I've been in bands for a long time, and I know how band politics work, and I know how substances are used in a band, and how they effect the relationships in the band. If Ace and Peter were in KISS I doubt they'd be sober, or happy. So be thankful KISS still exists, and that everyone's healthy. Peace.

Tommy got a great gig. He was a standout in a solid Kiss tribute band, and Ace's tech during the Reunion tour. Proven chops. The issue is "KiSS" choosing to put him in Ace make-up to play Ace's part. Made financial sense, selling nostalgia and all, did not make sense for Ace fans, or purists. It just feels wrong. Ace is right, Tommy can play Ace, but will always be second rate version. Can't blame Tommy really, not a place that he can very well stand his ground. I don't hear Ace ragging

@funkeytoad08 I have had this same discussion with friends. But don't you think what each of them earned money wise was proportional to the amount of work each of them did? Gene and Paul did and still do a lot of behind the scenes work besides just performing like marketing, merchandising, promoting, legal issues etc..and probably a good deal of early morning starts with long days and late nights. All Ace and Peter had to do was show up and play

Those two had ALREADY made enough money to wipe their asses with it. They simply didn't need the big pay day that reunion brought them, but their 2 old friends who made the pay day possible did. What would have been the big deal if they would have split the money even for Ace and Peter just for the good will of doing it? It's all about the EGO man!

However business is business and my understanding is that when the band got back together, Ace and Peter were told that this is not a partnership, that Gene and Paul own the rights to the name KISS, the makeup and the merchandise and that Ace and Peter would be paid employees of the KISS organization and would be paid so much per show. Ace, Peter and their lawyers agreed.

Ok here is my take I am a KISS fan of 35 plus years.......Ace is the greatest no doubt about it, but you can't knock Tommy Thayer. This last Kiss album Sonic Boom kicks some serious ass. When the Lightning Strikes featuring Tommy has excellent vocals and guitar. Yes I prefer Ace in the band, but Kiss made their best album in a long long time with Sonic Boom. Way better than Psycho Circus. But Ace you still are the man!
Because they were individuals...until the newer members were paid to become clones of the original members. I respect Eric, he's flat out said it, Gene asked him, & money talked. I also think Peter was right, "Tommy is the guy i used to tell to go get me a salad"

@gtrobaugh you're probably as incoherant as Ace as well...Ace was good in the day but listening to him sing is like a bad highschool talent show,...he has no impact at all....Tommy's voice has guts and he's in tune,listen to "When Lightning Strikes" on Sonic Boom...Ace can be like a wet rag at times,he has highs and lows,...when he's not sh*t faced,which is most of his life.
I feel the same way about Gene. I used to like him the best, but the more I hear him speak and read things he says, he dips lower and lower in my book. And as far as liking Kiss better from some periods than others is fine. Everybody has their own tastes and opinions about members and music, but the new Kiss reminds me of the new Doctor Who. It's just not the same. The old Who and old Kiss are timeless. The new ones are kind of inferior modern interpretations, but some really like them.

KISS will continue regardless of the actual band members. KISS is about a vibe of Rock and Roll, and when any member does not have fun doing it, then it has to change members to keep the vibe alive. MANY bands have gone through this shit and KISS is no different. How many of you stopped being a fan of a group because of a change in band members?

Tommy Thayer to me is the third best guitar player Kiss had and the first two are Ace Frehley and the Bruce Kulick. Just because he wears the make-up of Ace doesn't make him as good as Ace. If you watch the "Rare Raw Video Ace From Kiss 2000", Ace says it perfectly: "better to leave on top rather than stay in the game too long." Ace was right. He walked away with integrity and made a kick-ass solo album. Gene and Paul should've walked away after the reunion tour. Period. What they are today is NOT KISS!

I really don't see why they didn't make new make-up designs. Eric Carr had an awesome design. I didn't think Vinnie Vincent had a good one but I hated the way he looks anyway so that's probably the reason why I don't like. They could've made Eric Singer The Hawk as it was planned in the past. I know that the makeup designs of the Catman and Spaceman belong to Paul Stanley but it's still not cool to do that... =/
Ace is a great guitaist but he is not in KISS anymore. He is still part of the KISS family. Ace can sit around and moan about how he was shafted or he can help Tommy be the best Spaceman that Tommy can be for the KISS fans. If Ace cares about us the fans he will do that and quit moaning about how Gene and Paul fucked up his life again. Peter can do the same thing with Eric as well. Those two had ALREADY made enough money to wipe their asses with it. They simply didn't need the big pay day that reunion brought them, but their 2 old friends who made the pay day possible did. However business is business and my understanding is that when the band got back together, Ace and Peter were told that this is not a partnership, that Gene and Paul own the rights to the name KISS, the makeup and the merchandise and that Ace and Peter would be paid employees of the KISS organization and would be paid so much per show. Ace, Peter and their lawyers agreed.

Ok here is my take I am a KISS fan of 35 plus years.......Ace is the greatest no doubt about it, but you can't knock Tommy Thayer. This last Kiss album Sonic Boom kicks some serious ass. When the Lightning Strikes featuring Tommy has excellent vocals and guitar. Yes I prefer Ace in the band, but Kiss made their best album in a long long time with Sonic Boom. Way better than Psycho Circus. But Ace you still are the man!

I feel the same way about Gene. I used to like him the best, but the more I hear him speak and read things he says, he dips lower and lower in my book. And as far as liking Kiss better from some periods than others is fine. Everybody has their own tastes and opinions about members and music, but the new Kiss reminds me of the new Doctor Who. It's just not the same. The old Who and old Kiss are timeless. The new ones are kind of inferior modern interpretations, but some really like them.

If you watch the "Rare Raw Video Ace From Kiss 2000", Ace says it perfectly: "better to leave on top rather than stay in the game too long." Ace was right. He walked away with integrity and made a kick-ass solo album. Gene and Paul should've walked away after the reunion tour. Period. What they are today is NOT KISS!

Sure the music, members, image, and the some of the substance have changed. Kiss has done a lot of things that I as a fan didn't approve of. But when I saw them in Phoenix in Oct, 2010 and watched those old men get up on that stage and give an energetic show I was reminded as to why this is my favorite group. And right or wrong I was proud of them.

The reason the original lineup worked the first time is because things were more equal. Ace wanted to do his own thing and Anomaly turned out better than Sonic Boom did in my opinion. Wow, you people really think this is real? Ace and Tommy are good friends and have been for quite a while. Ace has made it very clear that he has no problems with Tommy. Just search Ace Frehley interview 2009 and he answers a question about Tommy wearing his make up. Also watch KISS playing Love Gun at the vh1 rock honors in 2006. Ace comes on at the end and it's quite obvious that him and Tommy are friends. So please stop talking shit as most of you really don't know what your talking about.

I really don't see why they didn't make new make-up designs. Eric Carr had an awesome design. I didn't think Vinnie Vincent had a good one but I hated the way he looks anyway so that's probably the reason why I don't like. They could've made Eric Singer The Hawk as it was planned in the past. I know that the makeup designs of the Catman and Spaceman belong to Paul Stanley but it's still not cool to do that... =/

Ace is a great guitaist but he is not in KISS anymore. He is still part of the KISS family. KISS is not like the Stones. KISS is very fast and heavy. That is why I like Eric (Both of them). I love Peters style but and if he would do something more like his 78 solo record he would have a great record. But Peter can't hit as hard as he used to. KISS is more of a show now and a band. And I love KISS
