Are all of u morons really saying the movie "Space Jam".... Where mike is transported to a looney tune cartoon universe a "DOCUMENTARY"?????? WOW... thanks for joining us all in this universe long enough to share your obvious extensive knowledge in the matter....
his brother larry was actually better than michael but he never actually went off to play basketball..... what a shame............ if only he did, then there would be 2 Jordans in the NBA. That would be crazy
@aDezenT Michael Jordan was asked in a 1999 interview who was his toughest opponent to date, Michael answered: "My brother Larry, even to this day when we play one on one, he is far better than me."
17 Universities and ball clubs tried to recruit Larry, but he had no desire to play proffesionally. He focsed on helping his parents (as the older brother on a farm) and studies. Quite a guy.
the mom worked at a bank and the dad at GE. (everyone knew this)
They owned an upper middle class brick home on Gordan rd (no farm) the house itself could be seen from the road and they had a full basketball court in their front yard...and the topper?
Larry actually did play minor league pro ball for the Chicago Express.
This man has lead a storybook life, no doubt. But it is his extreme competitiveness and willingness to work hard that turned him into the Greatest of All Time. There is a fire that burns inside of Michael Jordan that drives him to be the best no matter what. The man is a living volcano...
hmmm, i would think the highlight of his freshman year was that he made the winning shot in getting his team the CHAMPIONSHIP! not just helping them get to the final 4!
@israel570 because nobody has any business trying to re-enact the incredible things MJ did. Nobody can do MJ but MJ. Why have a movie anyway when we have all these highlights to watch. Nothing like the real thing
@israel570 -- I think what he means is a movie that stars someone else as Jordan, and it covers his life from high school, through college, to the NBA. Not an entertainment movie such as "Space Jam," and not the many CBS/Fox videos like "Come Fly With Me," etc.
I grew up in Wilmington, NC and graduated the year after MJ. I have followed his career for a long time. It's pretty cool that the best basketball player of all time is from my home town.
@MVPgoalie I didn't go to Laney HS. I went to Hoggard, so I never knew MJ personally. He graduated in 1981 and I graduated in 1982. he was pretty well known locally even before he went to UNC.
"Cheers" to the greatest player ever to play the game. Thanks for the memories Mike. Nobody does basketball like mike. He plays by heart and soul. MJ forever.
Its just hard to imagine another player having his overall impact on his sport. The influences off the court, the talent on the court. Right time, right place thats why it cant be another Jordan. Like Ali, Babe Ruth, etc.
@kaseumsouk The Houston Rockets needed a big man at center and they had one locally from the Univ. of Houston, Akeem (now Hakeem) Olajuwon. Hall of Famer.
Portland was 2nd in 1984 and drafted another big man rookie with leg and ankle issues, Sam Bowie. They are the ones messed up.
Portland's poor judgment was Chicago's great reward in the number 3 pick. We all know who that is.
@gqtexan Wow it all makes sense now. Im a younging to this NBA and began watching ball near the ending of the Jordan era. Looks like Portland has a bad history with picks in the draft. Thanks for the info about the hakeem pick
@gqtexan The reason why Portland drafted Sam Bowie was because they already had Clyde Drexler and they also needed big men upfront .Bowie was one of the top centers in the draft at the time. I think I can honestly say anyone could have made that mistake looking back. Anyone can criticize now but back then no one would've known that MJ would be the MJ people known him as.
Whoever said he was always surrounded by great players is a dummy. That would be Kobe. Jordan established a tradition in Chicago for winning while Kobe only added to an established franchise.
2216 lamester or wanna be 2216gangsta lol you are just ignorant. Anyone who doubts JOrdan as being as great as he was or the best. You are just as ignorant
He won because he was always surrounded with great players, just like at UNC with teammates like Perkins/Worthy/Black and so on then with the Bulls and players like Pippen/Rodman/Harper among others,he's way overrated and was just another hi-lite reel player that made great plays,it takes 5 players to win and he was just one of the five, get off of his nuts because he's just another ape that could jump.
@2216gangsta how did he become that famous if he was JUST 'another ape that could jump'? you wont make it that far, and his teammates didnt make it as far as jordan did

