I use the powdered Maca and put 2 Tblsp. in my green smoothie every morning. Since taking it I have increased energy, love cleaning my house, can;t seem to sit still, and my depressive symtoms have gone. I ran out 2 days ago and have noticed a big change. No, it doesn't do that. Maca just makes you happy, energetic, and horny. Good maca, that is. Don't use the flour, unless you bake with it. Raw maca messes with hormones & digestion in a bad way. This is why Peruvians always cook it. Use the gelatinized maca, it is much stronger, and meant specifically for use as a supplement. I use "black gelatinized" as you can see from my video. Has been my favorite type for 8 years now.

Maca is simply called "Maca." "Peruvian ginseng" is a careless marketing misnomer, as maca is a food, not a medicinal herb. In Peru it is used prolifically as a flour to make bread, porridge and fermented drinks. Only people outside of Peru treat it like an herb, and try to sell people maca flour in capsules, which is very cheap to make.
