  • People interseted in throat singing should try the 1999 documentary Genghis Blues. Paul Pena, a blind blues singer from San Francisco, learned throat singing on his own. He impressed a visiting Tuvan group so much that he was invited to a throating singing competetion in Tuva. He was greeted with great enthusiasm and won an award. Not only do you hear a lot of singing from Paul and Tuvan natives, but you also see quite a bit of Tuva. Netflix has it.

    Sadly Paul died in 2005.
