  • Go EVAN!! he's thinking about competeing in Nationals.

  • Check that hard core focused look before the start of his programme!

Fabulous footwork sequence. A very handsome man, and a terrific skater.

Was this his Olympic programme - thanks to crappy YouTube we can't view it. :(

  • BORING!!

  • He's so damn tall. It's like watching a giraffe figure-skate, but in the most awesome, graceful way.

  • i love evan and he's a really great skater but does anyone else find his triple axel downright scary looking? it's impressive he can pull it off so often with that unusual technique

  • @beatbox924 his 3 axel is what we call spinny, and he goes around instead of up like plushenko.

  • @fanboys7

That makes sense. It's pretty cool looking, especially because his body is so long, even though it's not textbook.

  • I didn't realize he won the Grand Prix for the first time in his career in 2009. His success here and at the World Championships a few months earlier did make the decision to skip the quad at the Olympics pretty much a no-brainer for him.

  • i've seen girls skate with more grace and use of body than that. and he doesn't do anything original exept wave his arms around like a bird and no original spins. do twists, nothing awesome about his skating exept his jumps. he doesn't have the whole package

  • Le champion sans quad? il a joue au niveau feminin! Il doit practiquer avec les femmes!xD Plushenko est le vrai champion au niveaux masculin. lol~

  • @hshim80 So pretty mush u said that Plushenko is stronger than Lysacek. You are so Funny (responce to lol). He probably skates with girls to flirt (lol) and isn't gay (lol) omg wtf is with the lol xD omg omg omg!!!!!!! I take french btw...

  • @ToadyTune Because Judge's scoresheet even proves that Plushenko is stronger. Check at which part Lysacek gets points and deductions, NO Quad, deducted 3A-2T(-0.40), 3F-2T-2T(-0.56). 2 combos out of the total three get minus points. OMG. Then this means his program clean? His skating style is pretty much girly. The top 2 ladies have his difficult jumps:3A-2T and 3L-3T

  • @hshim80 he should have gotten an edge call on his flip on the short and long. they Bull shit plushenko and instead taking away points, they just give it to him.

  • He is so gorgeous.. =)

  • @southernstar0946 :) Im glad u arnt a hater!!

  • evan lysacek is not gay. it's hearsay. some of the other male figure skaters he competes with are in truth, gay. but he is not gay and he ignores this piece of gossip because it is crap.

  • The USA have bought gold for Evan Lysacek, but to buy respect it is impossible...

  • @Vyun1969 How could u buy the gold?? (Im sorry I am an American)

  • Самый худший олимпийский чемпион всех времён и народов. Нескладный парень, не прыгнувший ни одного четверного. Куда катится мир? Кого нам втюхали? Так, как умеют лгать американцы, не умеет лгать никто в мире.

  • he is so perfect!!

  • Tbh, and people will hate me for this, I still find it weird to watch men figure skate.

  • Heh, my history teacher used to go to high school with the guy. It's kinda interesting, he's pretty good too.

  • kinda good? he won an olympic gold medal in vancouver

  • he has the best body ever

  • I'm from Russia, but i prefer Evan Lysacek's performance. It's really more charming, artistic.

And the music fits his performance.perfectly

(by the way, it's russian composers - Borodin's and Rimsky Korsakov)

grats to Evan. He looked better. imho.

  • that's a pretty graceful cow if you ask me..

  • not really, he does everything as uf he is so heavy, and his hands like two stiks waving around lmao kim yuna is gracefull, lysacek should go back to his cows and farming lmao

  • what's the difference of sp and lp? just asking.

  • short program is shorter and long program is longer.

  • @eirelav215 short program = 8 required elements focused on the technical side of things, i think it was added sometime around the time Janet Lynn was skating to help skaters who were more athletic vs. artistic - in the long program or free skate, there are some requirements like step sequences and the number of spins and combos but the skater within the context of the rules are free to add or leave out elements as they wish

  • @toplay4fun2003

that's the answer that im really looking for.

you are truly the best one aside form the dude above you.. geez what kind of answer is that and i bet someone will answer that way. geez..

thank you so much for the accurate explanation.

