  • I was just watching this one, and saw Mike tightening the nut, instead of loosening it, and the two pros watched him, after some amount of time, they casually mention that he is tightening it.

This was the first time he seemed genuinely annoyed, and not just bantering with them. Because he shouldn't be expected to know, but anyone that has used a ratchet should. And they took way too long to realize it.

  • the EMD 710 Engine is generation 2 the CAT 40 Engine (also called the EMD645 is now extent the current engines out there today are the EMD 265 and the GE GEVO12

  • @geomodelrailroader no, the 710 is still out htere, and there's no locomotive with the 265 anymore.

  • @GordonFreemanD40 the 265 is a modern engine. the 265 is for the measurements of the cylinders in milometers. the older engines are in cubic inches for their cylinders. you find 265 engines in the newer locomotives 710 are found in switchers and late model diesels.

  • @geomodelrailroader umm the SD70ACe and the SD70M-2 are 4300HP 710 engines, and they are still being produced as of 2011.

  • @GordonFreemanD40 thats because they are late model locomotives. 710 engines are found everywhere the current model is the Model G (G is for green) what they did was they gutted it and removed the power assemblies and fitted the newer green cylinders in their place. this is to meet Tier 1 because the older 710s came before it.

  • thats the hulk of engines

  • I wonder who made that engine block. EMD?

  • @shadowknight227 Yes.

  • big ass cylinder

  • i wanna see that pass smog lol

  • @deluxedookie: haha, I can assure that engine block will pass smog (according emissions rules set for RR locomotives). As a matter of fact, that particular engine belongs to an engine type that spans the last 2 generations of locomotive engines w/ a 90% parts compatability rate between this engine, the first version of it built in the late 80's & it's newest cousin.

  • From what little I remember from Chemistry, caustic means that a substance is a base, such as lye. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

  • Yes you are correct that is an alkaline cleaning tank, possibly lye based, with detergents and heated agitated water to clean gunk out of engine parts. Acidic chemicals will attack the metals
