  • hey there, i have a problem with my 95 discovery,, i have to clean the IAC every month or two, otherwise it stalls and pisses me off..... what the hell is wrong with my car ? could it be the sensor ?

  • @devil0slayer sounds like it.is it giving you a code for the iac?

if yes then you'll have to replace it.i myself just go to pick and pull

  • Watch the language

  • @keemosabi trust me when i say that was watching the language!!!

  • thanks a lot dude

  • @mitsubishi433 thanks man, hope it helped

  • Hi, I have a mitsubishi eclipse rs 95. It runs fine but in low rpm (ussually from 3rd to 2nd gear ) it shuts off apparently with no reason. I´ve never cleaned the IAC. Do you think it could be the problem?????????????? Thanks

When it goes off you see the tacometer going completely down but never up again.

  • great video man, really appreciate it! keep it up.

  • good how to, thanks

  • My car has been pulling that code for two years, my tags expired almost a year ago and have been driving with it anyways, I hope this fixes it, thanks.

  • "how a car fucking runs" how a video should be made. Thanks for the video my saturn SC2 has been idling out of wack after highway driving. I'll give this a try

  • What does 'checking the codes' mean?

  • thanks for the video, on my honda i've let the engine running and little by little sprayed the carbon choke cleaner 6-8inches away to make sure the air/cleaner mixture is even into the throttle body and reved so that the cleaner gets all the way done. your car will smoke as it burns and goes all the way through but after the cleaner and letting it run while i clean my K/N filter it runs like a champ/ better..

  • My camshaft position sensor just took a crap last week. The car was running like shit for three days up to the moment of failure. Unbelievably, a code was never registered.

  • thank you it was very helpful, although my procedure was a bit more difficult =)

  • I cleaned that same piece and my camry idles much better. Next thing i have to do is change my coil pack even tho it was changed during the summer because my buddy mixed up the connections going to the cylinders and it corroded. What would be a reasonable price for the coil packs?

  • @jnoelpb87 at a pick and pull..around $10

  • @jnoelpb87 coil packs? that shit gets expensive. like $85 brand new from autozone for my car :/

  • great video man! straight to point.

  • Thanks for the tip! My 2000 MPV was making a loud humming sound when I'd first start it up in the morning. Cleaning the IAC valve with a little carb cleaner fixed it.

  • informative vid, but lol @ all the bad language.

  • stupid hick

  • Update buick 3.8 I removed the iacv to test and noticed that the shaft with the valve head had became unscrewed i tightened it down and now its starts and idles fine.thanks

  • Also got a check engine light after TB cleaning, I also cleaned the MAF, it was dirty, at least my lights don't dim anymore, I'd rather have it idling at 1100 than 400. I think for the most part, it's all sealed up electronics, you can't adjust much, if anything at all,on these cars, they are meant to be so fuel efficient, every drop of fuel used is perfectly calculated with electronics and software.

  • I just took apart the throttle on my 2008 Yaris, aside from finding that there is an ENGINE COOLANT line that runs thru the throttle (don't know what that could be for) there is no IAC, at least not on the throttle body itself, there is a 7-pin (might be 6 or 8, I forgot) connector that hooks up the electronics (there is no wire to the accel pedal). With 56k miles it was idling low around 300-400 rpm with no loads, now after the TB is cleaned, it idles at 1100, a bit much I think.

  • Hello; Thanks for the help,I removed, took apart and cleaned the throttle body and iac it was dirty I disconnected the battery reassembled hooked the battery back up and it would not start unless i gave it some gas, after a while it ran on its own at a very slow idle.Trouble codes 22 tps and 36 which is not listed in my haynes book 35 is the iac and there is a code 35 for the carborated version. The throttle position sensor is a couple of week old could it be the problem.thanks

  • @roselle125 it could be the problem.ive had a couple map sensors go bad quick.

its so hard to tell someone whats next without being able to see, hear the car and problems for myself.

  • @roselle125 You dont state what kind of vehicle you're working on but if you clean the IAC, remove battery terminal. on restart the computer may to re-learn the parameters. Hold light pressure on the gas pedal for a few minutes and release slowly. Idle speed should then be stable. It will improve when adaptive stratagies learn your habits.

