I thought that might be the case. Interpretation is such a large part of our thinking processes that it can be quite an unweildy thing at times. But as long as we know it's possible to misinterpret, we just might survive each other. And your explanation was well said. But let's not forget that NOT saying those things doesn't make you NOT a racist, but also doesn't MAKE you a racist as well. People are not that easy to figure out. Thanks makotoS13. One day at work one of the black guys was "being cute" and calling the white people "saltines." so after the second or third time he called me that, I said "Whatever, Gleek," and I assumed he didn't know what it meant. A few days later, he was at home watching "Superfriends," and when the twins with the monkey came out he blurted outloud, "Holy Shit! He called me a nigger!" I still laugh when I think of that story. Hope this was somewhat relevant. :)

I just saw the movie Happy Gilmore for maybe the 5th time on tv today, and everytime Adam Sandler is seen getting ticked off, breaking golf clubs, or punching Bob Barker in the face, I laugh. Maybe subconsciously we know that it's a movie and not real. However in actual life we know how much anger whether it is projected by us or onto us is damaging. Why that is can't be understood. It's end point logic. would like to see a body scan video of the effects of anger on the body. There is no why to why anger causes our blood pressure to rise or for us to get red in the face or cause stress and headaches and so forth.

I've often felt tempted to use racial slurs when I've felt anger against someone of a different ethnicity, but I've always held back out of a fear of being seen as a racist. Maybe the fact that you used it while you where angry shows your true feeling and perhaps you exposed yourself as a racist. Or perhaps your don't really care about the color of others skin but because you where angry you said something that you thought would inflect the most hurt.
