It's a lovely song and AL deserves her applause. She would do better if she were in the PROPER Mikado that G&S created, not amputating the intro words and not presenting a graceful song as a cabaret act.

She puts a modern dynamic towards the end making this more of a torch song than the sililoqy that the Victorian audience would have expected. Hers is a very well controlled voice and a lovely performance.

Very true. I've heard a couple other clips from "Hot Mikado", and I don't like the Boogie Woogie rendition, the execption being "Three Little Maids", but this particular song is a beautiful rendition.
