I don't know why people are thinking DA2 is gonna be so bad. I'd be happy with origins just a longer story and less bugs. As long as they don't do what they did with the expansion I'm sure it's gonna be great.
@splein23 yea no kidding. they cut out characters without explaining, no character interaction and it was short as hell. i completed it in 13 hours. DA:O took me 50 hours

Despite the fact that she did have a cold heart, I deeply sympathize for people like her, since Morrigan didn't have any real hopes or relationships going up; just a pawn of Flemeth. though there were plenty of times that she wasn't being cruel, she was just being realistic, and that's what I loved most about her character.
@DCshirley I didn't have a high relationship with him, so when he turned on me in Denerim I had to kill his sorry butt. Haha. I'm just surprised Morrigan didn't murder Zevran in his sleep since you cheated on her. =P

Morrigan was taught to be a Nihilist from a young age and was abused as a child. She at point states that she did not take pleasure in murder and was extremely disturbed by her mothers behavior. Most of the time she is just parroting her mother, and if you pick the right dialogue options she will stammer and almost cry.
@SimKoning I got Morrigan to go from believing that love is a cancer, to saying she loved me. She will eventually beg you to brake up with her while on the verge of tears, and if you are a female character, she will admit that you are the first friend she has ever had. Her problem is that she is stuck on her mother's nihilistic dogma.
@SimKoning A psychopath lacks empathy, and thus cognitive dissonance; contrary to Leliana. That she fears her respect for life has eroded proves that it hasn't happened. She and Zev have the problem Medieval knights had: their faith says "do not kill," but their position in society demands that they do so -- and lauds them for it... and killing gets easier with time. How to reconcile this? It is not an easy thing to do, and Leliana has not managed this at the start of the game.
@MyOwnNameWasTaken I agree that "psychopath" may be going a little too far, but dissonance doesn't have to be related to empathy: it can also come from being unable to reconsile a belief with reality. Her religion says she is supposed to be kind and giving to others to attract the "Maker's favor" yet she really does enjoy slaughtering other human beings as if it's some kind of sport. I think it's more likely that she is really trying to be something she is not, which, if so, is rather sad.
@SimKoning To me, Lel.'s difficulties make her trying to better herself admirable: easy virtue isn't laudable. In fact, she burns out: you can let her go back to guilt-free killer, or convince her to keep turning her dark impulses to good ends. But you seem to resent L. for not being the saint she aspires to be.
I now see why you find M. interesting, but try to be nice in DA:O, and M. disapproves. You can't change her responses, making her a better person, so I can't be bothered to try.

Leliana is trying to suppress the pleasure she gets from being a murderer (and she was one) while trying to be a better person. Morrigan is trying fight the urge to fall in love or form a real bond with a friend, because she wants to believe what her mother taught her. They are both interesting I think, and I guess what I'm saying is that Morrigan is not *pure* evil: there is a human being in there that is being suppressed. I was hoping she would be in Dragon Age 2 for this reason.

I just wish more people were able to tell the difference between a humanist agnostic atheist (like Wynne) and a nihilist like Morrigan. As it is, many people take Morrigan as an example of atheist bashing, yet I'm an atheist and understand what she is supposed to be completely.

I don't like the fact that Hawke is completely powerful. she's like a god. Remember fighting that son of a bitch dragon in DA:O I don't know about you but that was a tough battle. especially on hard. And getting out of that alive felt awesome. In this you are the most powerful person on earth. killing a dozen men with a single cut. Reminds me of Dynasty Warriors. And I am not sure if I like that or not. But I already pre ordered it. I don't expect Bioware to let us down.

