@sousJon: I think that the point in a hotlap is to go as fast as possible, and for doing so, to maximize the performance of every part of the car. using hard tyres to set a fast lap is just dumb (in every motorsport they have special soft tyres for hotlaps). and the nitro is only used on the long main straight, to maximize the efficiency of the final gear and get to the real top speed. nothing more. so I think that this is correct.
Well first you have to set the car up properly for good handling...such as camber, ride height, spring rate and downforce... you could be bottoming out at high speed if your car is not set up properly, and the camber could be causing your tyres to not track properly.
Next you have to set up your gear ratios so that you maximise the acceleration through the gears, and you set the final drive so you're just under redlining it at the fastest part of the track. This is so you use the full gear
that's a lot of setup there. I don't know, I'm really not an expert, and I don't alter the suspension much. I only set the differential and the gearbox (and the full aero. downforce). still, I managed a 5:51 in this car with a few minor mistakes (I reckon a 5:50 would be possible). precisions: in simulation mode, with qualifying tyres and with NOS (that I only used on the long straight, like you).

The reason this looks so much faster than real life is because he's using the stickiest racing tires in the game, which give absolutely supernatural amounts of grip. The car also retains traction control and stability management which if I recall correctly, the actual car does not have (nor do most race cars). GTR2 more faithfully reproduces things, but GT5 is going to be fantastic. Not to knock GT4 of course. I enjoy it too.
Not even Stefan Bellof, the real life Northloop Recordholder with a Porsche 956 in 6.11 Min drives 320 km/H at the Schwedenkreuz. And I would really like to see a 345 km/H in reality at the lefthander at the Döttingerhöhe that leads down to Tiergarten! What a, sorry to say so, stupid rubbish. That is so far away from reality, like Jurassic Park from a normal Zoo!

I'm a little dissapointed you used the NOS on the last straight, but still an almost perfect lap. I counted 2 mistakes, first when you nearly missed that sharp left hand corner (always gets me) and the second one you were on the grass a little bit out of a right hander....I'm just picking peanuts out of poo though. Props dude.
I f'n love that track. It is the best track to really get a sense of speed. Especially in a BMW or a Mercedes. What a great addition to part 4. Kickass lap by the way.
do you know how to get your cars very top potential. go down if you dont...
right when your messing about with your car options, you knpow with the engine and that, go to transmission and click on the litle spanner and put final gear to the left as far as possible and that will give it its top speed. you can also mess about with the down force but i dont recommmend that.
light touch with the wheel, get familiar with the physics of the car, eg weight shift, point of breaking traction, and learn the track like the back of your hand.
I drive on this track with this car after work sometimes, just for the fun of driving...like going for a real drive through the country side. Nothing magic or super special, just familiarity.
Nice try...but your car NOT a BMW M3 GTR Race Version, and even worse, you were on the grass, into the barriers, all over the place. You'd be toast if that was a real F1.

also you could adjust the brake strength of the front tires to 2
a stock woodone supra jgtc can finish this on 6:18.xx, adjusting the suspension it can finish in 6:02.37

No, there is an overbonnet view, but it is taken from top of the roof, and thus is too high for a realistic feel.
Gran Turismo 5 has cockpit view. I'm not sure I like the cockpit view because it steals a lot of screen area.

right when your messing about with your car options, you knpow with the engine and that, go to transmission and click on the litle spanner and put final gear to the left as far as possible and that will give it its top speed. you can also mess about with the down force but i dont recommmend that.

Actually its km/h. You turn your final drive down too much, it would take you forever to accelerate up to speed...

yeah, that was stage 4 turbo, and NOS for the main straight.

light touch with the wheel, get familiar with the physics of the car, eg weight shift, point of breaking traction, and learn the track like the back of your hand.
I drive on this track with this car after work sometimes, just for the fun of driving...like going for a real drive through the country side. Nothing magic or super special, just familiarity.
