Well, the game has its flaws, but I can't think of one that I've enjoyed more, whether playing it or watching the LP. SGF, you're one of the most skillful commentators I've ever had the pleasure of listening to, with an perfect sense of timing. Keep up the good work, man.
This is the best LP I have ever seen. You have no idea how entertaining this was to watch from start to finish. It wasn't just the game. It was the gameplay, the attention you gave to every aspect of it, and most importantly your commentary. Thank you!
Amazing LP. Loved it. I really did. The effort you put in it really shows, and the game was phenomenal. I love games like this but whenever I play them I always find myself rail-roaded to the main story line, I need to know what happens next right away. So it's good to watch a 100% LP like this to see everything I would have otherwise missed. You've quickly become my favorite LPer, and considering how many of them I'm subscribed too, that's saying a lot. Keep up the good work!
Although the plot was interesting, it was pretty obvious all along who actually did the killings... Unless you haven't played a certain MegaTen game, then I suppose it may have been quite a shock. But seriously... the culprit, shadows, a higher power, supernatural, a persona. So many parallels. It's like Swery wanted to put together Twin Peaks and that certain Megaten game into one. Although I don't think it beats it...
I did enjoy this game and LP regardless and even downloaded the OST for it.
Thank you for all your work. I really enjoyed the last few days I've spent watching your LP, and I hope that you keep on making more of them. Really you're awesome, thank you!
I cried a little bit at the end, also I thought was really cool what Sweary did with the cast of Character 25:05 Once again great LP SGF, now hopefully I can finally get up and do someing today
I was really sad when Emily died. I was kinda hoping it wouldn't get to that. I don't buy the whole Emily and York live happily in the forest / after world type of ending either. It feels like a huge cop out to me.
It's funny, I'm usually the one who wants to see bad ending in movies for a change, but this time the joke is on me... =(
This ending made me sad without even being all that sad, itself. We end the game with heartbroken Zach... it's sad. He lost his love, his best friend, his other half, and his new home he came to love. I'm gonna miss Polly. And Sigourney. And Keith. And Olivia. I'm gonna miss Greenvale, and
Big thank you for playing through this game for us. Doing a 100% really gave us a chance to acquaint ourselves with the story and its characters as fully as possible. The story of this game is simply amazing. The best moment for me was when Emily was searching for York and I went mentally over the characters when it suddenly hit me, that George was the Raincoat Killer. Didn't prepare me for the end although after waking up at the hospital I facepalmed remembering the guy was a sapling salesman.
This was the first LP of yours that I have watched and I really, really, really enjoyed it. You did a wonderful job with this. Your love for the game and knowledge of it really showed and just made it enjoyable to watch. I love the characters in this game and the story was great. It's the small things in this game that I think make it great. Once again, fantastic job on this LP.
I know it's not mentioned in the game, but according to SWERY himself, Willie is like Kaysen, an entity of the Red World. In fact, he/it's the one giving orders to Kaysen. That sorta raises a few questions on the fate of Greenvale.
Thank you so much for making this very high quality LP! I couldn't stop watching it! The story was very intriguing and it actually did make me quite tearful on some parts. Of course, you had some fun quirky moments like with the door pushing thing in the OTHER world prison : )! I haven't seen a game that really got me so wrapped up in the story in quite some time, so once again, I am very thankful that you posted this! I'll look forward to your next LP for sure!
Guys, guess what I just realised.. In one of the coffee scenes, York says that one of his co-workers lost his hair color in one night. He was talking about Zach :O
It was a fun ride SGF. Everything you did with this LP was perfect from beginning to end, and you'd make a perfect commentator in just about anything.
This really was the greatest LP I have ever watched. I know you probably hear it a lot. but if anyone else had done this, I don't think I would have stayed up every night to watch at least 2-3 hours worth of episodes (that is the recommended dose of sgf, by the way). Even though I loved this game, the story, the characters, the gameplay, and everything else... it wouldn't have been worth it without the unique and amazing commentary you added, that is what really pushed this LP over the edge.
If you have any questions about this game, you really ought to consult the 90's television show Twin Peaks. The characters, settings and major plot elements were directly inspired by it, You can watch the entire series via Netflix streaming. It is arguably one of the best television programs ever to be broadcast, created by master of cinema, David Lynch. Despite how old it is, it actually has aged very well. And unlike modern shows, none of it insults your intelligence. At least watch the pilot.
So many questions. What's the red room? What's the white room? WTF was Kaysen? What were the shadows? Why would the gas bring those things about as well as the craziness in the townsfolk? Who was the original Raincoat Killer? Who was Brian? What was York? What was the significance of the forest?
I don't know how I feel about all this, but I am very grateful you LP'd this, SGF. It was quite a ride. That ending just wasn't what I thought it would be.
1. Room painted Red due to lack of other colors. 2. Room painted White due to lack of other colors but the gaining of white. 3. Kaysen is Nyan cat acted by Nicholas Cage. 4. Shadows are trauma victims of tanning salons and never see the light of day. 5. Because its Nyan Cat gas. 6. Michael Reynolds 7. George A. Romero's first zombie. 8. A cybernetic agent created by the government 9. To produce property value.
Red and white rooms: Zach's head/ prison made by Kaysen?
Shadows: Probably ghosts from 50 years ago.
Gas: Well, Kaysen made the gas originally from the red seeds probably. The town is soiled, so when it rains the purple fog still rises from the soil and brings up the ghosts.
Original raincoat killer: Harry's father. He made it rather clear.
Brian: Some sort of ghost. He was able to see shadows and locked the red seeds away
I think Zach escaped from reality and York helped him out. I dunno if Kaysen somehow locked Zach away, but he was able to escape with York's help.
Significance of the forest: Dunno, somekind of heaven? Maybe they became spirits when they died.
Lots of that stuff was explained by Harry, did you watch the whole thing?
What I'm interested in is what the hell was Kaysen? Strange creature who just wanted to fuck with humans like he said or did he used to be a real human himself?
SGF, this Let's Play was absolutely phenomenal. I watched it beginning to end over the course of three days, and I think it may very well be the best LP I've ever seen. One more delighted comment for the pile.
Dear Supergreatfriend, that LP was amazing. I can't wait for Spy Fiction. All of your LP's so far have been super top quality. It's like i'm watching my favorite tv show. Keep it up!
Thanks for doing this! I will miss having DP to look forward to, but Im excited to see Spy Fiction coming up. This LP made me finally watch Twin Peaks, and I'm so happy I finally did.
When I first started watching this LP, I was just looking for something strange to kill a few minutes late one sleepless night. I got way more than I bargained for. I don't know if DP is a game I'd ever play myself under any circumstances, but I feel that watching you play it has improved my life. It will be very strange not to have more York to look forward to. Whatever your next LP is, I'm definiteyl along for the ride, supergreatfriend.
Awesome work, supergreatfriend! Can't wait for spy fiction as well!
