  • waay better than the englidh commentator

  • 100m 9秒多= = 變態

  • wow u gotta love commentators like these

  • hes fast but the way he runs makes him look slow..either way hes fast as hell he got the record despite slowing up at the end anif he had ran full speed al the way he could probably have got 9:70 NICE JOB ASAFA!!

  • @pinto90210 wat do u mean by "the way he runs makes him look slow"??

  • @junmun123 I think he means the way asafa moves ( relaxed, easy going ) makes it look like he is not going fast. It's because of this relaxation his time was so fast. after 70-75 meters you cannot accelerate anymore, the more relaxer yet powerfull you run the better the time will become. yet he slowed down ofcourse so time could have been even better

  • @TheDuncan1987 oh i see, i get it now, so once top speed is reached, it is impossible to accelerate or speed up even more right?? no wonder people who tense up and look like they are running fast actually end up running a slow time because they are wasting all the energy tensing their facial/neck muscles when they should really put the effort into their running and maintaining their speed instead.

  • hes fast but it looks slow

  • really strange

  • @aqshadowlord it looks fast gatlin looks slow

Basura racial.

  • dude... he guy runs so relaxed.

  • op het laatste houdt hij zich precies in :(

  • the 100m are so hot as never in history... Powell Gay and Bolts.

    May the fastest win

  • Both him and bolt are in the olympics for jamaica in the 100m. bolt ran a qualifying time of 9.85 and powell ran a disappointing time of 9.97.

  • does an1 know if he is going to be in the olympics this year i know bolt is it would be cool if they go face to face, the 2 world record holders.

  • but only bolt has a world record =)

  • looks slow :(

  • we want the new record of the world of asafa,he can do 9.70

  • The only reason I can see slowing down is because this might have been a heat before another race, but reguardless I would run every race to the best...

  • ytf did he slow down at the end

  • just think what time he could have done if he had ran through the line. why the fuck did he slow down at the end of that race.

  • WOw... that would be a 9.69 or 9.70 secs. Amazing, if he wouldn't slowed down in the last 15 meters.

  • Hahahaha. Yeah right.

  • shut the fuck up u dumass... i think u mean 10m

  • lol 37kmh thats astounding

  • noticed that he slowed down the last few meters.

  • coz he knew he wud win and had the record.

  • coz it was tha heat ....... he was savin energy 4 the final....he ran 9.77 in tha i think

  • hey, I'm seven months old and I can run the 100 in 9.89, so I'm pretty close.

Powell is a powerhouse. If he had Gay's top speed, he would be untouchable.

  • did he slow down about 10-15 metres before the finish?! he could have maybe shaved off some more time if he pushed all the way

  • hey im 13 and i can run the 100 in 10.3 yah 10.3 my ass

  • im 14 and my record is 10

  • amazing it didn't even look like he ran all the way through either it looked like he strolled through the line crazy.

  • Bravo Powell!

  • cee 9.74 e negli ultimi metri era anke tranquillo!!! mado ke mito!!! troppo bravo!!! atletica the best!!!!

  • well uh im 18 now and can run the 100 ms in about 10.7 seconds. dont know if thats any good, just decided to throw that out there since everyone else is stating their times n shit

  • i'm 13 n my record is 10.3 secs!!!!

    i'm close!!

  • if ur that fast n ur nt runnin for england u need to be in an athletics club fast.

    if u r tht fast...

is ur name in the athletics times list for the year?

  • i'm nt in england

  • well uh im 18 now and can run the 100 ms in about 10.7 seconds. dont know if thats any good, just decided to throw that out there since everyone else is stating their times n shit

  • dude i run the 100m in 11.56 at age 14 but my season starts in 3 weeks and that time is goin down.

  • 10.99? that sucks...

  • It will go to a jamaican, but not to jamaica.

  • I ran 10.99 at the age of 16 after a lot of hard training. So it is possible to get a good time early on. All you couch potatoes who are abusing teh results stated by people here, i have one thing to say to you lose some weight fattys and you'll run just as quick ;)

  • He is amazing - no doubt about that =D

  • mate you should see running from police, its not pretty but im pretty quick

  • I don't think I can drive my car 100m in that time!!!! Gotta take my hat off to the lad. He's fast!!!