  • Best ever! Russian Lost. Very sore loser

  • @ToadyTune how is he a sore loser when he has done more than lysacek who skates like a girl and can't even connect to the audience. so overall, lysacek got support to win, plushenko didn't since he hasn't competed in 3 years. and if you were a high leveled skater, you'd know that. but you aint

  • @fanboys7 Read my message jerk.

  • Such a graceful man.....just wonderful. Beautiful Jumps...the emotion he puts into each performance is amazing. The way he skates is just....beautiful. I am so glad I got to see him skate his gold medal show. :)

  • ITT:

    RUSSIA IS BUTTHURT.

  • Plushenko-the best!№1!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Евгений-ЛУЧШИЙ!Россия с тобой!!!!!!

  • Pozdravliau Evan, go go USA!!!

it is nice to win, others should know how to loose!!

Spasibki ;-))) god bless America!! ;-)))

    ne zaviduiite !!!!

  • he's only 24 y.o.? i thought he was 36!

  • Bravo Evan. Congrats on your Gold!

  • hussamGURU - Lysacek does not simply look gay. He is gay. read his interview. It is not that there is somehting wrong about it though...

  • Why would you even consider making this comment about is sexual preference. It makes no sense to me at all. Would it matter if he had dogs for companion animals rather than cats?

  • Plushenko is doing art of the ice. How can you even compare him to Lysacek's mediocrity....

  • Art on ice? I think Plush is brilliant technically, but the artistic part of his performances is really not his strongest point. Compared to other great Russians like Ilia Kulik and Alexei Yagudin and even compared to Evan's artistic side Plushenko is a jumping machine.

Sorry, but that's my opinion. he really is a brilliant skater but his programs are pain to watch,I can't bring myself to watch any of it for a second time

  • @FroMDreamS I´m with you. I think that "Program components! note at the olympics were outrageous. Yagudin and Kulik were much better in the artistic part than Plushenko. Kulik had the grace of a ballet dancer (without looking gay!), Yagudin was....Yagudin simply the master, he invented footwork....nowadays Takahashi and Lambiel are far far far more brilliant. But Plushenko still is one of the best , hands down! And Lysacek is the master of ISU scoring system

  • you call hip shaking art?? It sure is dancing though...not figure skating.

  • sexy

  • hes hot

  • der is brrrraun !!!!!!!!!

    he is brown!!!

  • @totempfahl yeah and fucking hot.

  • fuck yeah america

  • I'll be the first to admit I didn't know much about Evan heading into the competition but the way he handled himself with such class should make the USA proud. Holding the Gold medal is an honor and he is more than deserving. Even when Plushenko said the things he did Lysacek only said the best things about his competitors. People can say anything they want about the quad but you can't argue this man put his best on the ice that day. Thanks Evan for the way you represented the USA!

  • I think that it's passed time that people should stop respecting PUSSenko and give him the same attitude that he gives everyone. He doesn't deserve respect, he's already arrogant enough and apparently that carries off onto his STUPID fans.

  • What a great athlete! His coordination to the music is flawless and it shows so much emotion and drama in his skating. You're a pleasure to watch, Lysacek!

  • all you people saying this looks weird or gay shows how retarded you are. this is human perfection. all your minds are dirty.. too dirty to function and appreciate something like this. gay men are obvious and nasty. if you take it up the ass then it would be hard to hide it with this sport.

ps: for the ladies and children that might read this... (excuse my french) hehehe

  • you sound like you were touched as a child....your father must have really loved you....with every inch of his body.

  • This man does everything to the absolute best of his ability, and is an inspiration to individuals in every field. As a musician, I am most struck by the fact that he must practice not until it's perfect, but until it can be nothing but perfect. Wow: what a role model!

  • Wow the music and even the program is so similar to Yuna Kim's Scheherazad from last season....he even starts the program with double triples just like Yuna

  • my sister knows him from high school....just sayin:)

  • @rosesrred17 HAHA i want to know him! lol jk where did he grow up?

