I had this... they did surgery, and then I ended up getting hernia.. and it went away on its own. The surgery was successful obviously because I am here today.
And I am a female, the youngest of 4 siblings, I am 17.
Hi. I had this when I was a baby, then grew out of it but symptoms return for me from time to time and i haven't had surgery. The pyloric valve is alkaline stimulated and sometimes if the stomach too high in acid, a little apple vinegar and ginger is really helpful, to get it to open.
Good luck to all suffering with this and those who love them.
My son was 1 month old and had the same disorder. We also spent 5 days in the hospital so I know what you went through. I hope the little guy is doing great. My sons belly got infected so we had to take him back about a week after getting home the first time. He still vomits just about every bottle. The doctor says its acid reflux but it worrys us. We just dont want to go through that again. I hope it will just go away. Im not a mother but I wanted to comment on your video. Take care.
thats great Museapex!!! my kiddo now is 2 yrs old and he is doing excellent, thanks to God and the surgery,he had relfux , but it just disappear..im glad you are doing good!
Without doing an endoscopy two GIs wanted to perform a fundoplication for acid reflux. The third GI decided that the endoscopy was needed and found the sphincter to be only 3mm in diameter. My daughter is 2 years old and has been vomiting since she was 3 months. She was born premature at 6 months. She stopped eating at about 6 months and has a gastric tube. We will have the surgery soon to correct the problem. Hopefully she will return to normal eating habits slowly.
i am a first time mother and when my son way 3 weeks old he got pyloric stinosis but it took several Dr and hospitals till we found out what it was and i notices also that this video was put up on his birthday also lol hope that he is doing better
i am a first time mother caucasian and my daughter had pyloric stenosis twice. once at 5 weeks and again at 9 weeks. She still is refluxing but not projectile vomiting anymore. Has anyone had to deal with their baby puking at 6 months old 2 hours after they ate that had pyloric stenosis before?
i am here in the recovery room with my baby, and she is still vomiting, even some projectile vomiting, is this ok, because, the doctors dont think so but their monitoring it, she had the surgery at 8 am yesterday morn and its 5 pm right now, also my baby is a girl and me and my husband are both mixed caucasian-hispanic she is also my second child. i just hope it all goes well and she gets over the vomiting and recovers well.
The really weird thing is the nurses and doctors at the hospital (MUSC Children's Hospital...excellent care!) say whenever they see this they see it in 3's. Sure enough we found our our little guy was baby #2, and a third came in a few hours after him. All three had surgery the same day. Happy to say is is a chubby 23lb 5 1/2 month old boy who LOVES to eat. Hope all is well with your son, and any parents who are not sure if their child has it, insist on an ultrasound! It is quick and easy.
My son had his surgery at 4 weeks. I suspected pyloric stenosis about a week after his symptoms appeared, but his ped. kept saying it was acid reflux. The poor boy was miserable. I never saw anyone violently projectile vomit as often nor as far as he did. He is our firstborn, white, but not sure about his blood type ( I don't remember if they told us or not).
my sister was born on my 7th birthday.....a week later she had the same symptoms your son did. My mom and I went to the hospital and they did emergency surgery because she had pyloric stenosis. She was a premie so my mom thought that was why, but idk. My sister is 100% mexican so idk about the caucasion part....and she was the third born not first. BUT she is type O blood.
I also had this Pyloric Stenosis back in 1988. Now I'm almost 22 years old and I've always had this about 5 cm horizontal scar in the right side of my stomach. I think my blood type is O. But yeah, after that I were a really healthy child.
my first born son had this... imediate surgery. afterwords, he was still a pukey baby... huge apitite... big round boy... now he is a healthy happy 21 yr old with a beautiful scar! that beautiful scar saved his life!
My son had the same issue but he was not our first born son he was our 3rd son. I believe that my first has a very mild form and he is 11. I have a friend whose daughter just had the operation this year. It took a nurse to suggest what was going on with our son. Went to the childrens hospital got the ultra sound at 9pm he was in the OR at 9 am and went home the next day. not even 24 hours after coming back from recovery room. He is now 5 and starting kindergarten this fall.
the same symptoms. So be on a look out for when your child is vaccinated for the RSV virus.