  • bdbdbdaaaaa is stupid...mo greene had the fastest human spedd ever recorded (29.3mph)...powell has the fastest acceleration ever (2.1 seconds to top speed)...tyson gay is an ass

  • holy fucking shit what just happened??

    quick is deadly...

    asafa powell 4 president

  • is it just me or did he take off like a cannon. that is the fastest take off i've ever seen, stop the video about 10 meters into the run and look at how far ahead asafa is. Damn, with that kind of takeoff who cares about finishing.

  • That take off is insane! I think thats the secret to his speed cuz it looks like after 45 meters he just cruises on momentum.

  • what a fantastic body he has, i want to have it hahahaha

  • shut up

  • thank you

  • very nice pitty he didnt try in the end, he stoped running again

  • legal wind too lol nice

  • this commenter is way better than the british one in the other video.

  • stop talking bull to those teenagers, the timing and setup will be wrong

  • why does that man slow down??

if he didnt he would definately be hard to beat for generations to come but if only....

  • I reckon Superman could beat him in a race

  • blackbeatsez ur stupid if that was ture ud be running on there you fool

  • no he wouldn't lol, i run 11.6 and i'm not there. but i'm also not 14.....so he's either B.S.ing or he'll run the track world in a couple years

  • lol my frend wen he was 12 or 13 he ran 11.2 and broke the national reocrd

  • yeh im sure buddy, u liar

  • dude its tru now he is 14 and runs 11 flat hes crazy

  • Dont listen to them. It completely possible. After training heaps i ran 10.99 at the age of 16 for 100m. A lot of people can run that quick at the age of 14, doesn't mean that you will get to the olympics.

  • yea i ment for he broke the record for his age jeez ppl lol

  • monton de incredulos no se han visto las caras y estas hablando, monton de niños gringos, ponganse a entrenar en ves de estar en youtbe mas bien

  • wieso läuft der nicht aus

    dieser doper

  • Lol im 15 and get a 12.6

    I need to get faster.BADLY

  • well i`m 13 andrun 11.56 in the 100m but that was 7 months ago.

  • Asafa doesn't let up at the end, he's done at the end. That's why you'll never see him winning a major 200m race.

  • I don't think so mate. You'll soon see when the next 100m Olympic gold goes to Jamaica.

  • 12.15 seconds is this a good time for a 13 years old boy ?

  • i dont think so tbh. I ran an 11.7 as a 13 y/o and i came 4th in my state here in australia, and i am presuming it is harder in america...

  • 11.7 what state are u in?

  • this man is a rocket

  • the fastest drug free man

  • i think he will better this record - i have definately seen him start faster - and it seems he jogged the last 2 metres or so (sounds pathetic, but if he spritned it = faster time) - and i agree, SOME athletes are drug free and i feel hes one of them - he has a body BUILT for sprinting - tall, long, muscley etc..

  • The Jamaican track team is and always has been steroid free. Unlike US track, we run for national pride, not individual accolades, and there is no pride in a steroid-enhanced win.

  • Asafa Powell sempre e solo il migliore!

    Altro che Tyson Gay !!!

  • So when does everyone think he will get caught for steroids and have to give all his medals back?

  • The commentary was fantastic, i think i enjoyed it more not having a fucking clue wat he was on about!

  • man if he didnt let up i think he probably may have had like 9.72 or even 9.7 flat

  • i hope that was a joke ? or are you dillusional?

  • Think dat mite jus be a joke lol just a theory :P

  • I once ran 100m in 9.62 seconds but i chose not to race as a career because it wasn't my dream.

  • Marion Jones finally decided to admit her steroid abuse. Like I said, just because you are not caught in the act, does not mean you are not doing it. How many need to get caught before people get out of the dream world and acknowledge what you need to do to compete at that level? Why regulate that event? It's a waste of time and obviously the testing is not 100 percent.

  • tyson gay een ready for powell

  • tyson gay ain't on no steroids, if you notice tyson gay dosen't have a good start but he still has the best top speed, if gay could get off before powell he'd win. when asafa powell ran a 9.77 for the 3rd time i beieve tyson gay was catchinh him so imagine if gay woulda been beside him he could have ran like 9.75 or 9.74 hiself. and he actually has a time of 9.76

  • 9.76 is gay's best. powell ran 9.74 jogging the last 20 meters! both of them running at their best, powell would destroy gay.

