I love how almost no words were spoken in this scene, but it doesn't detract from the emotion. In fact, the music and longing looks only add to it. What a perfectly bittersweet ending to one of the smartest and most touching shows I have ever known. One year later and I still miss it. These characters, they are family.

@JamieHowitt oh please, time traveling islands, and the whole "we have to go back, and we cant tell anyone what happened because so and so is going to kill everyone left there" plotlines were utter crap. the whole series lost its power at the end of season 4. i dont have anything wrong with the jacob thing, just the way they developed it.
Well the whole "can't tell anyone or they'll all die" thing makes sense, to be fair.
And since the show featured a world-saving button and a monster made up of a giant sentient cloud of smoke, having time travel isn't *too* far fetched :P

Haha, you have a point there, the Smoke Monster "origin" was just plain nonsensical. I would have been happier with the more sci-fi route, the whole "Cerebrus Dharma security system" thing hinted at.
Several of the characters on the Island moved through time, not the Island itself. It vanished because Ben moved the Island so that it couldn't be found - the time-flashing was just a bad side-effect that Locke fixed.

I hate when people say the ending sucked because it didnt! It explained EVERYTHING. And for the people who dont understand what really happened: the experience on the island was real. They landed on the island and were considered "special" because Jacob chose some of them as candidates. The Flash Sideways was to show how much they affected each other's lives, so much that they couldnt move on without each other. Any more questions ask.
3:15 the plane crashed and every single person died on the plane. NO ONE SURVIVED. The reason they did the whole 'Lost' expericance is to show how they all got closer together some how. Its not a horrible ending. I love it. It shows the reality. No one can survive this horrible plane crash. Lost was an amazing series with an amazing ending. I loved it and i hope you all did to. The ending was sad...but they all went to heaven (as it appears) so its all good. I love Lost. To bad it ended...:-(

Since the bomb didnt go off on impact like expected, the island improvised and pulled Juliet down there to set it off so it wasnt Jacks fault at all. Even Sawyer tells Kate it wasnt Jack's fault she died. And as to your previous comment they went back to the island because they were candidates, they had no choice.

never saw an episode except the final ...thoughly engrossing from the first minute!!! i had tears in my eyes for characters i was introduced to for an hour and a half earlier great finish for a tv show ranks right up there with the best of them....
the term 'LOST' wasn't about the people being lost on a desert island, it goes by the meaning that the people we're lost within themselves. hence each character portrayed in the series all had negative lives back in the 'real' world.
everything you saw on the island actually happened, the reason why they're all at the end is because the people who they cared about and spent time with are the ones who they move on into the afterlife with.
Now that LOST is over I literally can not watch TV anymore cause I just compare it to how amazing LOST was, but I love how they ended it at a high point unlike other shows that just drag it on!
@4thcoming I'm a bit annoyed at how much Lisa became the central character now. Almost every episode is about her and she never gets consequences, just praises. It's rather frustrating to the point of I can't tolerate it anymore.
@cafeterialoca True but most episodes still focus on Homer and his misadventures and life lol. Some other characters like CBG, Principal Skinner and Ned Flanders has some of their own episodes as well even Milhouse.

I think what the writers were trying to say we all meet again and we look our best to finish that last chapter of our life.We go towards the light for a life we are not aware of it is unanswered of what is to come but we all will have that one day.

i thought lost was okay got a little bit crazy but i really loved Kate's character. but jack was really annoyingly self righteous. i mean i wanted this show to be amazing and in some ways it was. but they just lost the plot. it was like all story lines that other shows got rid of just packed into one crazy mess. the first couple of seasons were really great. then with the freaking polar bears i lost track. but hey i love evangeline lilly she's cool
@currytub They crash fr 4 months on the island, handful of them get off, and go back after 3 years for different reasons, he dies as some leave on the plane seen here and a few stay. The Church part was supposed to look like an alternate time-line in the last season but it's them as sprits after they al died eventually.

The island started before Jacob's time, before his Fake Mom but Jacob & Smokey are the to sides in the Oceanic 815 conflict so it only showed their origins not the island itself.

@4thcoming I'm a bit annoyed at how much Lisa became the central character now. Almost every episode is about her and she never gets consequences, just praises. It's rather frustrating to the point of I can't tolerate it anymore.

@cafeterialoca True but most episodes still focus on Homer and his misadventures and life lol. Some other characters like CBG, Principal Skinner and Ned Flanders has some of their own episodes as well even Milhouse.

@NicoleShea yeah i tried to watch the show "off the map" but as soon as i found out that it was the same as greys anatomy set on an island or tropical forest that look very similar to lost, i stop. i dont think the stories gonna go anywhere at all but saving yet again, lives. i mean whats with all these shows these days. theres no originality anymore, theres way too many cop show. none of these shows can even compare of how epic of a show lost was, or is.

I mean it was just so complicated if you missed an episode you were screwed and since I don't live in the US and in my country they're always switching schedules I got literally lost on what was happening when I got the hang of it I just didn't get the message, point.. This was one of most overated dribble fest in modern times, nothing like a shows title to reflect its purpose, to leave the viewer lost, maybe reviewers who put it in tv guides top choice 100 just were adraid to admit they didnt watch it,, the Empereor has no clothes and 'Lost' was about as intersesting as a episode of Sunday morning famers grain report

@yadatalatura no, they weren't dead the whole time...christian himself said it to Jack that the island was the most important experience of his life...if he was dead all the time he couldn't had considered it the most important experience of his life...then said that someone died before jack and someone died after him...it was only the alternate reality of season 6 that depicted their afterlife

I think what the writers were trying to say we all meet again and we look our best to finish that last chapter of our life.We go towards the light for a life we are not aware of it is unanswered of what is to come but we all will have that one day.

Worst ending ever, what happened to all the other people that died, and what about people that don't believe in an after life, nothing that happened on the island mattered but the experiences these people had... BS! I loved Lost up until the final season, kinda really just the last episode! Dropped the ball, smarter people usually hate this fucking ending.

i thought lost was okay got a little bit crazy but i really loved Kate's character. but jack was really annoyingly self righteous. i mean i wanted this show to be amazing and in some ways it was. but they just lost the plot. it was like all story lines that other shows got rid of just packed into one crazy mess. the first couple of seasons were really great. then with the freaking polar bears i lost track. but hey i love evangeline lilly she's cool

@currytub They crash fr 4 months on the island, handful of them get off, and go back after 3 years for different reasons, he dies as some leave on the plane seen here and a few stay. The Church part was supposed to look like an alternate time-line in the last season but it's them as sprits after they al died eventually.

@coldbedsheets It's implied to be vital to the world that cork, if the island is destroyed everything is, and Smokey would have massacred whatever was left. The island started before Jacob's time, before his Fake Mom but Jacob & Smokey are the to sides in the Oceanic 815 conflict so it only showed their origins not the island itself.

@coldbedsheets After the time-travel you thought it'd be realistic? Most of the aquestions were answered, not the Egypt stuff or who bulit the Satue and why, or the only 4 toes. Some people liked it, some didn't but I think we all knew that would happen long before Season 6. Sorry you didn't like it.

@coldbedsheets but is that a bad thing. LOST is full of "no other shows ever" categories. From the Pilot this show was different and not the usual television fodder.
Personally I don't have to leave a movie or show with all ends neatly wrapped up and tied with a bow.
I'm not saying it is sad that you do have to have everything wrapped up nicely and explained to you. I'm just saying it's sad that because the answers provided were not to your standards you feel you wasted years
