The Lords had such a haunting, hypnotic sound. I think I heard Open Your Eyes on the rare occasions KROQ in LA played it during the 80s, but I remembered it and loved it. Now I'm so glad to discover their other songs were just as cool...
Stiv was one of the greatest rock n roll performers that ever lived.
I've seen lots and lots of bands since my childhood in the 1960's. Been into alot of different kinds of music. I was lucky enough to see Stiv perform with the Dead Boys at CBGB's in NYC, and later saw him with The Wanderers. And I saw him twice with Lords of the New Church. He knew how to use a stage and delivered full on rock n roll energy every time.
@worldmeon Seen these guys at the Greystone Theatre, Michigan Ave, Detroit. My buddy Jerry stole 2 beers off a guy that was 'just standing there'. My girlfriend, Jerry, came there with the intention of robbing the box office. It was just a couple of kids taking money at a table in the front. Too many people, so we went to the back of the building and climbed through the bathroom window (my girlfriend did not like that), and we walked across the stage with not a sould saying a word.
@squirtkiller - hey squirtkiller, I've seen the lords on stage in the eighties and it's been the most exciting concert ever, but nowadays you can find also good music, don't live in the past, but really for today :D
@katwins OK i'm trying. But honestly i can hardly find good music like this today except from old bands and artists. "good music" nowadays is not half as good as the old stuff IMO and i consider it as good just because it sound less worse than the others :D. Can you recommend me some good stuff today :D
remarkable, this song takes me back to my army years. The mid 80 's ,what crazy times we had jumping out of those C130's . Thanx to all the insane paratroopers in CSC COMPANY. What a rush as we shuffled to the door. Yes we LIVED for that DAY. Airborne All the Way. 82ND
Thanks for posting. My sister always loved th "Lords", but, as a "Metalhead", I hated them. I like them now after being stationed in Germany. They are still big on the Goth scene. God Bless Y'all from Texas!

Saw them at St Andrews Hall in Detroit some time in the '80s... fantastic show! The holes in Stivs trousers were quite entertaining!

I am from Detroit. You never say anything bad about Stiv! You go that! Never speak bad about Stiv or the Lords, or else. Got that? Detroit.

This a great cover of the Grass Roots, that helped lead to my discovery of 60s garage.
