@yusuf1987 yeaaaaaaa, i really don't care for the saudi's either. they are not exactly anointed by the arabs. they, like the turks before them, were imposed upon the arabs. the arabs haven't had their own nation since the mongols and turks invaded. before then, they did. once turkey came into the picture, it was just another empire, indistinguishable from anyone from europe or asia.

@sa4ir It was an empire that functioned under the guise of religious theocracy. I never said that they were "true" Muslims. All I meant was that they took the Arabian cultural equivalent of the Renaissance and turned into just another typical empire out to gain wealth and power. Every empire has its laurels upon which it rests its underlying desire to expand, control, conquer, and subjugate. Its all the same shit.

War music has three versions, just like the music for any civilization, the music fitting to your current technological progress (and not theirs for some reason.)

Jannisaries were really good at first, Ottomans couldn't expand their borders that much without them but later they caused lots of troubles and became one of the reasons of the fall of Ottomans

The Ottoman empire was built on the power of Slaves; Janissaries were slave soldiers, there were actually relatively few Turkish corps in the Ottoman army.

They werent really slaves as the western world would see it... they were young european boys conscripted and taught Muslim culture and trained specially in infantry war, smarter ones could pursue academic posts, they still have their fierce fighting techniques in Chechnya.

Mehmet II was the greatest of all the Ottoman Turks, He was the one to take the last resort of Constatinople, as the yewel on his crown. He became known as Mehmet the conqueror and was the first muslim to truly embrace the power of the bombard.

Ottaman means head crushers by the way. not a nice name for them.

Ottoman, doesn't mean head crushers. Originally it's Son of Osman. Osman refers to a mythical bird or a "dragon." Ottoman is just a name of a muslim Turkic tribe.