...though, this might be my memory playing tricks on me, but did you ever post a recording of the Letter from Nick to Olivia/response sidequest? I don't recall...
Thank you for the guided tour through Greenvale, SGF. It was a strange and wonderful trip indeed and I think you presented it in the best possible way.
I always feel sad every time I complete a play through of this game, like how Zach must feel - mourning the loss of so many characters and now trying to make it alone, without them. An utterly brilliant and beautiful game.
Loved your LP, saw some new things that I had missed. Looks like the leaderboards do reset each month as I was in the top 5 of most of the rankings a few months ago, damn. Thanks for the entertainment, looking forward to Spy Fiction!
Finally, Grecotch is back with its rightful owner - it's only been how many episodes since that side quest opened...? Anyway, thank you for such a wonderful LP. I know I'm not the first and not the last to say it, but none the less, thank you for the ride.
Hey SGF, just being someone who has watched this from the beginning, and hoped for a new part every day, I can honestly say that this was a very great LP, and your finest work so far, I really enjoyed watching it, I hope you enjoyed making it as well, very well planned out with no boring bits, which is super good considering the LP's length, not a detail left untold, can honestly say that every single minute watching this LP was time well spent and entertained, great job : )
I admit I was iffy on this game and I only thought about how awkward the animations were... But as it went on it became more than just a murder. I actually cried a little when Emily died. Great game! You were perfect for this game. Some people are very obnoxious or quiet. You're subtle humor was the best. Overall you're a great let's player.
Honestly, after this I feel like you should re-do your Shadowman LP with voice commentary, but I'm sure there are more relatively obscure survival horror/adventure games to do
You know, ask pretty much anyone else about Deadly Premonition and they'll tell you its not much to look at. But SGF brings a certain light that most people seem to miss. Well done supergreatfriend, I look forward to your future lets plays.
it was one hell of a joy to watch this game...the music, the story and the..*ahem* oddness throughout the game. I never got to play this nor do i think i'll ever get the chance to since i dont have a 360....but i'm certainly glad i got to see it all.
I never went back into the door after getting the final card. Cute. <3 The ending of this game is great, even though it made me a little sad. This was an awesome RP. I look forward to your next one, even though I've never seen Spy Fiction. Then again, I had never even heard of Deadly Premonition before my boyfriend showed me this RP, and now I love the game. Awesome job!
This really was a great LP. Very entertaining, and it shows how much there really is to this strange game. Despite the dated gameplay and the VERY dated graphics there is a good game and a good story under all that that's so wonderfully weird.
Watched every episode and was fantastic from first to last. From the moment i saw Kaysen i knew he was shady. No one carries a tree with them in a daily basis and acts normal. haha.
And here we are, at the end of my all-time favorite Let's Play.
Thank you for bringing this to us, SGF. I've been keeping an eye on your videos for a couple of years now, but this was what really let me know that you are my favorite LPer to date.
Is it possible to play a New Game Plus with the items the player obtained in the epilogue?
This game's gameplay actually probably wouldn't hold my attention very well, but I loved the story, so I'm glad there was a way to have experienced it without having to actually play it.
(Also: The tags for this video has "premonitiona".)
Selecting individual chapters allows you to keep your inventory from when you beat the game. But if you pick new game and start over than no, you don't keep anything, not even the special menu that SGF shows off at the very end. Kinda lame since it means if you want access to the jukebox or any of those extras you have to go through the whole game again even if you've already been credited once before.
@FEfan56 If you go back and beat a chapter after selecting it manually, will it stop the game, or will you be able to continue to play into the next chapter?
AWESOME MAN!!! flawless lp from start to finish. The only thing i was hoping for was to hear your take on the unanswered questions from the game instead of just saying they left it up to the player and discuss plot holes.Still though this lp is leagues better than any iv seen on youtube
I've been a fan of your 'Let's Play's since you made Shadow Man and with your nische of both giving not only fun and helpful dialogue and some explainations here and there plus doing everything 100%, you not only keep me hooked but you make me thirst for more. So, hopefully you get to Spy Fiction soon!
Just hearing that you have already selected another game to LP made me feel giddy. Honestly, your LPs are probably the greatest form of entertainment currently being produced, and I believe I can say without hyperbole that you are the greatest contributor to human culture and arts of this or any age.
I always looked forward to a new video from you and I just want to say thanks supergreatfriend for an awesome Let's Play. Here's looking forward to the next one. :)
I also have no idea how the leaderboards work in this game. When I finished, I was like rank 14, and I didn't show up on your leaderboards. I loaded up the game, probably after you finished your playthrough, and I'm back on the boards at 14. Weeiird.
Thank for doing this. I tried watching 3 other lets plays of this game that gave up halfway through and wasted my time. You rock for all the effort you put into this. Thanks. I appreciated it a lot.
Site looks ok to me! Simple but effective. I want to thank you so much for this LP. Thespoonyone, Noah Antwiler was going to do a LP but gave up on it, mostly due to a busy schedule. I was directed to your LP by a user on his forum and i'll never regret it. Consider me a fan! I'll be watching your other LP's and the ones to come in the future! - Zach. (It's really my name! :D)
Best LPer ever. So good I didn't cheat and look ahead once. I was happy to wait for each new installment and now that it's done I feel quite happy that I did.
i just have to say i love how you lay out your LPs, giving us not too much but to too little, making us wanting more, and making jokes that were modest and not pushy, overall you are a THE best LPer that ive had the honor of watching. cant wait for your next game play :)
I hope Spy Fiction can hold up to Deadly Premonition as a story. It'd be a real shame if this was a more concentrated experience of experience over game play than its predecessor.
Thank you for your great LP's supergreatfriend, and for showing me an excellent game I probably would have never stumbled upon without you. I look forward to the next ones!
Just an amazing LP. Not a genre I've had given a second thought to, yet I was totally hooked the first episode you did. Perfect commentary and amazing production values overall. Seriously, one of the best LP's of any game I've seen, thanks mate!
I'm going to miss Greenvale, and I don't know if anyone noticed or not but in the credits when it was showing all of the companies involved there was a logo in the shape of a coffee cup with the letters "FK" in it. Just thought that was neat.
Another fantastic LP, supergreatfriend. A six months well spent, me thinks. I certainly enjoyed the ride! I can't wait for your Spy Fiction LP, and perhaps in the future you'll LP Enemy Zero? I'd love to see that...
Also, your website is pretty good. Easy on the eyes, easy to navigate. Good idea!
Well, the game has its flaws, but I can't think of one that I've enjoyed more, whether playing it or watching the LP. SGF, you're one of the most skillful commentators I've ever had the pleasure of listening to, with an perfect sense of timing. Keep up the good work, man.

