  • LOL at Habana at 1:28. The SA anthem is the most beautiful anthem I've ever heard but that performance was just disgraceful.

  • LOL at Habana at 1:28. I think the head shake tells you all you need to know about how bad that performance was lol. That singer disgracedone of the most beautiful anthems I've ever heard. Love the SA anthem!

  • this is a disgrace

  • It's so funny

  • He has spoiled a great national anthem

  • oh my word...my ears are bleeding. what a way to fck up the greatest anthem on earth

  • did the french apologise for this insult yet ? that dude had to be splift before apposing his veersion of sa anthem !! nevermind we did have the last say last month against that lot !! 45 : 15

  • I think the best bit is when you see his friends. Lmao at that white guy with the drum

  • hahahaha!

  • That is really a beautiful anthem !!

  • lalalalalal LOL

  • @stephed. You're wrong. The singer was chosen and appointed by the SA embassy in Paris. We know it because it was a real embarassment here in France.

  • Wow! Is this man available for the opening of the FIFA World Cup opening next month. Gig is in Johannesburg. Sponsorship should be easy. Bring band as well.

  • 1:30 and 1:50! haha..

wow that is enough to make em depressed 'fore the game

  • I love how he improvises.

    Thee.. oh thina

  • Is this typical of the singing talent in SA

  • i almost shit my pants out of laughter and horror

  • Did South Africa end up winning this match?? ......If they did.....GOOD ON THEM!!

  • Somone call the gendarms he's murdering the SA national anthem.

  • so who picked this guy then?

is he someone famous or something?

  • @tehshah1 the french picked him to sing the Anthem for SA.

  • @stephedl hmm that wasn't such a good idea to let the other side pick, was it? lol

  • 0:13 he's great.

never saw an anthem sung like this.

he should sing our anthem next

  • @dimitri98989

    yo he's a nice musican

  • hey GrandonaGodoy- who the hell are you to call us "not humans"? Last I checked, I have everything to qualify myself as a human being.

  • watch?v=mwfObUeskqU

  • Look at Schalk Burger at 1:47

    He looks horrified

  • look at habana at 1:28 lol but that was a disgrace

  • I think almost anyone could sing it better than that. Did he forget the words?

  • Wow... Whoever put up this video needs to put a note that this is actually NOT how the anthem is supposed to be sung.

Honestly speaking, I have not heard the South African national anthem, and when I typed "Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika", this was the first thing that came up.

If I didn't read the comments, I would've thought this is how it's SUPPOSED to be sung! o_O

  • is he from jamaica?, cos real south african will not murder that song like that. lol.

  • harryc44u ???? ru in a special programme, u seem like a retard.... pls stay in ur home, in fact dont even leave ur bedroom it is probably 4 the best... just continue to wank off a dream of a better life!!!

Anyway this stuff is hilarious the look on Habana's face is priceless... hehe

  • in my opinion, the south african anthem ranks as one of the best anthems in the world, and it's a shame that he made a joke of it. I was reduced to laughing fits on hearing it the 1st time, but after a few more tries I think his interpretation is not that terrible (aside from the very beginning and the outrageously out-of-tone bit at 1:13.) If you see the funny side of it, I think you will appreciate his way of singing a bit more, although I'm not sure if he's singing in true reggae style.

  • The dude must have been on crack. Utterly shameful. Sad thing is, come this 2010, the South African national football team isn't going to do that much better than this joke singing the anthem. Pity that too because the anthem, when sung by professionals (or even decent amateurs) is a beautiful anthem.

  • 1:14 :D

  • wat the fuk was that???

that dude truly is a turd nugget wit dreads

  • Ok, I live in England and thought that it was good that apartheid is gone, BUT DAMN!!! Please bring back the whites to rule and put that fart mouth on death row on robbin island!!!

  • im a 100% behind you buddy!!!

  • And the winner of South Africa idol is?

  • that...was...horrific

  • makes me embarrassed to be south africa lol :L so was their performance in that game

  • What can u say about a person who can't see how ridiculous he is singing like that??? Shame shame shame

  • bryan habana was laughing

  • And Heinrich Brussouw

  • i like it

    go all blacks

  • i like it.

  • I think he is singing the SA anthem on sat in croke park.

  • I doubt South Africa will ever let in sing again

  • Where can I get the CD?

  • I think i just threw up in my mouth.. what a disgrace!

  • The next South African Idol!

  • Hillarious, just like the pathetic ban handed out to the Burger for his gouging and the pathetic response of PDV & co. Typical SA - too arrogant to think they're answerable to anyone

  • One of the funniest things I have ever seen on live T.V.

