@Bleepmap o rly? srsly? You mean you can do all that? I thought the computers could only do email and The Google and play solitaire. Why didn't you tell me this a long time ago? ;) (srsly, thx for the comment!)
@WooblyBoobly Doesnt need a pc at all for this. Some people prefer an actual hands on approach (right down to building what youre going to making music with). Digital isnt always better.
@WooblyBoobly Of course you could do all this in software. To do exactly what I'm doing here when I filmed this 2 years ago would have involved some sequencing software that hadn't been written yet, although it could have been emulated easily enough using max. But that's not really the point - while I know and use software synths, and have since the early 90's, I've used modular synths since the mid-70's, and feel comfortable using them. They can do stuff software can't do, and vice versa.
@mootbooxle Hi - yes, it's all motm format, although currently I own 29 Synthesis Technology modules, which is less than half of my modules. There were a few less back when I made this video.
Commander Geordi La Forge to sequencer deck immidiately. An alien life form is trying to communicate with us through cool, spaced out cyber music. Quickly, turn on the machine that goes beep beep boop. Translating... The aliens have left us a message. They are saying: Thumbs up!
Absolutely wonderful. I am glad someone is keeping these pieces of equipment in good condition. No matter how good a producers PC based studio and digital sound creation and formation studio is. There are just certain sounds and constructs that cannot be emulated, copied or faked. Make some more videos and keep that musical piece of analog machinery running.
@siperdellyeer no man Deadmau5 is using Moog Voyagers and things like that. Also a lot of software sytnhesys. This is an perfectly useless piece of equipment! Get a Clavia Nord Lead at least!
@Samyaza69 wtf does the type of synthesizer to do with the sounds they can make? im pretty sure that this thing makes the same pure saw wave sound as most other synthezisers, including the stuff deadmau5 uses
Useless? Not at all! So sorry, you are mistaken. The point of a real modular is about the experience a person has using it. Trust me. Charles Revson (founder of MEGA conglomerate Revlon cosmetics) said, "in the factory I make cosmetics, in the store, I sell hope". It's the difference between a product and a commodity. Business 101.
Another point to ponder: 12 years ago, there were only 3 (or so) companies left making these. Now, there are over thirty. Why would think that might be?
I've noticed an upsurge of comments on this video in the last few days - did this vid get posted on a blog or something somewhere? If so, let me know where it is - no direct links because youtube doesn't allow that in their comments, sorry.

Lovely. And I love how you end it. I spent countless hours with an EML101 back in the 70's. It didn't have a sequencer, but by using the Sample-and-Hold feature I could get very similar effects, especially the steady beat with changes. I'm glad to see that people are still into analog sound production.
@RaykoDrg As mentioned (briefly) in the description, it's a modular synthesizer, similar to the old moogs, except in this case it's all modules that I've built myself. Some I designed myself, but many are from kits provided by Synth Tech, Blacet and a few others.