  • I want him to beat plushenko, him or abbot would make a good olympic champ

  • my god hes gorgeous. and i agree about the transition scores with indiatree. Lysacek is more daring, and frankly, id rather see him attempt something more interesting and go into the jump with a little sloppiness regarding his edges than not try at all. gobels - i think being robotic is the least of his worries. i agree with the comments about his arms, however its nothing a few weeks with a competent ballet teacher couldnt fix- he just needs to learn how to use his back in conjunction

  • Also, I read about Skate Canada, which is unfortunate, and I oppose their (alleged) homophobia. However, your comments about Lysacek being "robotic" sound like a direct quote from Weir, according to a NY Times article, as well as your paraphrase about how being "macho" only belongs in rugby and football. Homophobia? There is such a thing as a masculine gay man, you know, like there are feminine straight men. Weir could be one of the latter for all we may ever know. Who can prove otherwise?

  • Weir is openly gay and lysacek is straight

  • @MrAmazingness1234567 thanks, but so far, Weir has not admitted or confirmed any thing. While it seems obvious (just watching him and listening to him talk), his is still not "openly gay". As far as Lycasek goes, having a celebrity athlete for a girlfriend doesn't mean anything. But I really don't care about either of their sex lives- AT ALL. Sorry to bring it up- I just wanted to point out that assumptions can be offensive, often wrong, and have NOTHING to do with figure skating.

  • I agree that i dont care what gender they like its just..... weir makes men's figure skating look unpleasent: he is a great skater, but there are less guy skaters because of people like him who make it look weird

  • @MrAmazingness1234567

Moral panic is what keeps people out of the sport. If you're a free and mature person you will not care what others do.

  • I think he's HOTT. ;)

That being said-the best on the day should win-and Evan was the best overall. Well deserved win. Scary as hell take-off on those axels though-I don't know he makes the landings. His arm movements seem busy but they're long and then. I saw plenty of arm waving in Jeremy's routine, as well as some of the others. Evan is lanky so it's more pronounced on him. I like his costume-whatever the snake means-maybe the King is a Snake for murdering his wives, or a phallic symbol?

  • By the way, I really like the snakes. They are cute, like his smile!

  • @goebels99 I have NO idea what you're talking about. I never realized how macho it was slide your hand over your eyes slowly, or how manly that cute little wave at the end was. Robotic or not, I thought he was graceful and very handsome, and that comment had as much logic as if you said that gay men are incapable of playing rugby or football. Assumed stereotypes about gender don't determine athletic abilities whether it's skating or rugby. If they DO, then THAT would be homophobic!

  • Then do your research. Over here in Europe this thing is all the buzz in the figure skating world. It even made prime time news here.

  • @goebels99 Before I wrote the last comment I was well aware that Mark Lund, an OUT GAY man, made some remarks against Johnny Weir in favor of Lysacek. But that doesn't make him homophobic. Not even "internalized". I think it is unfortunate that there those who have issues with feminine, like the recent "androphilia" trends. But in reality, not all gay men are feminine. I took your advice but I've found little online about what you're talking about. So I'd appreciate any links you can provide.

  • Aren't you a great person!!!!!! Guess what??? NO ONE CARES WHAT YOU THINK- just because someone likes a sport doesn't mean you should hate on them:

Leave us alone and go do whatever it is you want to do with your life

  • What a super idiotic comment!

  • I am very fearful of his takeoffs. The flip is almost done on an outside edge, and the Lutz takeoff edge really isn't deep enough. He could get hit very hard in Vancouver with deductions. Also, he rotates on the ice alot on his triple Axel takeoffs. But the judges seem to like him.

  • amongst those who skated to scheherazade kwan's edit is the best.

  • i love how fast he spins!! a lot of people slow down so much these days, with all the position changes.... but he stays fast :-)

  • some very ugly positions throughout the program. He's lucky he has this so-called 'presence' on the ice, cause thats all thats keeping him from being mediocre.

  • Beautiful. HIs lines are beautiful. I enjoy his skating.

