  • cool, thanks! if kids can make this, so can i! :)

  • what camera did you use?

  • I bought a Cam Caddie at the suggestion of another youtuber and I must say it's the best DIY independent camera stabilizer I've used or seen thus far.

  • just go to jstellarpictures(DOT) Com and buy one for real cheap. Worked for me perfectly !

  • @JStellarPictures wow i actually saw it, im buying the pro version right now! :D

  • Just buy a Sony CX560 or CX700 and you won't need this. The camera is amazing and needs no steadying device.

  • can you sell me yours

  • I've been using Cam Caddie definitley not a fake like this video seems to be. $38 and all my shots are drastically better in all dynamics of video taking. I suggest to any one in need of a steadycam asap.

  • seems fake. how come you have no up and down movements of your hand running down the stairs and on the street... The weights will prevent some movement, sure, but your video has absolutely none which makes this fake, dude. Please explain or don't post bs. You have no ball joints to prevent those very things from happening. I've also tried attaching weights to the bottom of the tripod and some unintended hand movement still remained.

  • f ing awesome, kid....

  • How do you hold it?

  • how did you make the base plate? cheers

  • fo a build video and you will have 1 million views in a day

  • Nice footage and background music.

  • Is that Georgia? It looks like it.

  • careful running with flip flops, i ripped my toenail off and massacred what was beneath just a month ago, thats not fun.

  • beautifull!!!

  • what is the soundtrack you used in this vid?

  • @chichiri03 porcelein - Moby :))

  • This vid made me smile :) Thanks for posting. I'm trying to build my own stabilizer as well..

  • do u live in south carolina?

  • wow i want to live there. really nice place. by the way cam filming looks amazing

  • He looks like a Ben....... Bahahaha! Beautiful steadicam though!

  • The only thing I need stabilizer for is when I walk, run, or ride a bike...and want to prevent jumping up and down.

Does this stabilizer provide this ? I think not because you can move camera with your hand up and down - so it wan't prevent when you hole body (with hand) will go up and down when you walking.

    Am I wrong ?

And if you don't have this up/down bouncing it's because you've trained you hand to be in one place while you're running - not because you use stabilizer ?

  • awesome.. i just made mine and im learning how to walk with it without bumping into it..... how much weight did u use?

  • nice cam! and great music too!

  • nice looks great

    thanks man

  • wow this is impressive. How do you break the up and down mouvement/shaking?

  • how did u run and film sideways w/out shaking? i find that hard to believe w/ an 8$ stabilizer..props

  • hi! great video! great job!

i think im starting to become your fan haha

but, just one thing....i cant see the tutorial..why?!

    greetings from mexico!

i hope you answer me soon...sorry for the bad writting...im not that good with english

  • Great!

  • ok wait hold it the other video with Ben says PVC polyvinyl chloride

  • love the tunes in this ok and you 2 also lol great job guys

  • your scooter skate skills are sweet dude, and sweet cell phone too

  • motherfucker -.-

  • ok i found it, it took me a lil while but i found it ok i see what you are talking about

  • i am making my steadicam using your advices because your 2 vidéos really convinced me !! i made a short try this morning but the result is a little bit shaky..

i have to go out side and try again... could you just tell me how many kilogramms i should use ? (my cam is a sony HDR HC9) thx in advance !!

  • Youre about the 5th DIY steadicam video i've watched. and its more than just people walking around in the grass. i appreciate this video. good stuff.

  • I just bought the sima slb-m video bracket so I hope that will work as well as this! =]

  • impressive result!! maybe I can still use my digital cam.-Fuji f10

  • @Ubookz I have been looking at gimbal designs but this seems to work very well without the gimbal type handle!!. perhaps it is because of ample counterweight preventing movement.

  • if you pause at 1:59 it lookslike he go no leg

  • did you duct tape rocks on for the counterweight? Lol... this is really awesome footage, guys. Well done.

  • Forgot to add, perfect music.

  • Nicely Done Captain.

I guess I had the right idea using a mono pod, but I missing some of the dynamics w/dual weights.

  • You live in a beautiful neighbourhood

  • @TeTRoSeX Shit cars though, must be poor.

  • Btw, can you make another video, and make someone else film you while you're using the steadycam with your camera on? ... And maybe make a tutorial on how you made yours? : )

  • What camera are you filming with? : )

  • This is such great footage. Very nice indeed! 5/5 from me.

