If this is your dream car, you should be able to pronounce the name. Its CAY-ter-HAM. Also, it is not made by lotus, the lotus 7 was the base and inspiration. Nowadays you xan buy them built as well, but imo that takes the fun out of the car.
@Witheraf : Sorry no, not quite correct. It was the same car for many years after Caterham took production over of the Lotus 60 (Series IV Seven) from Lotus Components in 1972 and then reintroduced the Series III (virtually identical to the Series II) one year later. Arch Motors made space frame and panelled chassis for Lotus and then Caterham on the very same jigs up until about 5 years ago. Both of my Caterham's have Arch Motors built Chassis. It was the same car with added improvements.
@paullubliner Sorry, my bad, what I meant was that lotus did not make a car called the 'caterham' but rather caterham had like you said taken over production of the 7; that's what I meant by the 7 being the 'base' of the caterham. As you say the early caterham cars were still lotus' to all intents and purposes, huh.
@Witheraf No problem. I have built the 1:24 Tamiya model when first introduced. I also built the 1:12 Tamiya model for a friend when it first came out. I ALSO built a Caterham DeDion for another friend, (it got into Car and Driver back in the late 1980's) as well as my own live axle long cockpit series III "Lotus" jig Arch Motors chassis with Twin Cam back way in 1983 and I have one in the garage waiting to be built now.
Me too. I gotta get far better at airbrushing than I am now before I dare tackle it. Cars are damn tough to do right. The slightest thing wrong ruins them. "Battle damage" only works on sci-fi. Maybe military too to a lesser degree...
As much as I enjoy your sci-fi model videos, I'd love to see you take a break from them and work on this car to see how you would approach a different type of project.
I have one i got it today its a 1984 ;)
