The agent in this video subsequently sued the DEA, claiming that they released this video and subsequently ruined his career. Come on people, it was obviously a blank. No one can get shot with a .40 cal and continue on with a demonstration. He purposely did this to show how easy a loaded weapon can go off.

I'm sorry to say, but no, this was not a blank. In fact, if I recall, the DEA seized the video that you are seeing, except the student filming it had already made a copy of it. The agent in this video subsequently sued the DEA, claiming that they released this video and subsequently ruined his career. If you search for DEA Agent Lee Paige and lawsuit, you can find plenty of evidence to corroborate what I'm posting here.

@nhfoos There is no glock model 40 but there is a glock .40. There is a difference but they can be said the same, a glock 22 and a glock .40 can both be correct names referring to the same gun.

On the days when his organization was coverning gun safety he must have been day dreaming about how good his dreads were looking or how buff he was getting. First rule of guns is you treat them as if they are always loaded. Don't even use the phrase "it's unloaded." Keep guns always loaded and treat them as if they are always loaded and this kind of nonsense would not happen.

A nuclear bomb is safe too, as long as nobody goes anywhere near it. Saying "guns don't kill people, people kill people" is losing scope of the situation. Yes, technically that is true, guns only hurt people when people touch them. The point people make when they say that guns are dangerous is that it is easier to cause serious harm with a gun (accidentally or intentionally) then with other objects (this is coming from a gun owner and supporter).

There is a reason why things like this happen, and it's not necessarily because they're stupid. What's scary is no one is paying attention to the flukes in the mind that cause accidents like this. Lee Paige is the guy's name. He decided to sue the DEA for releasing the tape and exposing him to ridicule. The kid that filmed it turned it over to the DEA as part of their investigation into the incident. It wasn't his foot either that took the bullet. It was his upper thigh. Only in America could a guy shoot himself and then turn around and sue somebody for it.
