  • This guy is hopeless

  • I UNDERSTAND NOW!!! I'm only a blue belt but it can't hurt to practice! ;)

  • han fot vid "koko-su-dachi" är inte rak..

  • thanks for the vid. i hav my grading tomorow! just in time! : )

  • i do not think anyone is too stupid to learn this kata. it just takes a lot of practice, practice practice.. But learning the moves of the kata is just the first step. Once you have mastered the kata forward, master it going backward. Then dissect it and find out how each move can be applied in self defence and in sparring. All good kata has many many layers of information.

  • i'm to stupid for this kata^^

  • Comment removed

  • his backstance is not in the same line and he moves his front foot when moving from stance to stance. noticabley at 0:37 there are many other errors too

  • @eightysevencents

    Ja ja ja

He is Tanaka Sensei.... and you are ....

  • @Comunidadviolinistas he is truely good and i respect his abilities. however he IS moving his front foot when going thru each stance. this is incorrect.

    From a 3rd don

  • got blue belt soon :D

  • Danke, ich hatte schon beinahe vergessen wie Heian Yondan funktioniert weil ich eine 1jährige Pause eingelegt hatte.

  • @1marymusica7 Omg! I could understand you without using google traduction and im learning german!! Thank you soooo much for this little sunny victory ^^

  • El es de SKIF ?

  • @Raybart00

Nop, JKA, He is Tanaka Sensei.

  • muito ruim a saida =p

  • great video

  • i can do this kata :)

  • @dindaoctarina1 im leaning it. i need to know him wednesday! then i need to do an exam

  • I would have got purple belt last grading but I messed up this kata.

  • I'm going for blue belt with this nice one. I love all of them, you can precise and tune your movements to perfection for a whole life.

  • im going for me blue belt too. lol

  • Good Luck for both of us :):)

  • I need to perfect this Kata! I REALLY want my purple belt!!!

  • hes teaching thats why, he wants to showpeople to learn it.

  • What organisation are you in? That's Tanaka Sensei, 8th dan. And if you just learned this kata, I firmly believe that you do not have the expertice to make a statement, versus one who has done this kata for over thirty years. Unless you have done it for thirty-one or more yourself... If you are in another style, why come with arguments over a kata which is a totaly different style?

  • well the school im in is twkc school of self defence im a 4th kyu only been in it for a year i didnt mean anything offenceive by it i was only making a suggestion and shoto-jitsu isnt totaly diffrent then shoto-kan shoto kan is one of the five styles that make up our own and shoto-kan is where we get our karate again no disrespect to you sensei i thought that you would want to be open to other styles oppions and when i wrote the comment i had just learned it ive been doin it for a month now

  • Hehe, that's okay, sorry for being a little stiff myself! Of course you are allowed to come with comments and opinions, but be careful so it does not sound like a fact, people may react to that.. (in my case, over-react). Anyways, your style sounds interesting, and since it's a self defence school, I presume it is a little more "hands on" than I am used to, am I right? And you don't have to call me sensei in here ;-) But thank you for your courtesy anyway, it makes everyones day a little nicer!

  • well im glad i could help lol yea my style is pretty hands on but yea it a mix of judo jujitsu, aikido, hapaikido, and shoto-kan karate and im also starting to learn muay tai soo yea its kinda like crack ...or that how my sensei discribes it once you start you cant stop and you want as much as you cant lol

  • shoto-jistu..............

What the heck is that.you just learned this kata? and you have an opinion already???good luck, I guess you consider your self an expert now!!

  • omfg thanks so much i fianlly found the kata right b4 my grad woot

  • the last kia he supposed to hold the move for 2 seconds before coming into the next move i agree with onbek

  • On the aspect of his foot, in kata's the preferred angle would be about 45, tho this may be outtaken by the advanced ranks. differs in flexability are a matter indeed. Then again.. i agree this guy isnt quite the specialist.

  • his backstance is a little short ...

and when he does front stance his back foot is like pointing nearly 90 degrees ...

    am i being a perfectionist?

  • that's interesting..i was always taught a 90 degree back stance..i didnt know it was performed differently.

as far as the short stances go, it is my understanding that advanced practicioners are supposed to move into shorter more natural stances..

  • no 90 degree back stance is right ... 90 degree front stance is wrong - both your feet should be pointing as far forward as possible.

  • ok ok i gotcha..yeah actually he's not pivoting much and that foot is at about 90..that makes much more sense

  • I think he missed something...

  • yeah animefangirlxx - he forgot to ask you and other "keyboard warriors" in here for opinion before he filmed this video. But he's lucky that you experts ran into this on you-tube... finally he can get some quality guidance, and learn something. What a sorry bunch of frustrated weaklings you guys are. I've been doing Heian Yondan thirty years now and I'll NEVER be able to do it this way. This performance is nothing short of AMAZING. Get a life, loosers!

  • his arms r a bit too short 4 the kata to look gd i agree his stance is a bit off

  • isn't his stance off for the knife hand block...his heels don't seem to be lined up correctly in his back stance.

  • I like that, it helps me to see clear stands to work out this Kata.

  • im doing this kata atm its quite hard but this dewd makes it look easy woop!!

  • just shito_ryu

  • just shito-ryu

  • Freekillalpha, when you say "neko-dachi" are you meaning "neko ashi dachi"(cat leg stance) or "heiko dachi"(means parallel stance). The latter is correct in all kata's in that they all start in the yoi "ready-for anything" position. Anyone at this level learn that both yoko geri keage, side-snapping kick and mae geri, front snapping kick are applied. The last move is the second of two kokutsu dachi stances (back stances) with nukite (spear-hand strike).

  • Cool

  • yes - yokogeri keage is right in style: shoto kan

  • Also neko dachi doesn't appear in any of the heian kata's in shotokan style.

  • Just in response to FreekillAlpha's comment, in shotakan we do use yokogeri keage in this kata.

  • This guy knows what how to perform this one a LOT better than the last hein yodan video I watched.

  • niko dachi,no sir i have never heard of that

  • things to point out: heian kata's start in neko-dachi,his kicks look more like yoko-geri keage and not mea-geri, and last move is a angle slide with the feet... thats about it

  • is there no sound?
