It's non-porous, so it can't mold. I'm assuming you either had a brand new bed, or touched up your bed before you put this on, so rust shouldn't be an issue.
As for it not being attached tightly, it's so any water that does get in can actually drain out your bed drains. You'd have to be driving 500km/h for it to lift out of your bed, but if you really wanted you could just add more 2-sided tape to secure it.
It just looks like you bought the wrong one and then didn't install it straight...
Looks like a good fit to me. I am getting ready to install one of these on my Dodge RAM. I'll be happy if it fits as good as this one. I also have concerns about moisture trapped between the liner and the truck bed. However, I'll be using a "weather tight" tonnoue cover (the UnderCover SE Smooth) that should keep 99%+ of the water out. Since the bedrug only takes a couple minutes to remove and replace, I'll probably wax the truck bed once or twice a year.
