I remember watching this group being interviewed in the early 90's and they were explaining their group name on some talk show.
YBT I was a twenty three year old blackman then and let me tell you that there was no need to explain shit to anyone. You guys were the real thing. You were part of a rap wave the brought excitement , memories, and phenominal lyrics to a cool generations.
to me it doesn't matter wat ur name is rap is rap if u got talent like ybt then so wat.its just a nmae im african american and i listen to more rock the rap only old skool.theses men were nice but not accepted by most cuz of a name bull shit.and who is shorty dog i tryed lukin 4 his stuff nada lol
im 36 now with 2 kids and 1 one the way i am self employed as a plasterer and earn £50 grand a year but this is still cool....yeas im a wigger!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hip hop was created in urbania, yes blacks started it,then came puerto ricans, then whites
but your missing the whole point...dont get it twisted,im black, but i like the fact that hip hop has empowered so many people....this is why bambaataa travels all over the world, not so we can claim hip hop for ourselves, but so we can become the most powerful form in the world of music....do some research fam!!!!
Oh shit!! I can't believe this clip has been available to watch for so long, and I haven't come across it until now! I loved this track when it first came out. I'd just started watching 'Yo! MTV Raps' (in England), and this song was No. 1 in their Top 10. I have to admit though, the guys made it sound terrible live. Why do rap groups always feel that they all have to rap each individual member's lyrics together? It's as if they think the lyrics won't be heard otherwise.
they went to australia? kamron or camrom whatever the guy with the dreads was my next door neighbor, and all i knew was he wanted to be a rapper. never knew they were. wow
They didn't want to be discriminated against as a "white" rap group...they wanted to be heard over the radio before being judged visually, if you don't like it, don't watch it!
Hip Hop will never be the same as it was in '93 so thanks for posting!
I've been listenin to this song a lot lately for some reason...It's definitely bomb! The video came out not too long after House Party 2 came out...Kamron from YBT was in the movie as Jamal.

YBT were great. I saw them when they came to Australia. Loved "Soul Wide Open", "Blowin' up the Spot" and "First True Love Affair".

Young Black Teenagers? LOL! Whatever.
I wondered why they decided to name their rap group this when no one in this group is black?
Why would
