Take Justin Bieber, people use him as an example for music going downhill, but he's only this generation's Backstreet Boy. young girls and boys will always enjoy that kind of music, because it's catchy and fun for them to listen to and sing. Hence it makes tons of money, and therefore more music like it gets produced.

@Gozleone B/c record companies control what radio stations play. The FCC passed regs in the 50's to keep companies from bribing dj's by saying that only station managers could choose the playlists. Now they just bribe the managers instead of dj's. Why should they play bands like the Dresden Dolls when they can get expensive shoes, bling, etc, to play the latest crap by Perry or Gaga or whoever. None of my local stations even have request lines anymore; too many people kept asking for good music.