  • Just as pathetic as the South African console in London

  • Comment removed

  • wow he really fucked up the south african anthem.

    fucking disgrace to our anthem.

  • I agree man, that was pretty bad.

  • Bullshit, wu let him sing our national athem?

  • Damn that was crap!!

  • hahahha he shouts and out of tune and at the start it sounds like hes shouting at someone lol

  • hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahaha

  • I dont know what's worse- the shittest Eddie Grant impersonator ive ever seen or some really thick sausage munching retards looking like they are about to cry and run home to mummy.

  • I was ashamed and insulted as soon as he opened his mouth at the game. I wouldnt call myself soft but... as soon as he started "singing" i started crying, not the good kinda crying! How easy it is for a single individual to ruine all the good memories, of a once GREAT country. Thats my view, enough said.

  • lol @ 1:50 RASTAFARI! hahah

  • that is so funny its hard to watch!!

  • nothing was funny there he disgraced our country that chap

  • Comment removed

  • Naas Botha blamed the loss on the anthem, what a moaner.

  • lol 1:13

  • You'll have John and Edward singing Amhrann na Bhfiann next.

  • How to humiliate yourself and the country. 101.

  • O. M. G. Somebody shoot me now. Please. It would be a mercy killing.

Ups to the rugby team for keeping reasonably straight faces.

*Bangs head against desk to erase the horrifying memory.*

  • ....too much Malawi Gold

  • I heard it was bad but didn't realise how bad it was until now - and I don't even know the SA national anthem.

  • die ding is 'n poes

  • Moving stuff.

  • When you have dreads like that, you can quite frankly do whatever the fuck you want.

  • Give man man another joint! He deserves one after that marvelous performance!

  • this guys a rare talent

  • Lmfao

  • That is terrible... no wonder everyones flipping about it!!!

  • Can't we just get rid of these anthems? Last refuge of the scoundrel and all that.

And does anyone listen to the words?

SA (verse 2 seSotho) 'God...intervene and end all conflicts'. Hang on, no rugger then.

FRANCE chorus - 'May an impure blood Water our furrows'. In SA that's hate speech.

ENGLAND - they don't have one (GSTQ is the UK anthem)

AUS - let's quickly pass over this one which starts 'Australians all have ostriches, Four minus one is three' etc

  • @DontThinkJustWonder Of course England has one - it's Land of Hope and Glory. Which is infintely better than the dull dirge that is GSTQ

  • It's an odd double standard. On the one hand, all the references to god in my Canadian anthem show just how anachronistic it is for a culturally diverse nation.

On the other hand, if I move to Australia, I get an ostrich? That might just be worth keeping them around.

  • The only problem I have with the rasta is that he isnt high enough. Everyone knows rastas are most productive when stoned

  • @allinjim123 you are not fit to breath our air - get off this plant now - we don't want your kind here or anywhere else. You are a sick non-human!!!

I am a proud South African who can take the good times with the bad times!!!!

  • Holy shit there are some people with a severe lack of sense of humour. That was priceless!

  • This was in fact the best individually Reggae vocal arrangement ever - IT GAVE ME GOOSE BUMPS - I almost attended. At 1st, with a heavy haert, I was so sad not to be part of the crowd in Toulouse, now "JUMPING UP and DOWN" - I would have too say - SJO, - du bist eine grosse drolletjie of a Reggae singer - translated: He sounds like ne might have a huge DROL up his behind - was that a HUGE ZOL!!!!!!!!!

  • @allinjim123 - I really hope you're not South African. If you are, please leave - we're so over neanderthal neo-nazi cretins such as you.

  • Sies man!

  • Wow, allinjam123 - I trust you are not South African, just as much of a disgrace to be of human kind to utter such slur.

  • Oh dear. You really need to grow up mate before someone does soemthing very bad, and deserved, to you.

  • "n Moerse skande vir SA....mooi man, ons naam is alweer gat !!

  • I think it was very beautifully performed. The singer had a good voice, and his vocal arrangement was well thought out.

    Also, it was GODDAM TERRIBLE.

  • Wat 'n patetiese optrede kan jy dit ooit oorvertel sies dis 'n moerse skande.

    Shame on you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm ASHAMED TO BE SOUTH AFRICAN.

  • I hope his booked for the SA 2010 opening ceremony, priceless well done France.

  • The fact of the matter is this was a national anthem.

If it was any song I would probably laugh. But we take pride in our traditions

  • ROFL ROFL!!!HAHAHAHAHA he has clearly had his dosage of erb before the game :P

  • So it was a balls up - get over it and have a laugh. The "powers" will stop it happening again.

Maybe if everyone from SA didnt grow up ordering an adult around since the age of 3 they wouldnt be so uptight and such arrogant fu#kwits.