  • Hi; I have a buick lesabre 3.8 i had a 22 code bad tps which i replaced it would intermittently not start and run unless i would hold my foot on the gas now i' getting a 22 and 36 code bad idle air control valve and the same problem any idea what is happening the weather has been hot any help would be appreciated

  • @roselle125 love the 3.8,had one in my 95 bonne.

lets try this and see if we can fix it for free.remove both pos and neg terminals to the battery and leave them off to reset the computer.

then remove the throttle body.my guess is the whole thing is gummed up.remove ALL sensors,so its nothing but the metal throttle body itself.

get urself some carb and choke cleaner,an old toothbrush, and some qtips and clean every passage,nook,cranny...etx.make it look new.

    clean the iac.put everything back..test

  • any idea on located the iac on vw 2002 jetta 2.o

  • THANKS MAN , well i used to go to my mechanic everytime it stalled and that pissed the living fuck out of me.

i`ll be cleaning mines every month atleast so it never fucks with me again , i have an old land rover disc. they all do that i heard but its such a small problem for such a sweet ride

  • i used carb cleaner and took the film off the inside of the TB. ive had idle problems ever since

  • the maf is also used for injector calibration with a calibration tube so.........that's not all the maf is for...

  • you the man!!!! thanks

  • how do i know which one is IAC? since i dont have my car engine manual. what is it exactly? is it a sensor or a valve that open.. i dont what it is and the purpose of it.

i have idle problem and misfire in the engine when i accelerate.

  • @BlueRice --- That sounds like a timing issue on the misfire and the iac is in different spots depending on brand and models of car.... generally around the injection and air systems.

  • @huntingstill i dont think its the timing issue. wouldnt the timing would cause a noise problem? the engine sound fine when but sometime it idle weird and misfire when on low rpm accelerating

  • would the iac affect bad gass milage?

  • If only the bolts wouldn't break off before I could get the sensor off..

  • idk what i did but somewhere along the line when changing a fuel injector i jacked up something and now i idle at about 3500RPM

  • @Choirboyjr11

check your vacuum lines..sounds like unmetered air is getting in causing your engine to rev high

  • thanks i checked all the lines and found that the head of a bolt broke to my EGR valve and i fixed it

  • hey man.. if u have a bad iac valve... would it cost the check engine light to come on? thanks

  • @stavroni

yes.you can have autozone hook up a scan coder to your car to find out what is wrong for free.

replace the part and reset your pcm

  • thanks man.. btw i live in canada, and there isnt autozone in here... lol

  • tps can cause similer symptoms

  • Fuckin awesome

  • Great Video. True, Throttle body and IAC looks similar on all cars. My Idle wont go now.. When I remove Vacuum tube from the throttle body (one that pulls throttle once u start a car) my car began to work... But its the way around and I got no clue if it hurt my engine

  • Hey dude great video but I saw a FRAM oil filter on your video at 4:44 and good mechanics don't use that filter on their cars thanks and keep up the good work

  • lol fram doesnt deserve to be capitolized!

  • helpful tip bad language

  • thanx dude more of this shit its good

  • the car sensors are retarded cause so many problems. I had a CEL for TPS high voltage input and my idle speed was really high. turn out the TPS was bad replaced it and then the car would not idle at all without gas being applied. I cleaned the TB and replaced the IAC motor and now I have high idle 2800 rpm. If i manually adjust the IAC spindle and run the car I can regulate the initial RPM but then it rises really high again and stays high the whole time even once engine has warmed to 210 F

  • your idle screw is out of ajustment, there is a tine screw near the throttle linkage on the TB with the car at idle adjust that screw untill the idle is acceptable

  • I thought that too at the time... came out that the ECU went bad and was sending the wrong information to the sensors to keep the idle adequate. Expensive repair :/

  • damn! never saw an ECU cause an idle problem just no start concerns. But first time for everything right!

  • This guy is awesome! You can take most of your intake system apart without being a professional. However, you might want to invest in a small ball peen hammer, b/c you will need it to remove some parts.

  • if idle air control dies completely could it lead to no start at all ?

  • not normaly,99% of the time it will run in limp mode and trip the computer/throw a code letting you know to replace it.

  • What about random stalls?

  • how do u do it on a subaru turbo, wil it cure it from reving up n down

  • i have a old mitsubihi galant, my mechanic suggested to by-pass the original idle control valve--sort of modifying using that of a toyota's idle control assembly... is this worth taking the risk? i tried cleaning it, to no avail...the idle remains weird...

  • Anyone know how to do it on ajeep cherokee? mine dont idle too well it usd to a little higher, now it just near-stalls sometimes then kicks back,. if i ever jump start it i have eto keep the gas down for a quite a while or it will stall out. Is that normal?

  • Cleaning some shit! lol

  • Thanks, but not enough swear words.

  • lol

  • im gonna try this

  • good job sir.