Looking at the finished project, I noticed a couple mods from Ben's design:

    1) The extension below the T connector is longer. Maybe a hand width?

    2) The metal pipes look fairly long. I also imagine the weight of them over that length helps a lot.

    A) How long is each metal pipe?

    B) What is the diameter of the metal pipes? 1" or 3/4"

I built mine today but need to tune it. I am not getting even close to the results you achieved

  • I think this is cool but how much of this is due to the OIS? I would like to see the results of this setup with out OIS turned on.

  • usually if you use OIS with any kind of tripod or other stabalizer you can get more image movement than without it engaged.

From this video I think it's safe to assume that any OIS feature is turned off.

  • you should put an annotation in the video linking to our tutorial ;)

  • I believe it. It is not hard to make cheap stabilizers.

    What camera do you use?

  • Unless you show me the video, I find it hard to believe that this is 8 bucks.

  • All it consists of are a couple small pieces of pvc, a couple connectors, a floor flange, and some counterweights.

  • @WellstonePictures May you please provide a video showing what this steadicam looks like? If you don't, no one will believe you. I certainly don't. This footage is wayyyyy too smooth for only 8 dollars.

  • well your a fastisio!

  • @denmar411 Its from Ben1257sb

  • @denmar411 On the tutorial they show takes on snow were you can actually see the stabilicer's shadow.

  • what did you use for the counterweights. Please respond

  • weights i think...

  • well the weights we used for ours (which is also bens) were a couple of bike pegs....go look at the tutorial for more info!

  • really super make a tutorial on how to make it. really a good job

  • perfect

  • pleaseeeeee make tutorial

  • Nice job guys thats a really good product! Give a tutorial on how to make it...Please you would help me so much. nice neighborhood

  • Great, but I'd love to see it (How you handle it) if you have a digital camera you can take video with it too. So problem solved.

And also, a before and after shots would be great.

Congrats on the creativity, and for the beautiful place you live at.

  • "I only have one camera so I couldn't film myself holding it"

Do you have a mirror? :-)

  • That neighborhood is freaking beautiful. What city do u live in? Im moving there XD

  • is bryan a fucking retard? wtf is he doing

  • Can you unscrew the two parts where the metal meets the PVC? Otherwise, nice job, it works good

  • PLEASE POST A TUTORIAL ON HOW TO MAKE THIS!!!!! please.

  • These DIY steadicam's are great (I even use one myself) HOWEVER. The professional equipment makes the camera GLIDE and FLY through a scene while this just removes handheld shake. You cannot get anything more from a DIY steadicam system...

  • Yes but they are good alternatives for those who cannot afford the pro.

  • oh don't get me wrong, but i was just saying those "pro" systems cost a ton of cash for a reason.

  • We don't have anything to compare it to, you should put before and after scenes. (It looked awesome though!)

  • good going dude. Nice work . the merlin is $900. Think about all the people buying that thing and spending $900 on $10 worth of metal. Can you say Cha Ching.. for Merlin. Now you see your money, now you dont!

  • What's the point in stating that it is a home made steadycam if you don't show it? It could be a Merlin or anything (a Hollywood film crew) . . .

  • watch the whole video you thick fuck

  • u fucking qumqot i like what exsolvedh3 said thick fuck but they both describe u :D

  • nice houses!!

  • most uggggggggggly but very useful

  • Thats awesome dude, i got one myself, works great

  • thats sick!!! tutorial please?

  • Build Your Own Tripod Camera Stabilizer For

  • Build Your Own Tripod Camera Stabilizer For Free Video out on Youtube Check This Video

  • maybe since that ben dude's account got hacked you could create a tutorial?

  • Oh btw concerning the video, I almost can't believe that you were running full speed rather than being on a car :)

Now Im wondering what if I have a 35mm adapter and a rail system ?

  • Fortunately, I built Ben's steadicam a few months ago, but I just can't find proper weights to attach on!! What do you suggest?

Also, I'm wondering if it would work to cut and attach the PVC pipes into the Merlin Steadicam layout? Just search 'Steadicam Merlin' in Google Images to see what I mean.

I might give it a try because it takes less space and is ideal for ground shots

  • I just have a flexible mini tripod that I mount onto my scooter/bike while filming.