all that score'n on the old Pistons, Knicks, Boston etc teams without get'n closed line, a bow to the face or body!! U wasn't goin to score all those pts without get'n sum lumps & bumps or walk wit a lil limp to show for it!! Shit if MJ played now, it would b a walk n tha park!! I'm glad he played n the most toughest era of the nba's history(80's&90's). MJ crused n his era & he would def crush n this era!! PERIOD
Just like Joe Dumars said with the rules b n the way they r now, if MJ played, it would b impossible to watch him! & when MJ came back as a wizard @ 38, he was still give'n it to premiere players so imagine what he would of done to players if he was younger. & people b say'n mj didn't play n this era when the players were bigger stronger & faster...no, these players dont know what it's like to play n MJ's era, I would love to c players like Kevin Durant, Brandon Jennings, Kevin Martin ect do...
If MJ played now, he would average 40 easily!! Nowdays, if u beat sum 1 off the dribble, the whole team would stand there & watch u go to the basket but n MJ's era shit...u beat sum 1 off the dribble, u got 3 or 4 dudes come'n to help out!! & teams now dont try to jack u up like teams use to jack mike up...Knick, Detroit, Boston, etc. Teams went to war back then dure'n the regular season & post. Now it doens't get excite'n until the post season.
" I think not making the varsity team drove me to really work at my game, and also taught me that if you set goals and work hard to achieve them- the hard work can pay off."
Jordan might have not been recognized in high school unlike Kobe N LeBron, but that didn't stop him from being the Greatest Player 2 Ever Play Da Game it just made him that much more 2 be da best. He waz a l8t bloomer N now look @ wht he haz accomplished. MJ23

@MagicDonJuan92 I don't think he was a late bloomer. I think it was more so he didn't practice as hard at his craft until he was cut. That was the drive he needed.
@WiltatKansas Yeah Jordan may have not been the best highschool basketball player, but your compairing wilt, and Alcindor...James is understandable, but the other 2 where before mike, meaning that the game wasnt as competative as it is now, and when mike played. If Wilt was to play now, he wouldnt be as amazing as he was back then.
@PippenPower haha jordans era was like that mj was to athletic the defense back may have been more physical but when he played it was mostly single man coverage back then you couldnt sandwhich people in with double teams like today defense today is better more complex and advanced we more athletic people tooday im not saying back then it sucked but today is more complex but there different eras from wilt, jordan, and the present today so its not really up for debate
@TheKobe24mamba I heard in 'jordans era' they also used punctuation, no matter how superflous to comprehension it may appear in these more sophisticated times.
"when he played it was mostly single man coverage"
I wish U dumb ass kiddie kobe homers go educate yourselves..SMH
"[Zones] were also used [frequently] before they were [legalized] as well. One example, the 80s Celtics were known [users] of it & always got away with it. These are the same Celtics Jordan destroyed from an individual standpoint."
-- Johnathan Abrams: "Subtly, Zone Defense Helps Open Game"; NY Times, Feb 29, 2009
"you couldnt sandwhich people in with double teams like today"
What were the Cavs doing to MJ in '89 B4 he made what's now called: "the shot"?
Defense today is more complex? SMH..wow
"Our rules are [designed] to [allow] players to [penetrate] for [high percentage] shots. This has [allowed] for more high quality [perimeter] shots as well, because of how much [easier] it is to penetrate today."
-- Stu Jackson, VP of NBA Basketball Operations; "Stu Jackson Presents", NBA . com May 3, 2007

all that score'n on the old Pistons, Knicks, Boston etc teams without get'n closed line, a bow to the face or body!!

"[Zones] were also used [frequently] before they were [legalized] as well. One example, the 80s Celtics were known [users] of it & always got away with it. These are the same Celtics Jordan destroyed from an individual standpoint."
