  • Fuck, the sound quality is perfect. This is my all time favorite song and album from them.

  • I love the atmosphere ISIS' songs create. Sicc song

  • Some of Isis' stuff off the Red Sea is sludgy; this song is not at all sludgy. Mastodon are not sludgy at all and never have been. Sludge=eyehategod, Graves at Sea, Indian, Iron Monkey, buzzov*en and some Melvins, etc. Tool came to influence Isis - for the worse, because this was also when Tool was in decline - after Panopticon. Isis are pretty straightforward about their influences in the liner notes to Red Sea.

  • this is the last band that needs to categorized into a genre. shush.

  • Our skin worn thin

    Our bones exposed

    Life reduced to ticks

From forest caves and azure skies

    We crashed upon this earth

The years they passed and so did we

    But resistance would be brought

  • I believe in a beautiful world beyond, somewhere far away. Music like this takes me there.

  • ISIS \m/

  • Yep, well put. I wouldn't even call early mastadon all that sludgy. They definitely had some moments but I'd say isis has a much much higher sludge content.

  • The ending of this song must be what is heard when jumping out off a plane

  • @whit3emporer

    Lol, this is not sludge.

    Early Mastodon is sludge.

  • @Transcedant This is still sludge, but very atmospheric with lots of post-rock influence. Isis basically took what Neurosis was doing, and although they're less experimental than Neurosis, they took the whole proggy sludge formula in a new direction by incorporating post-rock.

  • @SpermWhales93

They're not very different. Very different is soft rock compared to post-metal. Prog metal and this have similarities.

  • @Digideus

Read a book sometime. It helps in the learning process.

  • Isis should've done a show underwater.

  • April - discovered Panopticon

    May - shocked by Celestial

    June - amazed by Oceanic

November - surprised by In The Absence Of Truth

December - touched by Wavering Radiant

2011 was an important year in my life.

  • So Did We!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I remember listening to this song walking from my home at school. Seven years have passed but i whenever i listen to this it always feels like the first time. Isis thanx for the memories!!!!!

  • ISIS is Tool but not millionaires only it for money

  • @dudefromgermany If Tool are only in it for the money it certainly doesn't show in their music

  • @destroysubgenres yeah that's one of the most retarded things I've ever heard. Tool goes out of their way to be true to themselves and not give a shit what people think about their music... dudefromgermany doesn't know what the hell he's talking about.

  • @dudefromgermany At least learn how to speak English before you write some stupid bullshit on youtube, idiot.

  • @dudefromgermany is correct. Tool used to be in it for the music, now they just suck corporate cock. seeing Maynard drinking from a starbucks mug was a real shock to a lot of people who actually know him and his opinions on commercialism. As for the music, their last great album was Aenema. Isis are far better tho

  • So, 240p, we mee- ...it lies.

  • I haven't heard this song in YEARS but the second it started the memories instantly flooded in....

  • Probably my most favorite song for relaxation. I really think this is their best work.

  • @shitfacedwaffle I agree with you bro!

  • song for dreams....

  • This song makes me happy.

  • 4letter band names rule....

im tryin to fing 1 for my band everything is taken already ... :(

or at least it i cant figure out anything till now ... :p

tool and isis .. ? why compare them ... why not go to isis and tell em that you compare em with tool... you probly leave bruised ! :p

  • @Tr0m0sainT why? they are all friends..

  • This is so relaxing.

  • 3oh!3 are better

  • @sandell321 Fail Troll.

  • So Did We, Syndic Calls, Threshold of Transformation: best Isis crescendos

  • The build up and climax molests your face \m/

  • @88Anesthetize It molests my goosebumps

  • I am so proud of my Language arts paper. Brings back memories of when I was writing a paper listening to the exact same song :,) Now I finished the paper in record time, only three replays of this song!

  • I love walking at night listening to Isis. Going down to the peer and staring into the darkness contemplating things

  • 240p? Bullshit, YouTube is lying. This sounds amazing.

  • @CyValkarion 240p is video quality, not audio quality.

  • The first Time I ever heard of ISIS was when i saw them On tour with Tool In bakersfield ca september 2006,I havent been the same since...

  • this is isis. it is.

  • One of the most beautiful songs ever written.

  • Awesome, awesome music. Oh, and I love Tool, Opeth and Isis since I love good music, but they don't sound like each other... :S

  • This = real music.

  • Just to jump in in this whole Tool/Isis argument. Yes, Tool did influence Isis, just as Neurosis did. Doesn't mean they are a like. These bands started something different, Isis took it in their own direction and laid out the groundwork for something truly special and unique.

Anywho, love this album. Panopticon is my personal favorite Isis album. It never fails to amaze me, truly an inspiring album that made me think 'I want in on this' and just wanted to create beautiful music like this.

