  • Made in '97

  • @goatmanvideo82197 Certainly was! Myst was released sometime in '91 or '92, I believe, and Riven was released in '97. The series then went on hiatus until 2001 saw the release of Exile, then Revelation in 2004 and finally End of Ages closer to 2005/2006. I personally feel that the original story of the games ended with Revelation, and that End of Ages more continues the Uru storyline.

  • Jesus Christ lady, Learn to freakin talk! Seriously, you do realize that your personal input isn't what's getting you so many views. It's the game itself. It's what happens when the LPer stumbles over her own words, and doesn't really provide commentary that teaches anyone anything, or is all that entertaining.

  • @Fallout2Forever Sorry to hear that, but if you don't like my commentary, you're free to play the game yourself, and you really should! Riven's a great game! And yes, I'm well aware that it's my playthrough getting me views, as it is with just about every LP out there. What is your comment supposed to make me do exactly? Stop? Take me down a peg? Because it's really done neither, and you're just making yourself look like a jerk. Now please relax, and have a nice day. :)

  • I got a question: ¿Who are the guys which appear athe begining when you are trapped behind bars?

  • @daniel921126 The first one is Cho, a member of Gehn's Surveyors which are like his personal army to keep the natives "in line". The other is a member of the rebel Moiety faction who broke off over religious differences (the Rivenese follow Gehn as a deity, the Moiety follow Catherine).

  • Wow! nice walkthrough, riven is one of my favorite games. Also a question (not to be weird) but what gender are you? I cant quite tell... your voice sounds sort of more like a girl, but you could be a guy... And its rare that a girl is into the myst series. Come to think of it, it's rare anyone is into the myst series. (sadness.)

  • @Benchiladas I'm all woman. :) And thanks. Been into the Myst series since I was about fourteen or so.

  • I only own the original 5-disc set of the game. I got rid of my old computer years ago and, consequently, haven't been able to play Riven since. Have they come out with a more recent version of it, as they did with Myst, or is there still a way to run the old version?

  • @TheNeverEndingAge How new is your new computer? Vista and Windows 7 do not run the five-disk edition, support for games older than about 2000 or so has been ended.

You could try playing on a virtual machine or emulator, I guess. I'd suggest just buying the Tenth Anniversary edition with the DVD-ROMs, all three games ran for me just fine but required some tweaking - they're still very old games - and I believe Riven is missing a necessary Quicktime file for it to run on Vista/7.

  • I have the origional disk set for this game. I'm awesome :D

  • @PathofAshes So do I. However the original five disk set does not work on my laptop, which runs Windows 7 64-bit Home Edition.

  • @ThePhantomSafetyPin Lol, that sucks. I still use XP on a really crappy Pentium 3 and it works fine.

  • on steam it says this game was released in 1997?

    is that true?

  • @TheDarklord0211 Correct. Riven was officially released on October 29, 1997 by Cyan Worlds, then called Cyan, Inc. The company was very small at the time, and you have to admit that the graphics for the game are just gorgeous considering the time it came out.

  • Robyn Miller is a musical genius: the music of Riven brilliantly fuses despair, native Indian elements, and a gentle sense of danger.

  • @templar19 Oh yes, such a great blend of elements in his music... Might not be as flashy or epic as Jack Wall, but it's certainly awesome music.

  • "Thank God you've returned!, i need you're help..*write, write, write* there's a great deal of history that you should know....*write write write*....." lol

LOL the close-captioning at 3:04 "President Clinton explain why" HAHAHA

is it wrong that i crack up when Cho gets dragged off-screen? XD

awesome start :D i'll watch more soon!

  • @LadyRevan7 That's... er, not what I said. ^^;

Not to be rude or anything, but are you actually hearing impaired or were you using the CC for fun?

  • @ThePhantomSafetyPin

lol i know, i was just using the CC for fun because it's never right and it always has random weird stuff, i just thought it was funny that it said 'President Clinton' :)

  • @LadyRevan7 Oh. Ok. XD

I like to do that on TV sometimes. They mess stuff up sometimes, too. Ah well, it's a computer program that does it, what can you do? XD

  • @ThePhantomSafetyPin

    lol true that XD

  • I'm really embarased right now. I commented half way through the video and thought you wouldn't go back to the starting point again. *shame*

  • I think it's actually possible to look over the age and see the thieves corpse. Could you try that for me? :)

  • @Xaio30 Yes it is. No, I can't, because I'm too far into the game and Cho (the thief) wakes up about halfway through and leaves to report to Gehn.

  • I've actually played Riven before. Someone at school gave it to me for a week, but I forgot to play it except for the day before I was supposed to give it back, so I only got about thrity minutes into it.

  • Cho?!
