The story of Sega should be a warning to all hardware manufacturers everywhere.

In 1991, Sega were a dominant player in the video game market.

Then came the Mega CD.

Followed by the 32X.

Then the Saturn, which wasn't bad but handled miserably.

For the Dreamcast, Sega learned from their mistakes and produced a truly innovative system.

But alas, their past mistakes caught up with them as consumers no longer trusted the Sega brand.

In 2001, Sega left the console hardware business.

When Sega released the Sega CD (don't get me wrong I owned a Sega CD and liked it), 32x and Sega Saturn their ego was out of control.

The Sega Dreamcast does look like a very nice console at the time but it's a shame because it didn't follow the Metal Gear Solid series.

I never owned a dreamcast to young but my sister was one of the people who waited till march to get the ps2. She did not care for sega she only liked nintendo and Sony. Therefore I only liked nintendo and Sony the first sega game that really got me was sonic riders :D epic game.

i used to like sony but now i don't i like xbox360 now sony's GT5 game was crap and not much cars on it to so i now like xbox's game forza now much better then a short game GT.

and i still got my dreamcast still.

Fun Fact:

I bought and owned more than 6 Dreamcasts over the lifetime of it and even subscribed to their Sega-Net, i loved my Dreamcast and enjoyed sharing them as gifts or with friends. It has so many great games. I'd highly recommend it to any fan of Sega, Xbox, or 360. Go find yours at Amazon, Ebay, or Craigslist if you missed it.

completely agree! Just bought another Dreamcast the other day after owning one 10 years ago(and stupidly selling it). Have sinced owned xbox, gamecube, ps2, zbox 360 and a wii and none of them seemed as much fun as the DC. I do like my 360 very much but just didnt have that magic that the Dreamcast had

Lets face it. The Dreamcast was WAY ahead of its time when it came out. The Gamers of the time did not fully support it because of the promise of the PS2, which did not have wide online support. In a lot of ways, the Dreamcast was better than the ps2, aside from the lack of dvd functionality. True gamers play games, and don't care about dvd's anyway. Most of the Dreamcast haters out there are people that never even owned a Dreamcast. The next console "fail" will start with the 8th generation

@parasites84 i totally agree i love sega and i loved all the sonic games and i still play them today but i hate his knew titles sonic colors is a copy of mario in a alot of ways but the dreamcast is a living legend i still have my original along with 4 more the next console fail i hope its the Wii U as the wii console is complete bullshit no good graphical no shooters and nearly no third party support the only good game on it is mario

SegaNet was not first, don't forget Xband, that is also online. Also, Atari experimented with WIRELESS distro of games in the late 70's, but it never worked not because of technical reasons but because the games were to be distributed via RADIO stations and they were all indie owned back then, not syndicated.
