@foxyroxy2005 I think Freddie did really want to work, but Brian has said that he didn't want his physical deterioration to be seen by the public - he wanted them to remember him as he was. He did continue to do videos and even another album after this. I suppose he knew he didn't have the physical stamina to tour. As his friends, the others honored his desire to keep the diagnosis private. I think they did know here, but couldn't explain. That's what makes the remarks so poignant.
Eric Clapton has a lot to say sure enough...whether people want to hear it is another thing. Oh Brian couldn't you have picked someone just a bit less...right-wing? And yes, before the fans descend on me like a pack of wolves on a deer I'm well-aware that Queen remain strictly apolitical, but still...
I wonder what brilliant songs could have been written by Freddie and the others if Queen still existed as a band with the 4 of them... I'm so sorry for the people who are too young and didn't have the chance to be born when they were still around.
