Calling all Wagner lovers… Hear Rene Papé, Gary Lehman and Violeta Urmana in a new recording of Wagner’s Parsifal with Valery Gergiev and the Mariinsky. Find out more on our channel ( mariinskylabel ) and go to the Mariinsky label website to hear some soundclips ( search for Mariinsky label )
@abyssimus The tempi got slower and slower and more ponderous directly after Wagner's death...... Cosima and her gang are to blame for Bayreuth bad habits. Then along came Winifred and Hitler......
@zoroaster81 Seems that Barenboim's tempi are good and not too fast. Been to Bayreuth for years....remember the KNA performances, and HIS conducting was slow, but magical.
This is my death music. I am 57 and encountered Wagner's music at age 16. His music has gone beyond my love for my Jewish friends. I don't know why. I suspect Wagner has found the 'Lost Chord' and we are helpless!
@jobe413007 Soon his music will impregnate in you a burning hate towards those Juden that you now call "Friends", Are they really your friends? Me, you AND Wagner know that they would betray you for pocket change if you were to even turn your back towards them! THE JUDEN ONLY HAVE ONE LOVE! One god! That is Mammon! Avarice! Greed!
@ssballs All of you! Heed me! Keep listening to Wagner! Breath him! Live Him! Feel his message in your hearts! There is one motive to all Wagner has created! It is purity! Cast down the Juden and his virtues! JEWS DID 911!! This is Wagners Credo!
cuando se representaran estas obras con la escenografia q fueron ideadas????ideo wagner esto para ser cantado frente a un proyector con los cascos de un caballo galopando???
Beautifully staged! The sets, the blocking, the costuming, everything.
This scene, when I saw it several years ago at the SF Opera, with Donald Runnicles and Kurt Moll, reduced me to a teary eyed mess. It was my second opera and my first Wagner performance. I've been an avid Wagnerian ever since.
Bring on the darkness! BRING IT! With bells, with bells... amazing.
Very beautiful. And one can hear how much Barenboïm is a great wagnerian (he was invited in Bayreuth each year from 1981 to 1999 - a historic record).
It's Harry Kupfer's Berlin production from 1992, stage by Hans Schavernoch, with John Tomlinson as Gurnemanz. If you can, go to see the actual Parsifal production in Zurich (Switzerland) under Bernard Haitink, it's fantastic and much better than this!
I saw Barnard Haitink conduct Parsifal in December '07 at Covent Garden, with Chris Ventris as Parsifal. Chris also played Parsifal in the 2004 Kent Nagano version which is also on Youtube, absolutely excellent. I cracked up completely more than once!
Magic, real HIGH ART

Questa è musica straordinaria, proviene da un mondo extraterrestre, non è scritta da un uomo, è scritta da un Dio. Per me è il massimo.

Typical Barenboim: he conducts too fast!
zoroaster81 2 years ago
Wagner actually complained that people would conduct his music too slow.

So right!! Listen to the III act-Prelude conducted by Pierre Boulez.! It is a relevation !!!! Though it is not just a question of tempo ...
