  • LOL a stylus.

  • just get a freaking ipad!

  • @Athrunwong why ? if i buy like a kindle instead of a i pad i save 400 bucks

  • useless and horribly slow. Why would they embarrass themselves sooo bad by demoing a product that is clearly atrocious in all respects? ?? I rofled when he said "I know it's doing something..".. umm ok, enjoy the silence then.

  • I love connecting with like-minded people. Add me!

  • @thankqwerty Because some people don't know the "basic boring functions". Or it could be because some products have more things added to them than their competitive counter parts. I, personally, don't mind all the mumbo jumbo, but others....like urself, do. You can always skip ahead you know, it is a video.

  • wow look at that glare!

  • I have heard that the font size of the personal pdf loaded in device cannot be changed ...is it true ??

And can we directly connect this to PC & load the pdf to read ..

  • It is so slow, for Linux this is making a bad name,.

  • @large74 the screen is slow because it is a passive hi-res screen.

  • lol that's totally irrelevant information. Basic functions of an ereader are relevant. That way you don't have to look them up elsewhere.

  • because it's a review. It's informative.

  • So slow

  • @KileSimons , true. Many of us can not read 50 pages per second.

  • You can write on all ebooks right? or just this one??

  • No, just this one and the company that made it. Have I said all ebook readers? If I did, I apologize, it was an error.

  • can you transfer your own books

    i mean already downloaded

  • Good question! Yes, you can transfer your own books. I maintain a file on my computer with all of my ebooks. IN addition, I have a special bookmark folder of site where I can download free ebooks.

FWIW, I have found that converting everything that doesn't need illustrations to .txt files is best. They can easily be reformatted by yourself and most ebook readers. Also, they require less space on your computer and in the reader, too.

  • After less than 6 months, my Iliad began to fail. It will jump 15 to 20 pages at a time, no longer connect to my PC and the battery life is down to 5 hours from 15 hours.

iRex is stonewalling me about the repairs and ignores my repeated questions. Never buy anything from iRex.

  • wtf are you doing?, spreading all your anti-iRex propaganda allover youtube. Yeah your product failed, so what, your case does not have to be representative for all iRex products. You think Sony products don't get broken?? I have used a a Sony ereader for work and it has broken down.

get a life and get over yourself.

  • The problem is not that the reader failed, although I would have expected it to do better than it has. But that iRex has been so intractable about service. They, of course, think they haven't but weeks would go by without them answering simple questions.

Now, they are trying to blame me for that. That makes sense because it's "never their fault" is it?

If you get over your arrogant attitude and learn the facts before you criticize, you won't appear as an idiot.

  • first of all, how can your claim of bad service be presented as a 'fact' ??

you are generalizing about this company from your own personal experience.

Also you have been trolling every video about the iRex iLiad.

The one who is appearing as an idiot is you

  • Because, the bad service I have received IS a fact. Something you seem to be too simple-minded to understand. Yes, I have been posting on every place I find that will affect iRex. It's a way of stimulating them to action. At least now, they are answering my emails. When you start hitting them in the profit column, they start paying attention. So far, I know for a FACT, that I have cost them more in sales than it would have to simply replace my unit. So bugger off, idiot.

  • Looks like I'm not the only one who noticed your spamming after all, huh?

  • WTF are you talking about? As usual, you expose your ignorance and lack of comprehending even the most simple ideas. Get a life cement head.

  • @apogist no i think Fai2 is doing the right thing, I searched för irex here on youtube to get som honest answers. If he got crappy service I think that is important to know.

  • the 2nd edition came out.. so is this the 1st or 2nd?

  • Note the glare off the screen in the opening seconds of the video.

  • Oh! what a technology. You can see the progress. That's all you can see. Progress. It is ridiculously slow and expensive. Never buy this product. You will probably go nuts waiting to read. My advice is, buy another product or just wait a couple of months or a year.

  • This video *is* 1 year old, and look at them now.

  • I'd love to get one of those. Can anyone tell me how much it costs? And if it can read word files from the computer? Please!!

    *Thankies to anyone who answers!*

  • dependig on the size 500-700$

  • This is the best eBook reader currently available, if I had the money to spend on one I'd have it already, but as it is I'm waiting 'till the prices of eInk devices go way down. Of course, by then this probably won't be the best you can get, but considering this is one of the few companies that's still making an effort on eBooks and having released the SDK and source I'm betting this will continue to be a viable option unlike the Sony reader that will be done for when Sony stops supporting it.

  • I have been using one of these for about 2 months. First of all, the software is very poorly done. It does not handle .pgf files well, nor can it play mp3 files.

In addition, the flip bar is a perfect device for carrying dirt into the device. That bar also is prone to failure. Already, mine will sometimes advance as many as 20 or more pages at random times. The start and change time aer very slow for the processor. I think more software problems cause this.

  • Is this thing a prototype ? Seems incredibly slow.

  • why the fuck is it so slow and so fucking expensive compared to other readers??

  • @semiliteratedgod biggeer screen

  • @semiliteratedgod because it has a pen :DD

  • Slow, but at least it's expensive in exchange...

E-ink needs a few more years of research.

  • I am interested in its function to write comments or notes on the ebook.

  • I prefer paper books. Any day.

  • Can I download yellow rag propaganda from the controlled media on this device?

  • The Doe Network needs to be downloaded on this

    too...

  • never mind the refresh rate of e-ink displays. It's text for crying out loud. What do you care if it flashes then you change the page? Oh and changing the page is actually faster than turning a page in a book ( good enough for me ). The problem with this device is that it has an weird page size and the thing is VERY expensive. You can get Sony Reader for $299 and this is 650 euro. Tough sell, don't you think?

  • Slow but Sweet. It needs EVDO bad.

  • SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!

  • the eink page transition is so BAD its like closing and opening the eyes..

  • It's SLOW

  • believe it or not its faster than most readers

  • yes yes yes but we have to wait some years for that

  • Thanks for sharing this information with us!