  • 2:35-2:40 He's totally got diarrhea face

  • ?? seherajade.... ?? he needs to study with watching female figure. especially... yuna.

  • does he still claim to be str8 ? he does the same tired spins in every program . i think the Weir hates him because he is a closet case .

  • great!

  • i don't want to sound negative, but i think that the officials are being generous with his scores. giving too much on PCS.

  • This thing's being overlapped last year's Kim Yu-Na in some parts... and it's rather distracting

  • well in that case,

    yuna overlapped michelle kwan's performance

therefore yuna's performance was pretty distracting too

  • iukkk osea k pasa con los jueces patina de el asco el tipo parece k tiene la caveza pegada con el coxis no tiene nada de artistico es mucho mejor johnny weir

  • Oh no! Whah happened to the see through shirt? :( That was great!

  • This was AMAZING! That one mistake he made did not take away from the skate. IMO this could beat Plushenko. His lines curves and movements are phenomenal! And I agree, great costume change

  • His line is great, spins good - v much like Robin Cousins.

I like him a lot but Sheherazade? HOW many times has this music been used in figure skating?! Just strikes me as at best an uninspired choice at worst, lazy. And again, the costume is the same, uninspiring.

His SP this year is great and his FS last year was perfect for him (Gershwin, dinner suit, v Gene Kelly on ice).

By no mean unbeatable at the Olympics if anyone else can skate two clean programs.

  • it's not a champion skating( vey bad jumps! and my opinion that Johnny Weir was better!

  • He didn´t deserve to win the gold.

  • This isn't too bad, though not my favorite skate. I agree he doesn't always use his height to his advantage. He has improved over the years, but I like his short program of this skating season better than his long program.

  • His frantic and uncontrolled body movements make me cringe. His PCS is the biggest joke of the season.

  • I feel the same. It's obvious he trains very hard, but there's no elegance to his skating.

  • Great performance! But the costume...:P

I'm really surprised to see that some dislike the lines his height creates. I must say it's one of the reasons his my fav male skater competing today, and I think one of the reasons his winning competitions recently. It makes everything he does look just a little bit cleaner and smoother than his competitors.

  • His long limbs present a nice line on the ice and the program is better than Plushenko's IMHO. I wish he would lighten up out there and stop those awkward facial grimaces, though. Is he re-enacting Sheherazade's difficult life or something?

  • thank you so much for the upload! :)

  • Smart idea to lose the feathers from his hands, they used to exaggerate his flailing.

  • He seems to have no feel for the music at all. He has consistent jumps except for his triple axel, but the whole is less than the sum of the parts.

  • OMG.PC score 84?! All judges likes him,

  • i'm so happy to see these comments! super inflated score and no one seems to know what it's based on. even frank seemed shocked.

  • He hasn't a great artistical expression, but he often wins because he is a great competitor. I don't like his style very much.

  • Not a fan of Lysacek.

Great skater and good performance, certainly not his fault for being tall, but just don't like his arm flailing, style, and artistry.

  • I agree completely with you!

  • Judges seem to be making a red carpet to the Olympic podium for Lysacek.

The new costume is much better, and he knows sometimes what to do with his face. But the components - why so much higher than for Plushenko? - they both deserve something around 78 - IMHO.

  • Well, I don't know about all of the component scores, but Lysacek's transitions scores should be much higher than Plushenko. Plushenko does the 1st four of his jumping passings with nothing between them but crossovers. He might do footwork into one later jump, but that's it. That Plushenko gets in the 7s for transitions...THAT is the biggest joke of the season. At least Lysacek does spirals, spread eagles, and reverse rotation turns into his jump takeoffs.

  • As time passes and I see these scores I agree more and more with Joubert when he said that quad should be given more points because that's how the sport will keep improving. I like Lycasec but I don't agree with this judging system

  • lol, such a score without a quad a second 3A. Judges just do everything possible to ruin this sport and take it off from the olympia.

PS: I understand, with such aliens components it isn't necessary to jump at all.

  • This is a 4th place long program.
