  • The anti-commercial commercial. Brought to you by Nike via Converse. Obvious ad is obvious.

  • This ad is pandering bullshit.

  • i know sooo many people have already brought this up, but converse is saying "be individual... pave your own path..... originality is cool... but while your at it, buy a couple pairs of converse like everyone else.... BUT BE INDIVIDUAL!" irony alert. i like the pageant commercial, until they put the converse sign at the end. i was hoping it was just an anti-pageant commercial. they are soo degrading.. anywho... back to converse and their hypocracy....lol.

  • If I wasn't saving money for the coming great depression, I would buy a pair of Converse shoes.

  • This commercial was just fine till they took a stab at video games outta nowhere. Converse is just getting desperate since all the 90s kids no longer like to pose their not so "classic" shoe anymore. What a load of corporate marketing crap. Sucking and dying is the only thing left for this shoe brand.

  • While what's said is a vastly under-expressed sentiment, slapping a corporate logo at the end of the commercial (however minimal in its marketing) is self-defeating. Most viewers are too cynical to take the message seriously otherwise.

Now get off the damn computer.

  • Exactly. bye

  • This ad in nutshell:

STOP PLAYING GAMES. STOP WATCHING TELEVISION.

    *buy Converse*

DO SOMETHING TO HELP THE WORLD

    *buy Converse*

GET OFF THE COUCH AND DO SOMETHING

*like, for instance, buy two or three pairs of Converse shoes*

Could the irony be any sweeter than what Converse has displayed in these ads?

  • Nope.

  • maybe the fact that everyone wearing the shoes, are pprobablky sitting home watching tv, playing video games, and altogether, not caring.

  • That Bill Hicks quote nails it. Watch less TV, buy more of our outdated-looking shoes, most of which were probably put together by Southeast Asians for fifty cents a day. Classic disinformation.

  • this commercial pissed me off when i saw it... it basically said that if you watch tv then youre wasting youre life away... well screw them

  • I totally agree with you. They might have an arguement that someone might agree with if they aren't so arogant to think that what they say is right. This commercial was made so that angsty teenagers can feel rebelious when all they are really doing is pissing everyone off.

Anyway, if they are so against television, then why would they advertise their product ON TV!!!!!?

  • EXACTLY!!!

  • But then again, your being a conformist just by doing what Converse says...Hypocritical? I mean, I happen to like video games.

  • I love this. The way she looks off camera and the ending quote. Hah. So random.

  • To quote Bill Hicks: "He's going for that anti-marketing dollar! That's a huge market!"

  • Lol thesoup, that was what I was thinking.

Seriously ad guys, kill yourself. DO it now! Suckers of Satan's cock.

    Gotta love Hicks.

  • oh and sometimes, I'd just rather NOT get out if where I'm going is THAT world out there

  • fukin scary

  • brilliant

    & from converse- a corporation.

    way to break the mold!

  • Poetic and uncommon was the tone of this advertisement and the Converse "pageant" Ad. I do hope that there is a bit of "waking up" in some who watch it. If for nothing else, we should all agree time here is short and to not be an active part in the life you live, its as though you don't even exist.

  • But obviously it's just a marketing ploy, because if it wasn't they would use a non-advertising related screen.

  • Expecting people to watch a silent commercial is a surprise; then to read words on the screen-I'm shocked. All this time, I thought foreign films weren't watched here in the states because Americans cant be bothered with subtitles. I can only imagine the confusion in the general public when their televisions suddenly went silent with this Converse ad. I would go so far as calling a Public service announcement. The only thing left is to wait and for a response, if it was read at all.