  • hahahahahahahaaaaa ae clearly this guy and his Rasta fwends where so high and paranoid, thanx 2 de Herb they heavily smoke

  • I can't believe what I just heard. Can you believe his excuse was that they turned his earphones off during rehearsal.

oh and how is our country in anyway related to jamaica?

    What a disgrace

  • blame the south african embassy in france. he's the guy that chose him to sing lol

  • I am speechless..that guy made a total ass out of himself, the springboks and our country...But we actually can't blame the guy it was the south african embassy who choose him to do it..so check your references dude!!!

  • wow... thats bad.... like.... wow....

  • This is really insulting....

  • They should definately ask this guy to sing at FIFA 2010! LOL .... naaaat!

  • what an idiot!

  • Its makes me sick how every video about South Africa ends up being a canvas for racial attacks & apartheid talk! How does a video on this gentlemans lack of singing skillz turn into a racial war?????

  • Welcome to the internet

  • i have no idea how someone can be amped after that!! FAIL you dumb s@@t r

  • Brilliant. I heard that it was a 'reggae' version of the anthem, but it's not even that - this guy can't even hold a tune. Hilarious! Hope he sings ours next at a football match - it'll give the thugs something to chew over! national anthems are rubbish, aren't they!?

  • Pretty insulting to us South Africans!!

    Thank alot #@$^#$^*#&^(#

  • Oh my god that was truly shocking!

  • holy shit that was the best reindition i've ever heard :)

  • Damn...

I'm a Wallabies supporter and yet I wouldn't want my Bokke counterparts to be put through that much pain.

  • @ IhabAdreamHuh

'daft liberal foreigner?' Dude, I'm born in raised in Durban. I attended both a 'non-white' school during Aparthied and an integrated school after Aparthied was abolished so I don't just have an intellectual understanding of the SA education system, I've experienced both systems. I see that 12 years after leaving SA some people are just as bigotted, downright ignorant and in denial as when I left. Its embarassing that even with all the opportunity, you're still not educated.

  • Luckily, the denialists are not the only whities left in the country diverrmiis.... :) Dig your comments! Thanks...

  • You guys are hilarious with the debate reminds me of farmville

  • But this IS farmville - ho ho!!

  • Built for THEM!!! Ouch RenJen39! Shame on you for showing your seriously bigoted "colours" - yes I live in SA. Truly hope you don't (or if you do - soon won't)... Beautifully put diiverrmiis!

Would like to add that the vandalism was by the very few - it only takes one arsonist - present in all societies - to burn down a school. The levels of anger and frustration during the apartheid era were understandably at boiling point most of the time, yet many youngsters persevered.

  • MSplod you want to speak of bigotry? how about you reflect on your own intentions for a little while, the very fact that you call him a bigot for expressing his views, shows what a bigot you are.

  • Wah hah hah!!

Bigoted views remain bigoted views... Yes I am a bigot! I am bigoted against individuals who discriminate against an entire nation or race for the acts of a very few vandals or criminals... or because they have their own feelings of inferiority and need to dump their baggage on someone or something that they perceive to be inferior (for no good reason) - dream on ihab... HUH!

  • You've no idea how stupid that sounds? I'm racist against racists...same thing really. You must be an Englishman eh? Only an Englishman could be this stupid. It is not a matter of inferiority vs Superiority my stupid little Saltneck friend, in order to determine which is inferior and which is superior one would have to transcend into a metaphysical state for the duration of the verdict so as to avoid any biasness in the assessment, it is rather about acknowledgment of unique characteristics.

  • Wah hah hah!! Just read what you have written - preferably when you are sober - I think you will blush... Angolans, Englishmen, phew YOUR true colours are certainly showing - much like your underwear...

  • Characteristics, which are worthy of self preservation, there is nothing to be gained in blurring the lines between the races, that is and was the principle of Apartheid, it is to separate, to give each and every one the fundamental human right ironically enough recognised by your liberal English concept of the united Nations "that each has a right to self determination".

  • You really ARE digging yourself deeper into that little dark hole aren't you? Ag shame!

  • Lol, it's obvious to everyone here that you're an incompetent, MsPlod...you make use of Ad hominem attacks in order to refute factual statements. I could have made the same responses I had made just now and call you a cunt if I wanted for added effect, it would in no way devalue the facts contained within the statements. You on the other hand would cling to cunt as indicative of my ignorance or even vulgarity.

  • Comment removed

  • Dear Sleightofhandz

Just the sort of eloquent response one might expect from a person of SUCH distinction. wah hah hah...

