If Bernie Sanders cares so much about privacy and "freedom", he should protect property instead of calling to have the state steal some more.
Property rights = privacy rights and the right to own your own body. Bernie doesn't like property rights, thus his support for privacy and your right to to own your own body is fake as hell.
i used to think i wanted sanders as president, but I believe he has a much greater, more effective influence in congress. just think about it this way: would you want him in power for 4 or 8 years and do some stuff and get stuff blocked by Republicans and whatnot, or do you want him in congress, where he's been since 1991 continually making a big impact year after year after year?
For the record...hippies are socialists, and some of the western European nations and Canada have some attributes of socialism. China, Soviet Russia, Cuba, North Korea, etc, are not socialists. If Marx were alive today he'd be appalled at what those nations have done. They're not even good representatives of communism, let alone socialism. In fact, they're merely fascists, not unlike the Nazis, ultimately. True socialism is rare indeed.
Ok...I'm confused...what do the democrats have to do with this video at all? Bernie Sanders is an Independent, not a Democrat. I've watched nearly a dozen Bernie Sanders vids and I'm really lovin the guy, but everyone keeps using the Dems as proof of contradictory statements from him. He's NOT A DEMOCRAT you idiots! Cripes, no wonder people in this country vote so stupidly.
I agree with you, but sir you need to sit down. Sit down! Sit down! The Constitution has been amended more than any other constitution. You have no freedom. It is all in your head. We are a nation of men and space aliens. Only The Space Aliens and god can tell us what to do. And since god isn't showing up I guess that leaves the Space Aliens.
@Winterwolf00 "bite me. you probably don't even know what socialism is." - Ah, the defense of socialism. Perhaps you don't know even know the grand historical failure that is socialism. Perhaps it would behoove you to learn it, and learn the economic principles of why it will always fail. Even a Keynesian system is better than socialism, and Keynesian or post-keynesian econ is still intrinsically flawed from its inception - but others have already expounded on this much more than I can.
@picopallasi Grand historical failure of socialism? Tell me are you referring to Soviet Russia? How bout North Korea? Or Vietnam maybe? But wait a minute, Vietnam isnt socialist! There only party is the COMMUNIST party of Vietnam. North Korea's presidents have all been related as is Kim Jong-un the expected leader. Soviet Russia was NEVER considered socialist during or after the cold war, only communist so don't change it now. So what grand historical failure of socialism are u referring to?
@Winterwolf00 You must either be in denial or being completely sarcastic. Russia? You mean the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics? a highly centralized state with a planned economy? Perhaps it is you who is unaware as to what Socialism is. Vietnam? You mean yet another centrally planned economy?Socialism will always fails because it lacks the pricing system and free enterprise. The economic record is crystal clear that the more a system departs from free enterprise, the more it will fail.
@Winterwolf00 you may lack the capacity to understand this, but so many things you enjoy in daily have not come to you through a bureaucratic socialist system, but through free enterprise, entrepreneurial innovation and competition. I for one live in Southeast Asia, and have visited countries that have not enjoyed such economic freedom. And it shows. So before you go talking about how unsocialist Vietnam is, perhaps you should visit it and see for yourself what socialism has done for its people.
@picopallasi All your arguments are based on the assumption that socialism is no different from communism. And as any high school economics teacher will tell you they are very different. Any country where the government has FULL control over ALL industry is COMMUNIST. Not socialist. Socialism is a mix of government control and free market principles blending the best of both. Ever since things like social security and minimum wage were introduced in the US, we've gotten closer to socialism.
@Winterwolf00 "Socialism is a mix of government control and free market principles blending the best of both." - No. This is willful ignorance. This describes Keynesian econ or perhaps social democracy. Neither is Socialism! Yet the latter hopes to become "pure socialist" through gradualism. This isn't rocket science! Socialism destroys markets because it destroys any and all economic freedom. And what.. Social security? it's also failure! You will get a fraction of what you pay. It's a scam.
@Winterwolf00 In another display of your willful ignorance you actual posit there's such thing as "part-government part-free market". Now tell me how free would you be if you had your arms chained behind your back? Or maybe "I have freedom.. 10 months of the year". That's complete doublespeak if I've ever seen it. Really, read some real economics by Hayek. Or watch the free to choose lectures by Friedman on idea channel.tv instead of spewing nonsense about what socialism is or is not.
@picopallasi Frankly i don't have any idea what your talking about at this point. For some reason you equate regulated market with bondage in chains. If this is the reasoning you use then there's no real point in trying to debate with someone who has already made up their mind.
@Winterwolf00 "Frankly i don't have any idea what your talking about at this point." - you didn't to begin with. You don't know anything about economics, no one proclaiming to be socialist does because if they knew anything about economics, they would no why socialism will always fail. "Regulated markets" cause the boom-bust cycle, "regulations" cause crashes. Once again, you don't know this because you remain willfully ignorant, like many others, towards economics in order to "feel correct".
I'm glad to see so much support for Bernie Sanders around here. There's not a whole lot of straight-talk in Washington these days, especially when it comes to trying to help working people, which is pretty much everyone, if you think about it.
