It is a NESSESERY "complication" because the gun will only shoot a stud through the cartilage. It doesn't acctually remove the small piece that the hollow needle does also it really hurts to remove a fresh stud and put in a hoop so a gun is never used here. But yes this was the most painfull of my three facial piercings, I also got hoops put in nose and ear like KIWI, but the one to the nose is really hard to take like a man as tearing is a knee jerk reaction.

Most importantly get all piercings done at a piercing parlour, if you find your self at a hair salon or any other place with a gun your in the wrong ffffdamn place. Your ear will probably try to grow over even with the stud in resulting in BIG pain and most likely infection. Stop being a cheap woos!

Peircing any cartilage with a gun can shatter the cartilage and cause it to collapse. Also, as broodyfour pointed out, the gun simply shifts the cartilage to the side whereas the needle scoops it out. This prevents the nasty little lump, and also a needle is easier to sterilise and means less chance of infection. That little lump left by a gun is the most likely cause of infection and soreness. So.. needles for the win!

you really shouldnt get it done with a piercing gun. they are unsterile and have a tenancy to jam. I have mine done and i got it done with a needle by hand. probally the safest to do it that way. it didnt hurt too much but it took forever to heal

yeah it IS forever but the colors tend to fade a little...

it's just natural because your skin also changes with the years. so black tattoos get a little greenish color. and other colors get lighter.

no there's nothing to de-sentizise the skin. the pain is not that bad. going to a dentist is much worse, trust me. it's sorta like you scratch your skin with your fingernail.
