@BigLouey92 It doesn't have to be the best of all, that's down to taste. But even artists today can appreciate that it took more skill for a 6-year-old boy to write and perform symphonies to kings and queens so well that he's praised for hundreds of years, than it does for them to engineer and auto-tune the latest 3 minute hit that's sure to be forgotten in a matter of 7 years. :-)
@MelVanders Yeah But The Requiem was composed by Mozart just before he died. And a lot of the other Stuff he composed was stolen by Bach and Händel. In my opinion, Mozart did some nice Stuff, but he doesn't belong in the List of great Composer. My opinion.
@BigLouey92 It's because it's the best of all that it became a classic ;)
To be honest, i dont think there's a best artist in music or whatever, but Mozart did so many great music... This piece in particular... I love it... Except this version. It sucks! It's played way too fast!!
This is the first piece of mozart i have ever listened to, i never usually listen to music of this sort but it really did bring tears to my eyes it has dragged me away from the main stream bull shit that i am so used to listening to.......
@ThePurityControl your comment is baffling. just because a movie puts salieri as mozart's killer doesn't mean it's true, in fact it's absolutely wrong and was made up for the sake of drama. please respect salieria, he was a good composer and an outstanding teacher counting beethoven, schubert and mozart's son as his pupils.
@cuagmirag sign! In fact, salieri is an terribly underrated composer. Thank god loads of his work are starting to be recognized more nowdays; hopefully, one day his music will be made justice
schaut mal ins Mozartforum(dot)com in den thread "Mozarts Death Mask?"

When I first this music I burst into tears, I knew immediately what naked/deep emotions were expressed in this music, I regulate my listening of this piece because it has such a resonant impact on me.
I have just lost my husband and awake during the night trying music for the funeral, this music is healing and comforting. As so much of Mozart is. His genius is not just academic, I think it is "soul music" and just wonderful
Enjoyable, but then my musical criticism is pretty unsophisticated. Perhaps hearing so much dogmatic nonsense from certain professional musicians has left me simply asking myself, "Did that touch me? Did it COMMUNICATE something to me, weak basses, lack of polish and controversial intonations/tempi notwithstanding? It's not a hard question, and if the answer's "Yes" I feel that the performer/s must have got something right! But then, perhaps I'm just poorly qualified!
@locomotifx By god. You've just summed it up perfectly. I've never seen anyone sincerely say that. Any intelligent person that can speak their mind without being rude, superior or needlessly inflammatory is worthy of respect in my books. I just thought that I'd throw in my 2 cents and say that I completely agree with you.
@Bumfacepik2 Almost like common sense, one would think. I just think music is there to be enjoyed, if you don't like it, well, no biggie. Glad you agree.
@haliwellhobbs ..... music critic or not he makes a very valid statement though. in the introit he does not develop his themes enough.... like i said a valid statement. you on the other hand. simply disagree with him because you don't like the fact that he pointed out a flaw in this work.
I love Mozart and i have some Mozart´s cds,i have been traveling in his piano´s concertos, his sonatas ...his operas. But this one make`s me cry when i heard it!My losting dear and loved wife was the first to show me the greatness of this mass...forever i will remenber her! This music it`s like a tunel between the LIve and the Dead, love you Mozart and my Wife forever!
i find the cherubini requiem to be a finer composition. what this piece lacks in subtlety, it makes up for with general confusion in development and form. A truly inferior composer.
It's been argued that Mozart's first "masterpiece" wasn't until his Piano Concerto #9 when he was 21 years old. That means he had 19 years of intense studying before he made this piece..Just something to think about.
We forget sometimes that Mozart was just a man like everyone else. I love Mozart like everyone else, but we have to realize that every great composer, and that includes Beethoven, worked very hard on their craft. Mozart was not entirely born with this gift of writing divine music. He was born with the gift of desire, emotion, passion, and to work extremely hard at his craft. It didn't hurt either that his Father taught him from the moment he was born.
@beethovenlovedmozart can you proof this by yourself do you can write a requiem like this at the end of your live that people wil remember over a 300 years because mozart did and his music wil live for ever even over a thousand years his name is on the list of the greatest genius of man at earth and his live as a men just of us thats the reason that i like the movie Amadeus
@FritsGerlich07 You don't get my point.. I will never be a Mozart and if you didn't have a Father who trained you since 2 years old, you won't be either. My point is that deligent study and feedback from his Father helped a great deal in his development. The stories about Mozart "Never making copies" and he "Wrote things down after one hearing" were false.
@FritsGerlich07 Mozart said himself in a REAL letter, that all this didn't come "natural" to him. He said "Nobody worked harder then me in my craft". He was a very deligent and hard worker just like Beethoven was. I believe the combination of starting young and having prolific training aided to the success of both Mozart and Beethoven. Their brain actually changed as they were growing which created their "genius"..Just like your hands grow to the piano if you start young.
@FritsGerlich07 bro. you do realize Amadeus is a fictional story right? and i will take you up on your challenge. i just started writing a requiem mass. i refuse to take you seriously though. your grammar is horrific. it is not just punctation. its LIFE for fucks sake. "end of your LIFE" how old are you? this isn't even really his requiem mass. i know it says Mozart's Requiem. but he barely wrote any of it. mozart was a melodic genius. but nothing more. stop putting him on a fucking pedestal.
@iamthewalrus1126 i do! i never said the movie Amadeus is real. i said i like this movie because Mozart was like one of us in that specific movie and not a god in human form, and by the way good luck with your Requiem i already buy a ticket for the scala in Milano

@haliwellhobbs ..... music critic or not he makes a very valid statement though. in the introit he does not develop his themes enough.... like i said a valid statement. you on the other hand. simply disagree with him because you don't like the fact that he pointed out a flaw in this work.

i find the cherubini requiem to be a finer composition. what this piece lacks in subtlety, it makes up for with general confusion in development and form. A truly inferior composer.

It's been argued that Mozart's first "masterpiece" wasn't until his Piano Concerto #9 when he was 21 years old. That means he had 19 years of intense studying before he made this piece..Just something to think about.

@beethovenlovedmozart I'd call the 2nd movement in F minor of Mozart piano sonata no.2 a masterpiece

The stories about Mozart "Never making copies" and he "Wrote things down after one hearing" were false.
beethovenlovedmozart 1 year ago

"end of your LIFE" how old are you? this isn't even really his requiem mass. i know it says Mozart's Requiem. but he barely wrote any of it. mozart was a melodic genius. but nothing more. stop putting him on a fucking pedestal.
iamthewalrus1126 1 year ago
@iamthewalrus1126 i do! i never said the movie Amadeus is real. i said i like this movie because Mozart was like one of us in that specific movie and not a god in human form, and by the way good luck with your Requiem i already buy a ticket for the scala in Milano
