I was on a waiting list from a year and a half. just got mine at £30 a year in Birmingham uk, I got a small one, a third of a full sized allotment, but its a lot of land ! I dont know what to do with it all!
@nerdmom920 Allotments are for people that dont own enough growing space , I dont know where you intend to put your containers , but plant for plant you need just as much space.
fantastic...well said Jacci Dowling and let's march for the future allotment holders, our young people who are really keen to grow their own and look after the bees and as said will struggle to ever afford a space to do it.
Great show...glad i subscribed and love watching on my iphone whilst out in the greenhouse...brilliant
This is a nice program, thanks for posting it online as I don't get the channels it airs on here in the USA. Good tips and strategies and very well presented. Thanks again.
THIS IS THE BEST IDEA FOR A GARDENERS PROGRAMME SINCE BEST IDEAS STARTED AND IM WRITING IN CAPITALS BECAUSE ITS SOOOO GOOD, Its about time this kind of programme was shown on t.v. and has been much needed instead of how to grow latin named flowers by the gardeners world [who are great but not what allotment people need or want] SO A HUGE THUMBS UP TO YOU GUYS and well done Claire.
This is a great show, Hi Claire! At 13:43 the guy says that "healthy soil grows less weeds", but the artificial distinction of "bad" plants is not recognized by the plants themselves. ALL plants grow better in healthy soil! Still a lot of good info though : )
i did no dig gardening, and besides a few Bermuda Grass clumps, it was pretty weed free, it was hard to keep the plants watered in the straw for the first few weeks, but we have very dry summers
Fantastic, loads of variety, easy to follow, well paced and above all 'down to earth' if you'll excuse the pun! Looking forward to seeing how everything progresses throughout the seasons.
£400 a year is more than running my growlamps inside my apartment cost, entirely different form of urban farming but still