  • and tyson gay ran a 9.76 with a bad take off so wtf and powell eased up at like the last 5 or 10 meters bih

  • yeah your right, powell let up in the last 5 or 10. but easing up as powell did was a bigger handicap than the bad start gay had and he still beat gay's time by 2 tenths

  • he jogged the last 10meters

  • he jogged the last 10meters

  • Bumboclaaaaaat...... what a man fast

  • he starts like a bullet but he jogs for the last 50 meters. WOW!!!! is this natural????

  • you have to be one of the most pessimistic, cynics I've ever heard Brad. Is it impossible fo you to just praise this guy and say he's an amazing athlete, rather than just make unspported claims that he's drug doping

  • Don't confuse pessimistic with realistic. Just because someone is not caught in the act, does not mean they are not doing it. All of those 100m sprinters are amazing athletes, but to be number 1 out of those amazing athletes, it comes down to who becomes the fastest while taking drugs.

  • Steroids work wonders don't they!

  • thats just what you would do BRAD.

The guy is running clean, you are bad mouthing the sport. If you dont have anything good to say Shut up. Where in Jamaica do you get "brad type undetectable steroids"

  • I guess you believe in Santa Claus too. You are a fool if you believe that 100M runners competing at that level are not on performance enhancing drugs.

  • Are you saying Jamaicans are so backwards that they cannot get their hands on Steroids? Continue believing that these guys are clean in your little Santa Claus world.

  • It is not about the availability of drugs overseas its the need to win. The best Jamaican Athletes dont need to break records to win hearts. Its a natural talent in The Caribbean, more predominant in Jamaica. So check your facts before you make an unsupported claim or allegation. Santa Claus is underlines your grounds for such stupid baseless allegations

  • It almost seems like because Asafa Powell is Jamaican, you feel that he is a natural athlete, which just sounds ridiculous. Keep believing that he is all natural. I too would hate for the truth to come out.

  • its not a feeling its the truth. Jamaicans have higher than normal occurrences of fast twitch muscle fibers and nerves thus the number of sprinters per capita.Your so pessimistic do you plan on waking up in the morning. Or are you too smart for us mere animated clay. Get off your bullshit high zebra and integrate with humanity and reality. you make communication rhetorical.

  • Jamaican sprinters have just recently started to perform better than second or third place. So were their muscles just not twitching fast enough 5 or 6 years ago? Like I said, continue to believe that these sprinters are clean, if it makes you sleep better at night.

  • See how much you know about Jamaican athletes run a search on Arthur wint, herb McKinley, George rhoden, Donald quarrie and Shutyour Piehole. Most jamaican athletes up to 8 years ago did there pro work in the Us and never got to that winning edge steroid so They felt more honour in silver and bronze or getting to the finals. Only to be beaten by a bunch Steroid filled, rapidly disintegrating Americans now not all Americans are on steroids or detected steroids.

  • See how much I know about Jamaican atheletes? You just confirmed exactly what I commented on. Which Jamaican 100M sprinter was coming first place 5 or 6 years ago? That's right, none.

  • If I am a bodybuilder on steroids and you are just a bodybuilder, who do you think will be bigger and stronger after 2 years. (ME) If I am a pro sprinter on steroids and you are just a pro sprinter, who will be faster after 2 years. (ME)

  • O my Goodness man such derrière. Your telling me that you can mask a evolution on NOS(Nitrous Oxide)as a formula 1 car and keep up with the race. You don't get faster training on steroids you get it just helps you do the same thing easier not necessarily faster

  • There are steroids for strength, endurance, recovery, speed, etc... We are in the year 2007. If you want speed, there are specific steroids to take, unfortunately some make your body excessively tight, which is why Ben Johnson did not like Stanozolol, he prefered Furazabol. Steroids nowadays are far more superior to the Steroids from back in the 80's. Even insulin (non-steroid drug) enhances your performance and that is 100% undetectable.

  • Ben Johnson juiced to the maximum runs 9.79. Justin Gatlin runs 9.77 and gets caught. Asafa Powell runs 9.74 smoking both steroid records. It is ridiculous and not logical. If it does not make sense, you know as well as I do that it is not true.

  • Ben Johnson, Linford Christie, Carl Lewis among many others were all heavy steroid users. Do you honestly think that Asafa Powell and even Tyson Gay are able to beat their times because they have some sort of magical mystical gift? The gift is drugs. I don't know why they even bother regulating the event as they are all juicing.

