I used Krylon engine paint primer and black semi. The primer sticks well and makes the semi coat super smooth. Cover with the bike foam and it's just as good as the other you buy at the store.
Awesome video Lewin. This video is great because yours looks identical to the one I made! - even the caps. Can I possibly add some advice on your final construction...
1. Put two wooden or metal dowels through the bottom support tubes to keep them from flexing when you have it fully loaded with heavy guitars.
2. Go to the sport bike shop, go get about 15 feet of foam "body tube" covering (the inner diameter fits perfectly around PVC)
3. Good paint choices - SEM paint, Engine paint, or vinyl.
This Is Brilliant! Why Didnt I Think Of This? Thanks!

Nice but I was looking at the guitar stand I have and it's base, the two poles under the guitar, is about 7" wide. It's just a suggestion.

The foam pipe insulation is a good idea. I was thinking a quick easy bumper protection might just be using a glue gun.
muserwood 8 months ago
what did you use to cut the piping?

lol you can spend 5 thousand bucks on a mandolin but not 200 for a guitar stand.

You can also add foam Pipe insulation that can be bought at any hardware or home improvement store. It is cheap and would protect your guitars!