  • Not bad, man. I'm trying to find my own solution as to what I can use, and how I can build a steadicam. But my solution at the time being is using a fig rig or even tripod, in motion.

    Not bad.

  • these are nice but still cannot compete with the steadicam merlin because if you notice there still are dips and such in the video :-) but still pretty good.

  • you are one of those who comment nonsense, is not about competing, is about improving one's video a little, and saving some money,it was great.

you are one of those who bitches cause the cinemode on the xl2 doesn't look like film, before you comment, show your work.

  • it can't compete?

Hell if it can... considering it costs less than a fraction of the price!!!

  • are you running?

  • Part of it is running and part of it is riding a bike, it is labeled in the video/annotations.

  • I wanna see the tutorial video! It's not working!

  • Nice and steady but keeping the framing right seems a problem.

  • the video on the stabilizer tutorial has been removed.. any suggestions on where to find another description?

  • wow thats amazing, and only for $8?! what camera are you using and how much does it weigh?

  • this is great stuff, right here.

  • this is amazing stuff. Make it of steal and you can sell them online.

  • how did u make your stabilizer?

  • chek the original

  • Man, how old are you? This is the best amateur footage of a stabilized camera I´ve ever seen. I think you are a very talented and gifted steadicam operator. Much better than alot of big guns around the internet!

  • i swear i'd think your on a bike!!!

  • good job

  • Cr*p sry for the double post... forgot to ask : what did you use for the stabilizer's weight ?

  • 1. Picture is at the end of the video. It is almost exactly like Ben's.

    2. I used wrist weight sort of things and duct taped them all over so they wouldn't move.

    Anything heavy would work though.

  • btw can you post a pic of your stabilizer ? Is it similar to Ben's one ?

  • Good video, I built a very similar one for my XH-A1 and I'm going to be posting a video up here shortly, all credits to you guys of course. I was quite a bit apprehensive about slapping my camera on top of the unit, since it's so expensive, but it works pretty well.

  • Yeah, your camera is much nicer than mine, and mine is very small and lightweight. (Panasonic PV-GS320)

Hopefully I'll be able to buy a better one like yours soon!

  • I still have those big cassette sony recorder... :P.. hopefully I would like an HD camcorder next purchase...

    But that XH-A1... what the hell : 4000 $ !!

god.. I'll spend five bucks on that stabilizer first I think..

  • Great job . JV

  • Just amazing and I would bet it did not cost $75000.... However holding it on a Bike seems like somewhat dangerous for old guys like me! great work!

  • nice video :)

  • sweet! what camera did u film that with?

  • Panasonic PV-GS320.

  • Are they good?

  • It has great quality (3ccd) for its price, but unfortunately it has limited features.

No mic or headphone jack, but still, for its price you can't beat it.

  • Nice ;) Thanks.

  • wow thats pretty impressive :) great job guys!

  • Cool music and sweet results! I've made a couple of cheap steadycams and have been disappointed so far! I'll give this one a try.

One question: did you turn the camera's motion control on or off? I use a sony hdr sr1(dreaded AVCHD format) and often find the supersteady works against me - particularly when panning.

  • Thanks!

I didn't mess with any of the settings at all, but my camera does have OIS (optical image stabilization) But my camera isn't the greatest (Panasonic PV-GS320), and I don't think it even has a "motion control" setting.

  • what weights did you use?

  • great video. i am blown out of the water on this vid. i can't believe how great results you got using this. thanks for the citing your sources. great great great vid like i can't even say how blown out of the water i am right now.

  • Yea I was amazed myself... I was sprinting at full speed for almost all of those clips, and we tried riding a bike and using the steadicam and it turned out incredible.

But all of those clips were on the first take, we didn't cut out any of the bad parts, which makes it even more amazing.

  • i know. defenitly beats my design. you can get some great shots for walking scenes, running or simply anything for that matter. nice job

  • Along with that you can also use after effects to smoothen it out even more.

  • you guys are awesome

  • Awesome :P that guy with the glasses is funny as always.

  • That awesome, I'm definitely going to make one.

  • how did you do the bike part

  • The steadicam only requires one hand, so I rode the bike with one hand and held the stabilizer in the other.

  • impressive

  • great results!

  • omg thats so high quality and rocks! nice video

  • lmao i luv the look on his face he is like so happy. lol id laugh if he hit that casr at 45 sec. nice vid =D