  • I've only compared Isis to Opeth, because of the way their songs are put together..both are known for long, beautiful, melodic sounds, but they are just as heavy. This song especially, hits me so hard with different emotions, all at once. Just the way the lyrics flow, the message, the gorgeous and unique way he sings..it's incredible.

  • Now I do love Tool as much as the next guy, but Tool had little to no influence on the making of Isis. They drew most of there style from Neurosis & Godflesh... So even without the Tool we know and love Isis would still be rockin along!

  • I remember the first time I heard Panopticon... So Did We first up. As soon as the song started I got blown back into my chair. What a ride. As soon as it ended I put that baby on replay. It wasn't until the next day that I got to Backlit.

ISIS takes awhile to absorb, but every time you play each song you love it even more. I wish I got to see them live before they broke up. I also wish I knew about them sooner. Great band, amazing music.

  • @eAddiction I know exactly what you mean. That song, and this record as a whole, are just fucking massive. Panopticon just overwhelms you in every sense.

  • Why are you guys comparing Isis and Tool? Tool is progressive metal, Isis is post-metal, they're both very different genres.

  • @Spermwhales93 that may be true but isis opened up for tool when i say them in 07/08

  • The only thing Isis and Tool share musically is the tendency towards unconventional song structure. Both are amazing bands, neither has ripped the other off. Stop comparing them, you look like twats.

  • @davethehostage

    i concur

  • @ShroomSamich I concur with your concurrence

  • @davethehostage no you forgot something!!!, Both band names are 4 letters long ;)

  • @davethehostage Or.... Talk about what ever you want to talk about, share opinions, and keep in mind they are opinions and that they will differ from one person to the next. We can still be civil and differing opinions, just keep an ope mind and we can learn so much from each other. Thank you Sicc ass song BTW

  • For all the tool haters: If tool hadn't of existed, isis probably wouldn't have existed either...just so you know

  • @slowblood99 Nope. If Godflesh and Neurosis hadn't existed, Isis would not have existed.

  • @slowblood99 lol

  • @slowblood99 Fuck yeah 100% behind you bro. Tool is badass and Isis is badass

  • Comment removed

  • I definitely hear some Opeth in this song. Like a lot.

  • @corruptingyouth It has Windowpane written all over it.

  • I like this song description :)

  • IIIIIIIISIIIIISSSSS MOTHERF*!@R@!#KERS ISIS IS LIFE PANOPTICON IS LIFE

  • probably one of my favorite songs of all time

  • haha the vocals are mixed in such a way that it sounds like he is screaming in a storm

  • yo mikelamb24 relax. Isis is not a "metal" band but it's not hard to tell they have some elements of metal mixed with ambiance so it's hard to put a label on it. Before you come on here with you a7x bull shit think about what you say before you say it. avenged sevenfold is generic radio friendly "hard rock" and m shadows is a terrible vocalist. Isis is not about the vocals, it's about feeling the music and getting lost in it and it takes talent to do that so take a step back.

  • @MikeLamb24 sweet,, you do that .... please

  • @MikeLamb24 You do realize that no one gives a fuck about your opinion on the internet right? Oh and you can stop being such an obvious troll, faggot.

  • I agree you can’t get more metal that AX7 LMAO

ISIS is amazing and there not mainstream which is an added bonus.

    love all there albums

  • @MikeLamb24 Hahaha, go cry about the Rev or something. Come back when you've educated your musical knowledge with something greater than A7X.

  • @MikeLamb24 hey i listen to a7x a lot but only when they started... im talkin about sounding the 7th trumpet... in that time they were good after that they were complete sellouts cuz they had somthin good at first but they threw it out of the window to make more cash wich is why i dnt have respect for these guys... and thats why its not hard to realize that isis is FARRRRRR superior cuz they do somthin original and dnt give a shit about unsupported opinions like urs

  • @MikeLamb24 A7X aren't considered as "real Metal", they are Metalcore, a genre founded way after this (Post-Metal), this is more Metal than A7X in comparison to an iron bar and my dog.

  • @iSAUSAGE a7x were only metalcore on their first 2 albums.

  • @alexmonro83 In my opinion, a band is whatever genre they first play, no matter how many style changes - though I do obviously acknowledge what genre they are currently playing.

  • @iSAUSAGE I guess but according to that logic the beasties boys are still an old school hardcore band

  • @alexmonro83 Then they are still an old school hardcore band. :P

  • @MikeLamb24 oldschool tool blows anything outta the water, undertow/qpiate is the shit

  • @stinkfist93420 Tool is for fucking tools.

