I'm pretty sure that the alternate timeline is their lives without having ever come in contact with Jacob. Like what their lives would have been like if Jacob never existed. That is why everyone of their lives is slightly different: Jack has a kid, Claire keeps her baby, Rose is not afraid of flying, Jack is afraid of flying, etc.
as for when Claire says "are you going to hurt them?" she is talking to Flocke and he responds" only the ones that dont listen".. If you look closely the person he is talking to has curly blondish hair.Claire. And it does make sense, he wont hurt the ones that dont resist, and she is probably talking about her other oceanic 815 friends :)

I also see it more as a 'what if' reality than the true one, but who knows.
I completely agree a fight between Kate and Claire is unavoidable. I think the two lines were strategically placed that way when the trailer was edited.
at 0:10 right after Claire says "is she gonna hurt me" you can see an image of who it seems to be Kate holding a torch in a cave.. therefore i believe this is the seen that will come before Kate being pushed over the ledge at 0:06 ;)

I just paused the lighthouse episode in the part where the names are written in the gears of the lighthouse and "Linus" and "Rodriguez" are among the last names! I guess more people were candidates than we thought.
Boone helped Locke a lot in different ways, he was there for Locke when he needed him. And then when Boone died, Locke said" He was a sacrifice to "the island" (Or to Jacob) The Island didn't need Boone anymore since Boone had helped Locke to go further. Boone was a key(candidate) to Locke's success. and Jacob didn't need Boone anymore since he had fulfilled his purpose
Good point dude and now that you mention it, I'm kind of angry that most of what they have done has been manipulated by Jacob or the smoke monster. Even on the last episode where Jack gets angry, breaks the lighthouse mirrors and Hurley talks with Jacob it looks like that's exactly what Jacob wanted,. grrrrr >:(
