carphius; SUPERB! It's a hard one to do on a Tele because Jimi used the vibrato bar at the end. I was lucky to see Jimi perform this song at an after hours jam (private jam). This was in the UK. He hadn't named it yet and just explained that it was a tribute to his hero, Curtis Mayfield. Curtis's trademark was this very soulful, broken chord style. You nailed it. Don't worry about the criticism that you'll get..EVEN Jimi never played the same song the same way twice.

lacadam; Thank you! There were many who 'experienced'(sorry for the pun)far greater stuff. A close friend of mine actually backed JH on drums during a jam. I think back in the 60s/70s some rock stars were far more accessible. Like John Lennon, i think Jimi loved to mingle with the public..especially amateur street musicians. Sorry to digress from "carphius"s SUPERB version of this tune.. This video has inspired me to attempt this tune again after many years.

carphius; On 'youtube' yours appears to be the closest to Jimi's in relation to sound and ,most of all, timing. Most others have the wrong tone or are too fast. Your ending is quite different to Hendrix's. (I think he used the chords A,D(B bass),C (A bass),D11th.) But your interpretation is beautiful.

carphius; The more i listen and look at your clip the more i love it. What i also like is that it's easy to follow your fingers. It's a great visual representation to learn the song from. Most of the other clips of this song, although nice, are very hard to follow (filmed distantly). I could never learn this song from the record as the timing is hard in places.(slips into 3/4 timing occasionally)

 And your speed is absolutely perfect. Thanks a million for this one.

thats the slide right? I take the 4th fret on the low E string with my thumb and do the slide while I let that note ring , the complete tab of the chord is : 4x647x , you should slide 2 frets up

@BlackNapkin39 just in case you don't know, that 22 secs in chord is a G# minor 7th. You can hit a G# bass note ..slide into an ordinary G#min 7th then add an F# which is the B string at the 7th fret. It is a superb video...

played perfectly, but for that first A just hit the A note instead of the whole A chord then to into the C#m7. This is the way hendrix does it i believe....but you could not have played it any better!! keep it up!
