I watched so much Canadian TV as a kid I felt closer to Toronto than Buffalo. Now it's tricky to get all the Canadian networks here on the other side of the ditch..
I fondly remember those halcyon days of my *first taste of international travel* visiting my Provincial Pals in Ontario, Quebec, & Nova Scotia (1976-1988)
And enjoying the telly Up North (North from Chicago & Cleveland), as well....
Hey, everyone: I got a 2 hour video block of that late night "filler" program "Night Moves", "Night Ride" on VHS and I don't know how to transfer it to the web. Any ideas? Anyone remember this???????
Who did the vocals for that? Sharon Lee Williams? I loved that show! Especially that enormous chandelier thingy and people going up and down escalators.
I'll check my tape and get back to you shortly. They list the vocal artist and even the musicians. It's just fabulous! I, too, liked the chandelier. OMG, that one dude dressed to the nines w/ a black and a flamingo head handle (pink) umbrella going up the escalator. A peek to the conservatory where the closed dinning room area. I love that show!
You've got a point there (no pun intended)... Gillette's is pretty good too. I have to admit that I LOVED the commerical for the Foamy Shave cream that had Abbot & Costello and all those slaps.
I remember those days vividly... now the ENTIRE station is a mess!!! I still remember when EVERYONE used to record their own material for airing nowadays, people just copy from others, slap it to tape & broadcast it. I certainly hope that one day I can get the money to build a proper studio & make fresh material for my community. Hopefully, it will encourage others to go back to the old school style which would be cool
I can't believe how long that "Global's Got It" slogan successfully ran for the station. I think that & See It On City can be counted as the most successful marketing slogans in the entire world.
I'd love to see clips from "What Will They Think of Next", a Global production from that era, featuring the disembodied heads of Joseph Campanella and Tiiu Leek (later Kerrie Keane).
Ohh yeah! I remember that show! They came up with some crap about boiled lettuce making you sleep, it didn't do squat. I also remember Joseph Campanella going on to have a small role in Mamma's Family too
I remember Global had a great series about unsolved crimes in the early seventies that might've inspired Unsolved Mysteries.

I wouldn't remember too much about this because I would have been born during the first week of the new fall schedule.

Never seen this in my life (it's because I'm way too young, but still). Nice find.

If you have an opportunity to visit Global's studios in Don Mills, just inside the employee entrance is a large marble-ish version of the old G logo.
thedab101 4 years ago
You wouldn't want to visit our studios now, trust me.
Yes, the G logo is fantastic, but the rest of the building is in need of a serious facelift.
Fortunately, it's getting one over the next few years.

If you have a Mini DV camera which have those RCA connections... plug the VCR to the camera and then firewire to the computer

lol!!! I just noticed that....

I too noticed that back when videoholic2007 posted this. Note that "The Simpsons" has been on Global since 1990.

Actually, it's famed Broadway actress Bernadette Peters. She actually starred in "All's Fair", though it only aired for one season.

I heard Global use to be really budget back in the day.

Hey Global, whatcha got?
Not much Canadian content!
tvlondon 4 years ago 3
Not much in the way of what people want to see either. :) The only thing that I watch on Global is Survivor China.
CelesteK 4 years ago
I don't even watch that. I think all I watch is Global National, and occasionally, House.
