Good question! Yes, you can transfer your own books. I maintain a file on my computer with all of my ebooks. IN addition, I have a special bookmark folder of site where I can download free ebooks.

never mind the refresh rate of e-ink displays. It's text for crying out loud. What do you care if it flashes then you change the page? Oh and changing the page is actually faster than turning a page in a book ( good enough for me ). The problem with this device is that it has an weird page size and the thing is VERY expensive. You can get Sony Reader for $299 and this is 650 euro. Tough sell, don't you think?
