Horrendous cock-up, and that's putting it kindly. More like mass murder of one's own subjects sanctioned by the Government of the country. Makes you sad and angry to be a human. People are like sheep, though, they just do it, bowing to the chain of command and fighting for a barely percieved 'cause', if there really was one in the first place. You're basically a tiny pawngoing to war to fight for the distant playground squabbles of a few idiots or psychos in high places.
of course you are, would you make a bunch of 50-year olds do the fighting for you? or would you prefer to be in charge of the lives of a few thousand men? Those men, God bless them, were farmers and labourers. Not engineers and lawyers. How do you want someone to lead a battalian without being able to read?
@Gramra Thanks. Think my other comment here's a bit harsh, but i get really angry at war and politicians. That war was so Victorian but played out in modern 20th C. uniforms.
@alfonsodemedici That's my point. Old fashioned principals. A lot of the old generals did service in the Sudan with their red tunics, white pith helmets, God Save The Queen lol

@jegspillerpiano DAMN BLOODY RIGHT. And dare we turn round and say " go fight your own war? ". We get branded as cowards by the propaganda machine.

@Kelly14UK Victorian? Those events took place in WWI (1915-1916) early 20th century.