  • @MikeLamb24 ...and you do realize that Justin Chancellor played bass on this album. Look him up.

  • @MikeLamb24 man you sense of humor is so great! bash on everything to piss people of. i get it now hahahahaha you should be a comedian

  • @MikeLamb24 no appreciation for subtlety or compexity, please expand your mind at least a little, there is more out there than Avenged Sevenfold, as much as I used to like them.

  • @musicman9901 Dude Isis only writes bathroom songs. This whole album is a bathroom album. Sounds like he was taking a shit while writing this poser music.

  • @MikeLamb24 well I you have nickleback and dragonforce on your favourites, so I guess you really must know good music. My appologies for assuming Isis was too "creative" for you. lol

  • @MikeLamb24 Panopticon is one of the most amazing albums to have ever graced my ears.

  • @MikeLamb24 Real metal *cough*

  • Woooooooooow

  • Panopticon, best album ever...

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!! Satan if you r reading this, I WILL GIVE YOU MY SOUL if you bring them back for more awsome albums, MY SOUL...meaby my sissy neighbor's too, god i hate that brat...

  • @Lopez1988chile ur asking the wrong person

  • Saw Isis at the Clubhouse in Tempe on their last tour. Even with a shitty sound system and an idiot sound tech was still incredible. It really is too bad that they broke up, but they did what they came to do: Put consciousness altering music into the collect mind of humanity. Never was anything like them, and probably never will be again (since they'd get killed for being the ultimate posers).

  • wow this song is simply amazing so desolate and beautiful

  • Comment removed

  • RIP???? FUCK NO MAN! Comeback please!

  • 6:14 changed my fucking life.

  • So sad they broke up, they made such a wonderful music.

    R.I.P. Isis

  • Thanks god. inever comment music videos. i dunno if theres sth more to life. idont think so. read jed mckenna spiritual enlightenment if you rly want to know. its all bullshit, i wish it wasnt but it is.

I dunno why im even writing this. i love isis. seriously i was listening first to oceanic for a lot of time when i was younger...first the sounds scared me, the screaming was so hard, i couldnt stand it and i was kinda embarassed listening to it, but i knew there was more to it.

  • when i read the fountainhead by ain read i listened throughout the whole book isis in spain in my vacations....the end of the book and all the music made me cry....

I still love it it has sth real in it like you wish truth would jump out of the music and change everything.

and then you put off the headphones ;/

  • 13/16 has met its maker in this song.

  • 4:00 onwards pushes me far beyond sadness... I've never experienced this kind of emotional depression before. Never EVER. Makes me think about life, in a way, makes me wish I was callous enough to end it. Rambling aside... one of the best songs I have heard.

  • one of the best post rock band i discovered recently

Search "So above so below - Remembrance of things past"

    beautiful song :)

  • @The19dreams You should check out the band ATOMIS as well! I saw them live a few months back. It was an amazing show! They are a newer band from Canada and they state Isis as a big influence. They have a promotional free download here: atomis. bandcamp. com

  • @Illusorysenses Checked it out....they sound really great! i can definitely hear the Isis influence, any band that uses Isis as an influence is worth a listen...many thanks for the link!

  • @The19dreams Agreed! I just wish I got to see Isis before they broke up. I actually went to see Tool when Isis opened up for them, but due to problems with security almost everyone missed out on seeing them that particular show.

  • @The19dreams this is sludge,not post-rock

  • Comment removed

  • @whit3emperor yes u are right sir

  • @whit3emperor Meh. I'd call it post-metal. Arguing about genres is kinda silly though.

  • @KVHelwig1337 in general,it's awesome music

  • @whit3emperor Completely agreed. No matter what you call it, it's awesome.

  • How does this compare with Oceanic? I need to decide on my purchase of Isis. They are the only other band to captivate me with their musicianship and vision near as much as Rosetta.

  • @MyEggIsBoiled Oceanic and Panopticon are the top of the mountain for ISIS. Either one will give you a great experience. I personally started with Oceanic and listened to it for 9 months before I even touched another ISIS album. Same went for this album though. Oceanic is a little rougher around the edges, has a lot more screaming whereas Panopticon is vastly instrumental and just a tad bit lighter if you ask me.

  • @chill4lyfe Seems like they both have a lot to offer. But from the small snippets I've experienced Panopticon seems like it'd hold onto me just that tiny bit more. Thank you :)

  • @MyEggIsBoiled Enjoy yourself brother. Hard to find many albums of this magnitude.

  • @MyEggIsBoiled I think Oceanic is their magnum opus, but seriously, every Isis record offers something different and special for the listener. I think theyre all essential, but for newbies Oceanic is a great place to start.

  • It would be cool if Cookie Monster wasn't doing the vocals.

