Oh and the CPU does really nothing in games.. All the heavy shit is being handled by the graphics cards... There is a very small amount of CPU work compared to the GPU (Graphic processing unit).

Actually ive seen a couple of reviews where they tried to run Borderlands on maxed out settings and it couldn't handle it strangely, but lower them a little bit and it runs like a dream :)

OK... mobile core i7 are lower clocked than most core 2 quad or a core 2 duos normally, is it the fact they auto speed up when only tasked with a single or double threaded appliction that they are so fast? I do know they are the best but just i see 1.6 ghz and i think slow...

it's 2.8ghz in turbo mode. and its got four cores. It's better than most dual cores. Im not an expert but i'm pretty sure the extra two cores make up for the low clock speed.

ismgp is totally right. i have a m15x 1.6ghz i7 4gb ram 1gb vram. It runs ANYTHING on fulset except maybe crysis. just check the system requirements. you need to be connected to a pwr source tho, the peformance is lower from the battery. gateway ur prbbly in stealth mode or smth.

on eBay, I just picked up an Area 51 M15x laptop for $1075. lol call me a fool because the new ones came out, but I am not. these came with Dual Radeon 3870 cards at a total of 1 GB of Video. The newer versions are a GTX 260M with 1 GB of Video. Mine came with an overclocked Intel Core 2 Duo 2.93 Ghz. The newer ones have an i7 720QM (which are newer), so the processor is better in the new ones. But the one i picked up had a BluRay player, a full HD 1440x900 screen. Cost the guy $3,549 initially

From what I hear and see the 9800m GT is a re-branded 8800m GTX so your not missing out on anything.

nVidia sells companies like Alienware their chipset, and they go from there, so Alienware can basically take the same chipset and call it something else.

So is the 9800m GT better? No its performance compared to the 8800m GTX is the same more or less.

Alienware laptops are shit...

my video card has broken 2 times

i cant run fifa 2008 without it lagging due to the temp of the unit going above 80-85 degrees C...

I brought a cooling pad for it to keep it cool, it brings it down but still the lags there.

My laptop keyboard has also broken before and the replacement was bent.

The customer service team is very helpful and probally the best aspect but i really shouldn't know that after paying £2000 for my system....

that's why they M15x's don't come with NVidia 8800GTX anymore, it heats up the system and slows down performance.

Instead Alienware uses a new graphics card, the 9800 GT -- same extreme power, but with much cooler temperatures.

look dude the standard settings will run on 1.5 Ghz for fsx, but then again u still can do high setting and it runs smooth on 2.4 Ghz, alien ware can achieve on quad core and core duo extreme aka 2.8ghz so yea, it wil rune smooth
