well ATI sort of have bad drivers for Linux and i'm starting to get really hooked on Ubuntu and Nvidia cards are the only cards that work best so far.

the older 640MB GTS is slower then the GT, but the newer 512MB GTS is better then the GT.

Just so all of you know, ATI is relaseing a dual GPU HD 3870 X2 which will blow away the 3870 and even the 8800 GTX. Look it up, the pictures are amazing!

The R680, HD3870X2 (/HD3875 or HD3890) will perform around 75-90% stronger than a HD3870 alone and will cost around $400 ~2900XT retail pricing today. So there will be little use of the HD3870 as the 790FX motherboards do support Crossfire-X which to date only includes HD3850 and '70 as the R680 is limited to two-way-Crossfire - which obviously means the same amount of GPU:s but potentially lackier performance.

Not sure what your point is. Look up Murphy's Law as it relates to computers and technology. For all I know, the HD3870 Extreme is coming out in two years for $800. You can keep waiting for tomorrow or live for today.

i think 3870 will beat 8800GTX in time when the best drivers come out because it beats 2900XT by quite a distance. and it beats 8800GTS in everything with its first drivers. ive ordered one and its being posted next week cant wait.

Haha you have no proof whatsoever on that. No information regarding it has ever been released by Nvidia. It's all rumours as of now. Shit, they haven't even confirmed its existence. I sincerely hope so cuz I'm buying a new system around that time and if it does happen to come out around then and is better than ATI's card at that time I might actually switch to Nvidia for once.

Its G98, and it was originally gonna be launched this year, but since Nvidia had no competition, they bought out the G92. Question yourself before questioning what knowledge other people have, its rude

I've read up on this more than you can imagine cuz I want to time my new computer for the new Nvidia cards. The G98 is the low end chipset by the way. The 9800gtx would be built on the G92. Also, if you find a confirmation from Nvidia themselves about the 9800gtx I'll be happy to accept that I'm wrong. All rumours as of now mostly from The Inquirer. The timescale you speak of is Q4 of every year which means they have a month to announce and release this card.