  • Built for 'them', you say? Going to school and being educated are not necessarily the same thing. You should take a closer look at the not-too-distant history of the South African 'education' system and analyse what exactly was taught at black schools, the standard of 'education' that was offered compared to white schools and the facilities that were available to black kids as compared to white kids. Then you will understand what these schools represented and the anger they aroused.

  • You daft liberal foreigner. Several White people risked their lives going into their townships to give them a proper education system, and blacks who had the ability to learn, came from those education systems with doctorates, etc and functioned rather well, unfortunately outside their homelands. As is typical of them, the reason their education system went to hell and back was because they decided to march with the banner "no education before liberation". No time before that.

  • Secondly, yes it was built for them, technical schools, universities etc, as per the decree for the establishment of self sustainable homelands. Not only did we fund and build their schools from first grade to college level, but we funded and built their infrastructure, parliamentary, commerce etc. To suggest that we provided them an education system etc with the intention of maliciously keeping them ignorant is absolutely ridiculous. It would not have benefited us to do so.

  • And EVEN if their education system was poor, it was directly their own fault that it was so, as every homeland had within themselves the authority to advance their homelands, both in terms of education and in terms of self sustainability if they replaced curriculums with that which provided absolutely no intellectual stimulus it was their own decision to do so, and it is far more likely that they did, as is evidenced in the steep decline in intellectual stimulus found today.

  • Who can fault you though for your lapse sided perception on the true nature of Apartheid? You're from Angola after all! It is in your interest to perpetuate the myth of evil Wyatt man. We see how wonderful your society turned out over 2 decades of independence and still a shithole, I suppose the Portuguese are still to blame for your stupidity. You've shot the crap out of each other for as long as you've nearly had independence. Face it you people are incapable of self Govern.

  • Aaaahhhh!! I see whence you come - and it is NOT a pretty place! Glad not to be with you in your own private hell. Would not have tried to respond had I realised you are so drunk with your own vitriol that you are unreasonable, irrational and probably in need of some serious counselling. Hope you find someone who is able to help you professionally. Get better soon. Light and strength in your healing....

  • Typical of a liberal, to seek refuge in Freudian analysis. It is hard to contend with the facts, understandable. You had fancied yourself in a fairly decent position, you could easily belie and swindle the foreigners as long as there remains not a single soul that points out the harsh realities of the homelands and what they actually entailed. And that the "terrible" fate of the blacks were as a result of the blacks themselves who had been granted a gift and had pissed it away.

  • Eish!!! One of the most embarrassing things I have seen in a sports arena - EVER!! SA deserves the best singers to sing our national anthem. How DARE the SA sports administrators put an unmusical tw@t like that in front of an international audience to represent our wonderful country? All praise the SA squad for not laughing or burying their heads in shame, they had a right to do either!

diiverrmiis - that IS about right except many black SAns have risen above the horror - all praise to THEM!

  • Shame! That was horrible. Lol!

  • Actually South Africa is what it is today because generations of black South Africans were denied basic human rights, access to education and proper medical care and had their culture and dignity destroyed in order to create a race of workers that could be controlled and forced to build the economy that certain 'special' South Africans could reap the benefits of and enjoy a priveleged life of luxury. Does that sound about right?

  • you are soo wrong!!! that is a onesided look at it... when schools etc were built for them they just burnt them to the ground and/or vandalised them.... btw do you live in SA???

  • yes.

  • To have a thing like that singing the National Anthem, is a disgrace and it proof to the world that the authorities have no respect and dignity for the SA national anthem, the country and all their inhabitants, that is why SA is what it is today.

  • Nee regtig skiet die donner

  • 1:13 Eish !! iya man........LOL

  • What a shocker! Goodness me. I'm stunned.

RT @sagoodnews Ha! RT @gussilber - It's a sign of how far we've come as a nation, that a Bok rugby squad can sing Nkosi better than a man named Dumisani.

  • The weed in france is not even that good for him to sing that bad! ha ha

  • I just love this. Made my day. He's right up there amongst our pantheon of greats like Julius and Leonard. My fellow citizens, for everything else there is mastercard. But having one of our monkeys making a twat of themselves in front of the world.... priceless!

  • Shocking...

  • Lol wtf.... haha what a fail... wd for getting a irie brother...

  • Besides it is rather the French that we should complain!

After the Canadian music like "Celine Dion" you send us a "singer"!

It's horrible to send us your garbage! Pollution of hearing!

  • I believe that some South Africans have benefited from this incident to spill their hated of France and others.

Obviously you know this singer if he is to you. If We have had a French singer living in South Africa massacring the French anthem, iwe would severely criticized the singer not the country.

South Africa is a young democracy(20 years).

The crime rate is one of the highest in the world.

    Many Boers were originally French

Francois Pienaar was.And you put out him!