Great work on this LP! The only thing I wish you'd included: LP-bot's opinion on how the plot ended up :P

Was with you from start to finish and loved it all.
Can't wait for the next.

man, if that fat b*stered comes back in another game, I'm going to be mad.
This was a great game, and I cannot wait for your next video!

I actually own Spy Fiction! I can hardly wait~

@IncredibleMD
FEfan56 9 months ago
@FEfan56 If you go back and beat a chapter after selecting it manually, will it stop the game, or will you be able to continue to play into the next chapter?
IncredibleMD 9 months ago
AWESOME MAN!!! flawless lp from start to finish. The only thing i was hoping for was to hear your take on the unanswered questions from the game instead of just saying they left it up to the player and discuss plot holes.Still though this lp is leagues better than any iv seen on youtube

can you do a highlights video, it would be fantasic other wise i might have to watch all the parts again
bertiboy123 9 months ago 2
Thank you!
Thank you again!

Just hearing that you have already selected another game to LP made me feel giddy. Honestly, your LPs are probably the greatest form of entertainment currently being produced, and I believe I can say without hyperbole that you are the greatest contributor to human culture and arts of this or any age.
Thank you.

i just have to say i love how you lay out your LPs, giving us not too much but to too little, making us wanting more, and making jokes that were modest and not pushy, overall you are a THE best LPer that ive had the honor of watching. cant wait for your next game play :)

I hope Spy Fiction can hold up to Deadly Premonition as a story. It'd be a real shame if this was a more concentrated experience of experience over game play than its predecessor.

Good idea!

Aw, man. I've teared up maybe three times at a video game, and the very ending here is certainly the most pronounced occasion.
Yet another 'thanks for this LP' comment. It was, all-around, just great and your commentary complemented the game quite nicely.