Every so often I look up pyloric stenosis to see if anything has changed because we just do not know why he got it since it doesnt run through the family. I've often considered maybe it was an allergic reaction since I'm ab neg and he's b pos or if it was due to my husband having been exposed to DU (he's in the military.)Hopefully one day they will learn more for something they consider rare but common
with a b pos blood type. So he went through the surgery fine and was all better but a week later started vomiting. I was told that it is common for pyloric stenosis babies to wind up having acid reflux..luckily my son was just considered a happy spitter. About a month later I found out that he was NOT suppose 2 be getting a certain vaccination they now do orally for the rsv virus because patiences with gastro issues shouldn't get it, he did get that vaccine a week later which brought back
so we brought him to the ER. He looked like a prune and was slightly lethargic. The ped dr at the ER said it was from a tare in his esophagus and was going to send us home. I had to fight them to not which thankfully I did put up the fight. They finally did further testing and seen he had pyloric stenosis. I was told it runs in the family and happens in the first born male with a b or o blood type. Nobody in our family or my husbands had such a thing but he is my first born male
In Oct 06 I had a little boy my first born male but my second child. When he was first born he wasn't eatting right so they thought maybe he was diabetic, did blood work and he was fine about 2 weeks later he started to do the projectile vomiting. I brought him and and they said he had acid reflux, he was on several medications and about 2 weeks later he started to vomit blood. He as well was only eating half ounce bottles but vomiting more than what was given....
he was only 0ne day, and then we went tohome, but he vomited again on tuesday, so the surgeon said we had to return to hospital. and he was discharged right now, tnx for answering krisbrod, im very concern about my baby, since tueday hes been doing well, but he was dehidrated, just a little bit thats why they kept him again in hospital....
my son 5 weeks old had a surgery for pyloric stenosis yestrday, he was discgarged at noon, and he was doingw well eating every 3 hrs 1 1/2 oz, but today he was vomiting again.. do you think the suergery didnt work at all?
@chomfisvic I was the first born male and im caucasian white so i was the most likely to get this and i did my mum said i was REALLY skinny but then my mum fed me heaps and here i am today 13 years old with the scar and doing fine =)
I had pyloric sclerosis when I was a baby and now I'm 16. When I looked it up it said it is most common in Jewish firstborn males but I am none of these.. :S
I don't think I'm even type O blood
When I was not keeping food down and stuff my mum kept taking me to the doctor but they wouldn't believe her or do anything until one day she just placed me on the doctor's desk and said she wouldn't leave. lol
omg i had to do the same thing i took my baby to the er 3 times the 3rd time i handed the baby with puke on him to the dr and said im not leaving until hes fixed- and thank god they did---- drs get on my nerves
Hi! How is he doing now?My husband is mexican and im white and the doctor told me that it was common in hispanic first born males..Thats weird..My baby had severe reflux but they had us threw all the test also for pyloric stenosis.Hope everythings going alot better now!
My son is getting checked for Pyloric Stenosis tomorrow morning. I don't believe he has it, but I guess they want to be safe. I think it's reflux. But, small world, huh? I would've never known what it was if I hadn't just watched this video a couple of days ago! So, thank you. =)
Congrats guys - a beautiful boy! Thru BabyCenter, Facebook and MedHelp you can find the varied experiences of lots of folk. Now Zain's past the surgery it should be fine for all of you! My parents went through the PS thing with me, but would never talk about it, so these and similar sites have helped me to realise what it was sorta like. Thanks!
Congratulation on the birth of your son...I'm sorry to hear about his case...he'll get better hopefully. Don't worry, everything about babies is a blessing even if it's trouble.

I'm a black/white/Korean 15 y.o. Who had pyloric stenosis. I heard it is rare in females. Well I guess I'm a survivor with a pretty cool scar:)
