Dave Eggers is a writer for Salon.com. after reading the book i was shocked that this had never made it to mainstream news, because there were many people picked up and treated like criminals during a disaster.

Dave Eggers is a respected journalist who documents the experiences of an Arab immigrant getting picked up with a few of his non-arab neighbors in the week of the disaster. the book is called Zeitoun by Dave Eggers you can even pick a copy up from the library, it was published in 2009. I was shocked to read this man's story. why would washington authorize this is beyond me.
@Yemilady you can even look up the guy his name is Abdurahman Zeitoun was a well established business owner and property owner in Louisiana and was arrested on his property. I remember watching videos of interviews with Zeitoun on youtube. At first i thought they picked him up because he was middle eastern, but he's Syrian and can pretty much pass for a white guy, but was surprised when his neighbors were arrested and detained. They were kept at first in cages in the sun. really disheartening...
@Yemilady Having never heard of him, I googled & found the case file. He was charged with looting, possession of stolen goods & arrested for failing to evacuate. 'Some' of the charges were dropped. No where did I see he was "locked in a cage or put in a fema camp" As a matter of fact it states he 'suffered from a splinter in his hand' .. I found it under Case Law Full Display. What this had to do with Fema camps is beyond me. If you find proof that he was "locked in a cage" I'd love to see it.

This is a run down base with nothing going on, i was out there 6 months ago. You can tour the barracks, but be careful some of te wood is rot, several videos of peope exploring Ft. Chaffe. Blytheville AFB, funniest one, yes they did put a new airstrip in, almost 20 years ago when they converted it to a civilian airport, i fly out of it to LA every other month. hahaha

Actually, I don't find this so unbelievable.There"s undeniable documentation on detention centers for illegal immigrants&their families that look like prisons. It has brought outrage from international community as inhumane, so some are now relocating these people into apartment/housing complexes.USA is a scary place. It's as though a police state is coming into existence,&I'm not a conspiracy theorist, or a NWO nuts.It just seems locking people up seems to be the easy answer for social ills.

There is a great book called Zeitoun by Dave Eggers about an Arab American picked up after Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana, actually he was picked up during the disaster for no apparent reason and imprisoned in a facility like the ones shown.I wonder if the people have taken their cases to the courts. Just horrendous that instead of helping people the government is more concerned with setting up prison facilities.

@sheri226 17 miles south of Holbrook, Arizona on highway 77. Can't miss it on Google Earth. I found this facility(or the gate anyway) nearly 5 years ago. The guard's answers to our questions seemed strange. When I got home I took a look. In these past 5 years it has been renovated and expanded. I kept quiet until my wife became critically ill. Recently there has been an increase in traffic in and out. We believe it is being staffed. Not good.

I was really surprised when i first learned about it too, Dave Eggers documents the experience of an Arab American and long time resident of Louisiana. Dave Eggers is a writer for Salon.com. after reading the book i was shocked that this had never made it to mainstream news, because there were many people picked up and treated like criminals during a disaster.

Dave Eggers is a respected journalist who documents the experiences of an Arab immigrant getting picked up with a few of his non-arab neighbors in the week of the disaster. the book is called Zeitoun by Dave Eggers you can even pick a copy up from the library, it was published in 2009. I was shocked to read this man's story. why would washington authorize this is beyond me.

@Yemilady you can even look up the guy his name is Abdurahman Zeitoun was a well established business owner and property owner in Louisiana and was arrested on his property. I remember watching videos of interviews with Zeitoun on youtube. At first i thought they picked him up because he was middle eastern, but he's Syrian and can pretty much pass for a white guy, but was surprised when his neighbors were arrested and detained. They were kept at first in cages in the sun. really disheartening...

@Yemilady Having never heard of him, I googled & found the case file. He was charged with looting, possession of stolen goods & arrested for failing to evacuate. 'Some' of the charges were dropped. No where did I see he was "locked in a cage or put in a fema camp" As a matter of fact it states he 'suffered from a splinter in his hand' .. I found it under Case Law Full Display. What this had to do with Fema camps is beyond me. If you find proof that he was "locked in a cage" I'd love to see it.
