@PaintedRavensong Yup. See the new video! The swarm starts when the resident queen detects a new queen 'piping' during the last day or so before she emerges. So the old queen leaves to find a new home.
Those queen cells I found must have been much younger than the one that triggered the swarm. Makes sense if that frame had only been in there for a week, which is what I believe.
Well, there are lots of shoulds in life. With a 6-inch tripod and filming alone, I didn't really consider camera position very much. Thanks for taking an interest.
So when you find those queen cells does that mean that part of the hive would take off with her (swarm) once she was ready to leave?