  • just say powell is one of those lucky ones, usain bolt and veronica cambell all from well know schools, so its not about steroids or other drugs, it's all about you enviroment, natural athletics and training..... i know for a fact, USA likes to blow up shit, so if he had any drugs in is system, we would know by know

  • You're right, but maybe they've started to perform better than second and third because they're catching the first place cheats.

  • Asafa does not wake up in the morning and say to himself "I can't wait to win hearts today". Let's be realistic, he thinks "I need to get a pay cheque". The only way to get a nice fat paycheque as a professional sprinter is to pop off a plastic nipple and inject yourself.

  • But It takes talent to do what Asafa has been doing consistently for the last 3+ years. It started at 10.10, then 10.01, then 9.99, then 9.95, then 9.91, then 9.8's now 9.7's and no one in recorded history has gone below 9.8 with legal wind more or equal

  • So I guess your going to tell me next that he is no longer running 10.10 because he is training really hard now and has finally decided after all these years to start listening to the coach more? What a bunch of foolishness.

  • before you suggest your theory, go do some home work... not because jamaicans was not running below 10 sec in the past on international level means that there were'nt run jamaicans in jamaica who could not run below ten.

  • in fact right now i can bet that there or others down there who are faster than powell, the only problem is that it all depends an the high school they go to, if its not in the ONES ATTENDING high school champs, they don't get to show there proformance, and thats a problem for 3/4 of kids down there

  • Rieti is a special track...It is only 400meters of altitude but it feels much more...And there are all the conditions to go fast..Often national records are broken there...

  • RECORDO EL MONDO!! RECORDO EL MONDO!!

AND he slowed down at the end! Unbelievable.

  • man imagine this guy in rugby

  • Awesome run but for all those who think Powell would prefer the World Record to a World or Olympic title - get real!!!! Win one of those and you will ALWAYS be a World and/or Olympic champion. You are only a World record holder until someone comes along and breaks it - then where are you in the history books, eh???!

  • Just Incredible..

  • Apparently, you know very little about track.Because those who make history are those who break reccords...so when people will recall the histroy of the 100m his name will be mentioned at least 4 times...And many more to come..

  • He probably missed his peak, since he lost at the Osaka World championships...again :(

Quite sad, actually, I am not one of the "haters"...I wish Powell could get the World and the Olympics.

  • Powell is extremely fast but the fastest man ever is Donovan Bailey! Bailey has the highest top end speed ever recorded at at mind bending 27.3 mph!

  • shut up all u fucking geeks

asafa powell is the best 100m sprinter. mayb of all time...the relaxation..the strides, not american 4 once. beat dat tyson gay- gay ass

  • dude a cheeta could barley run a 6.6 on the 100

  • cheetahs run 3 to 4 sec

  • Naaah... trust me, as generations move on, the human race will eventually evolve to get faster, and faster, and faster.. over time, world records get broken, and with medical and genetic advances in time, we'll be left in the dust by the newer generations.

  • 44 Strides for the 9.74 run.. jogging the last 7-8 strides.. a faster time is easily in his reach! In his final where he ran 9.78 he ran 45 strides. His world record is also due to the altitude of the track, the higher the track in altitude the easier it is to run fast, increasing your time up to 0.12 or 0.18 seconds!

  • It is more difficult to perform at record level at high altitude, as there is less oxygen.

  • Less oxygen perhaps, but an athlete only takes 1 or 2 breaths during the 100m sprint. the air at higher altitue is less turgid and molecules pass through it easier, therfor making it EASIER for movement, however it is harder for repiration

  • Pazzesco

  • woooo!

  • i dont think powell will run below 9.6 but he will get below 9.74 no question. but if he tried to keep the same strenght at the end i dont think he would. he has to loosen out at the end because otherwise he'll tighten up and bust a nerve, or worse his spine. what i mean is that he cant run flat out for the whole race but he will beat that record again.

  • asafa powell you are the fastest runner you are my favorite, gay is also but you are better

  • Asafa powell has a good chance to run in the region of 9.65-9.70 because when he ran 9.74 he eased up near the end of the race. to all those people saying he will be able to run 9.5 .. lets get real people... asafa is fast but not that fast.

