the best controler of all time is the PSone version of the DualShock.

i dont know why but they messed up the controlelr from there on... the PS2 controlelr was still good but worse as the PSone DualShock (becuase of the analog face buttons mechanics) and the PS3 controller is a complete mess... the triggers are aweful and the sticks are just not my thing.

There is a controller you left out, the analogue controller without dual shock. It was larger than the dual shock controller and had indents in the thumbsticks that were not rubberised. It was released before Dual Shock. I got one with my first playstation and I think its the best one to get if the others are too small for you and you are getting hand cramps.

Sony and Nintendo are currently my favorite systems mainly because my favorite exlusives are on those systems, if you get a nintendo and a sony playstation you get the best of both worlds, the xbox on the other hand didn't really offer the right hardware or exclusive games I liked.

Every Playstation controller except the PS3 ones [those use USB instead of the Playstation connector] will work on a PS1.

Earlier PS models will require Analog to be turned off to work in the system menu, as well as earlier PS games [FF7 comes to mind].

PS1 controller is amazing: mine is at least 12 years old, it has been used more than two thousand hours, and it still works absolutely well without clumsing or anything broken, and it feels like a real thing. PS2 controllers are pretty long-lasting, but they feel more plastic. PS3 controllers break after 100 hours of use and it feels so soft and light... Far from PS1 quality.

Original is a bit better for "normal" games (like platformers, fighting games etc.) however, because it feels better for your hands if you have huge fat hands like I do. But for drivers and sport games you need sticks.

X360 controller for Windows is shit when you take that amazing DualShock 1... New dualshocks are crap though.