This is one of the cases where change is good people, i mean just look at the gameplay! Don't get me wrong, love origins, but this seems to be an improvement over it....Also to everyone who thinks this is going to suck: Cmon, it's fucking Bioware, not Sonic Team! YES! I like action RPGs (Mass Effect) so much more than those turn based ones, which is why I didn't get Dragon Age Origins. Now that they are pumping up the action, I am really excited!
I have bought and loved every single Bioware game produced since 2001 and all of them have had stellar reviews, rpg of the years and game of the years. (Jade Empire, KOTOR, Mass Effect 1,2, The Old Republic [2011], DragonAge: Origins) Trust me, this is gonna be AWESOME!
The appeal of dragon age was that it was an action-STRATEGY-role-playing game, where you had to prepare for conflicts, create a strategy at the beginning of an encounter, and if you planned poorly or made poor on-the-fly tactical choices in the middle of the battle, you failed, with no lucky button-mashing. It looks like they've taken the strategy and tactics out of this one and turned it into an over-the-shoulder Diablo. Ugh. The characters and narrative better be compelling as FUCK.

@CoperLee the only reason i am ordering this game is because of this improvement. i never got to play origins DLCs because the experience of the full game was just disappointing, at a certain point it felt like was playing a card game. sure its a medival fantasy rpg/strategy game but you don't have to go all old school on our asses especially when its also a console game.

Only difference they made was to make the game play faster than what it did of the old game. If anything it just puts you out in the combat more often and makes it work alot faster than what it did. More stylized combat as well if I'm a rogue hell I can teleport throughout crowds destroying them by numbers. I can only imagine mages will be awesome but for the PC they still give the isometric perspective

@Joshawaable this is gameplay on the 360, they've changed the game style on the console because the designers felt that a PC conbat system didn't work so well on a console, on the PC you are still able to play the same as origins, with tactical gameplay if you want too, they're trying to improve it, don't bother hating a game which hasn't been released yet...

there is a new video where the developers talk a little bit about the gameplay. They said that they will have the pause and play strategy gameplay of origins but they will also have some new style gameplay as well. Check it out. Frankly I'm all about the story. If the story and gameplay turn out great than I'll be happy. I think that it's stupid for people to bash the game when they 1st, haven't touched it and 2nd don't know about the mechanics or what they were trying to go for. Stop bashing it
I hope they kept the rest of the game very similar to the first dragon age, seeing that the battle system is completely different. But not in a bad way though.

Same dungeons & places, invariable quests, 0 exploration freedom, bug storm, unique allies’ equip, imitated clafting & gift, mad simplif anywhere, funny joke end. The only positively is graphics that doesn’t change from Origins (thank goodness!)

Only difference they made was to make the game play faster than what it did of the old game. If anything it just puts you out in the combat more often and makes it work alot faster than what it did. More stylized combat as well if I'm a rogue hell I can teleport throughout crowds destroying them by numbers. I can only imagine mages will be awesome but for the PC they still give the isometric perspective

@Z7TomC7Z Stop bitching and Moaning, lord of the ring two towers and return of the king made by EA had good, responsible and quick action gameplay which made it even more immersive so why not dragon age. truthfuly, aside from the story and narrative; Origins sucked balls, it was slow, the animations looked a 2001 PC MMO begging for an expansion pack. Welcome to 2010/11.

@Joshawaable this is gameplay on the 360, they've changed the game style on the console because the designers felt that a PC conbat system didn't work so well on a console, on the PC you are still able to play the same as origins, with tactical gameplay if you want too, they're trying to improve it, don't bother hating a game which hasn't been released yet...

Die Grafik ist grauenhaft bzw. voll grottig schlecht und die Kampfmoves erinnern an einen billigen abklatsch eines Aufstell Automaten Action Games...passt NULL zu Dragon Age. Wahnsinn echt wie ätzend was die aus dem coolen Spiel gemacht haben...eine richtige Kinderkacke !!!

there is a new video where the developers talk a little bit about the gameplay. They said that they will have the pause and play strategy gameplay of origins but they will also have some new style gameplay as well. Check it out. Frankly I'm all about the story. If the story and gameplay turn out great than I'll be happy. I think that it's stupid for people to bash the game when they 1st, haven't touched it and 2nd don't know about the mechanics or what they were trying to go for. Stop bashing it