  • Yeah I don't think any human being will ever reach 9.5. Powell is going to break his world record though and I hope he does it at the Beijing games. I could see him going maybe 6.68 or 6.67 at the very fastest.

  • WAT THE FUCK !!!! 6.68 ! are you completely mad . Thats 3 seconds quicker than he runs now . Do you have mental problems ?

  • Powell and Gay are both very fast. Powell just has a much better start. In every race they have been in together Gay has had a miserable start and had to play catch-up. He always seems to be catching up and just runs out of track, which just goes to show that he has more top end speed with slow acceleration.

  • Well maybe Gay is more suited to 200m because the 100m is all about fast acceleration. If Powell runs his race properly then Gay would be blown away.

  • If he didn't slow down I think he could have gained about 0.02 or 0.03 seconds at max. However I've read that at the final (always in Rieti) he ran in 9.78 with 0.0 m/s wind. If he had +1.7 m/s in that occasion he would have bettered the record further for sure.

  • wow it looks like he really slowed down at the end there

    anyone else see that?

  • he said he can run under 9.6 secs

  • You ever noticed how the last three world record holders in this distance, not including Justin Gatlin or Tim Montgomery, are bald headed? That must be the 'in' thing now and it helps you break world recors. lol, just kidding!

  • If Gay and his agent really were confident he was faster, they would race Powell on the upcoming Asian circuit, instead of telling meet organizers to make Powell run the 200, unless they are willing to pay an outrageous fee to compensate Gay for having to race Powell in the 100 meters. Powell states he will race Gay tommorow. Gay's people say they have to see $ signs to race Powell. Seems like somebody is scared to me

  • how many titles has this bum powell won??? none

  • how many records has he set??? TWO!

  • BRUSSELS (Reuters) - Jamaican sprinter Asafa Powell failed in his bid for a second 100 meters world record in less than a week although he still powered his way to victory at the Van Damme Golden League meeting on Friday.

Powell, who broke his own world record with a time of 9.74 seconds in Italy last Sunday, finished in 9.84 after a restart following a mistake by Briton Marlon Devonish out of the blocks.

  • asafa powell is a choke artist , everytime he is in a race with some one just as fast he chokes everytime, he was no where in sight when it mattered at the world championships

  • I see there are some Powell haters on here. Powell beat Maurice Greene twice when Powell was only 20 years old. He owns Tyson Gay in head to head matches at least 5 wins to 1. Gay hasn't ran close to his fastest times with wind legal settings. As a matter of fact Powell has run faster with less wind. Gay needed a +2.2 to run 9.76. Powell ran 9.74 with a +1.7. Powell's 9.78 with 0 wind is more impressive than any of Gay's 100m times period.

  • Yeah he beat Greene in 2 races in Europe in 2004, by 6/100th of a second and 1/100th of a second. My question to you, "Enstein" compare both Greene and Powell at the same age 24/25 years old; How many titles does Greene hold over Powell? 4 World Championships to huh, NOTHING! Hell if you even want to include Greene's Goodwill Games victory of same people he beat for his 1st world title in 1998, than you can say 5 to 0!

  • If you look at it that way it's true...but Asafa is happy for now, leave it at that. He said he wouldn't trade the record for anything.

  • Tyson gay eat ur heart out!!

  • yute why being mad mind

  • he cud have got 9.5 if he really pushed at the end

  • he slowed down at the end too!

  • è il migliore!!!

  • *but

  • his run dosent look that fast ..bit since its ET there should not be a mistake

  • haha 9 flat, are you kidding, he pulled up yeah, but not 0.74...even though it looked like he backed off a bit he wouldn't of lost hardly any speed

  • it looks like he slowed down before the finish line. Wft?

  • which proves he can probaby go 9 flat, of something as fast as that :)

  • and again, asafa still got a medal at WC. think about how much of achievement that still is.

  • Gay is a better competitor. Asafa is fastest. plain and simple. times show it.

  • he got a great start. why did he finish so slowly. he could've gotten way lower probably 9.6

  • Dude we've had a really long conversation here and it led to Young. I'm a huge Asafa fan! and btw Young also has a world record :P

  • What about Young? At least Young won gold AND set the WR which has now stood for 15 years. He also won a World championship. We we're talking headcases like Asafa Powell, can't compete under pressure.
