@UZC527 In the first episodes of CSI Miami horation use a Berretta Cougar 8000,I think right up to season 5,then from then to now season eight and 9 he uses a Sig P226.Its A really nice gun,then 226 is better because the cougar has too much recoil but the cougar is more compact to run and move with.however your best bet is the 226 which am going to buy next year or both.

Actually, there are several places in which crime scene investigators are not required to wear a ballistic vest, it's optional. Miami may just be one of those places, since the heat would make ballistic vests a pain in the ass. True, it may save your life from time to time, but since real cops don't see as much action as movie/tv cops do, 80% of the time, the vest will just be a pain in the ass in 90+degree weather. Especially for CSI. Heat=sweat, which can contaminate evidence.

In "head to head combat" they do wear ballistic vests in this show(most of the time). But only when they KNOW the suspects they're going after are armed and will shoot them on sight. Otherwise, they ARE investigating, in one way or another, when a firefight breaks out.

When they're heading to the hangout of a gang that's not too "cop friendly", then you'll see the vests. But more often than not, they're just asking questions or looking for evidence when someone pulls a weapon on them.