  • don't do drugs give hugs

  • good shit man, i listen to this while study

  • in my stupid little reality,

panopticon is the greatest thing they ever did. resonates with my being.

  • 3:45 to 3:52 .. no words can describe

  • Beautiful

  • absolutely amazing track :)

  • I wouldn't recommend drugs unless you do have a high self-esteem... or are at least in a good place in life for a better and more insightful experience. Thanks for the tune... Blessings!

  • I wouldn't recommend drugs unless you do have a high self-esteem... or are at least in a good place in life for a better and more insightful experience.

  • Isis is life changing! Please check out my original inspired by Isis style music, called Spectator practice! It's only a preview to my demo, but the whole song is yet to come out

  • Comment removed

  • Simply astonishing! Beautiful!

  • Post-Metal.... Prog..... Sex......

  • If Mastodon and Mogwai got it on, Isis would pop out.

  • Adoro!!!!

  • drugz rule

  • FUCK PEOPLE WITH LOW SELF-ESTEEM WHO NEED DRUGS!! FUCK THAT PEOPLE! ISIS IS ART AND YOU DON'T NEED STUPID DRUGS TO FEELING IT.

  • @ANTHMX feeling that nobody understand you? Are you ready to unleash the FUKING FURY?!?!?! USE CAPS LOCK RAGEE!!!!!!!!

  • @Tobiasz123 - WHAT'S WRONG WITH CAPS? LOL C'MON GROW UP LADY!! BUT YEAH "FUCK DRUGS" THAT WAS MY MESSAGE:)

  • @ANTHMX lol doing drugs have nothing to do with self esteem. obviously you have no idea what youre talking about, so you might as well shut the fuck up.

  • @thychaos Are you serious about this "doing drugs have nothing to do with self esteem "? you're kinda funny dude, better go to study about psychology. LOVE YOUR IGNORANCE

  • @ANTHMX that might be the case with fags with no self esteem, but i personally do it out of boredom and the lack of anything to do. i do it for the same reason someone might go to the carnival. fun. weed is by no means dangerous. i love your ignorance, retard. im willing to bet youve never done a drug in your life, then you try to act like you know what youre talking about. lol the propaganda really got to you, man. "drugs are bad! yeah, dont do drugs!" dumbass.

  • even though i hate this kind of music this song is ok

  • @giggity5313 What do you mean by "this kind of music"?

  • @ChunkyPirate i jus dont like this kind of music but props to these guys they did a good song

  • @giggity5313 But what do you mean when you say this kind of music? Just curious, I'm not calling you out or anything.

  • Listening to Isis with headphones on, volume all the way up. It makes life more complete, even more real...

  • @cvela20032003 and even more deaf

  • @mthom828 yes, but does being deaf make life any less full? lol

  • @cvela20032003 YOU SIR ARE RETARDED, ENJOY HEARING LOSS

  • @roddy123451 Wow, you are a jackass. You make yourself seem retarded by having all your letters capitalized. Enjoy trying to make yourself seem more important.

  • @cvela20032003

Well in my opinion, life is a little less important without being able to hear music.

I would have killed myself because silence makes me insane lmfao. I wouldn't be able to live with myself.

But for those who were born def, they don't know what they're missing.

Those who were born with hearing know what music really is.

Having that taken away would be almost unbearable. I couldn't imagine a world without music.

  • Take acid. It's better.

  • I listened to this song when I was high...what an experience. I was practically moved to tears by how epicly melancholy it all is. plus I heard an insane keyboard solo in my head towards the end :) smoke weed kids

  • Could never get into this band. I just doesn't grab me like Neurosis does

  • @bobokk

give it time.. isis never did for me at first, then after awhile i started noticing different parts things , then they basically blew everything else i have ever listened to outta the water, they truly are something else...

  • @ShroomSamich exactly the same for me... the slowest growing band I've ever experienced. But when it does grow on you, oh boy...

  • @ShroomSamich Believe me, I've given it time. I bought this album and Celestial, listened to them many times but it just doesn't hold my interest for long enough. Maybe if I took drugs I'd like them..

  • @bobokk

what has it got to do with drugs? i dont understand... ive only smoked pot before and its not my thing but from that experience, this makes me feel like im baked xD

my user name has nothing to do with a hallucinogenic mushroom if that's what you are implying..

  • @ShroomSamich No I wasn't implying that. Just that some music sounds better when you're on drugs

  • I FUCKING LOVE ISIS!!!! first saw them open up for tool a couple of years ago and I was instantly hooked. AMAZING band

  • Comment removed

  • Deep as fuck

  • Why the fuck do this bands never get the appreciation/recognition that they deserve?

    These musicians are geniuses.
