yes, ricky jay is a master, but the first part is cut, those are not false shuffles, they are legit, fact. ricky jay is about creating illusion, he will find the best way to do that and doesn't care how he gets there. just because it isn't pure sleight of hand all the way through, doesn't mean he's any less skillful, it just means he found the best looking, most deceptive way of doing an effect, and did it that way, to increase his audiences amazement and enjoyment.

It comes from the documentary "Hustlers, Hoaxsters, Pranksters, Jokesters and Ricky Jay" The reason for the cuts is that, in the original documentary, commentary about Ricky Jay (e.g., by Steve Martin) was mixed into this particular performance. The uploaded simply cut those clips out. The edits aren't to trick viewers, Ricky Jay is no Criss Angel/David Blaine. He is a true master of the arts, if only he wasn't so obscure!

at 31 secs when he fans the cards out on the table he uses his right hand but straight after when zoomed out he is using his left hand to fan out the cards. He switches the deck that's for sure.

this card trick is made of simple cuts and shuffles but at 0:32 he did cut to a new tape. I learned the trick just by watching the video a couple of times, you just have research the shuffles.
