It's too negative, unsubtle, and it sounds like it's your organisation talking instead of John Howard. You needed to come up with a more clever line, one that actually sounds like an argument he might make, but with obvious flaws, suggesting that he lacks even the average person's understanding of climate change.

Thanks for your thoughts, handofTodd, I wrote this little epic and can see merit in the point you're making ... but. But I fear we had to be "unsubtle" to make the point. An alternative to the last line that I did consider was "Now I am telling you we ARE doing something about climate change ..." followed by that sick look Max does so well; but in the end decided we had to be more up-front than that. It is, I fear, part of the tyranny of having to make your point in 30 seconds.

Introduced the GST so that the % of GDP taken by government can continue to rise. Fortunately some of the increase was used along with asset sales to reduce the government debt. Australia's international debt has continued to rise.

The mandatory superannuation payment was introduced by labor, all we have seen in the last few years is tinkering around the edges. As for the economy, it's hard to find a western economy not doing well ( as it is hard to find one not going further into debt).
